《Grimoire: Breath of Life》Chapter 8: The Fight (2)

The boy walked slowly so he wouldn’t make any noises in case there were some men who weren't in a drunken state.
“Hup.” He climbed and peeked through the window. Since the hoodlums were lazy, no one cared about the room. There was nothing covering the windows at all and so the boy easily spied the inside of the room.
This was the farthest room in the house. The house had an odd design consisting of a living room, a toilet, a corridor that was connected to all the rooms in the house, and lastly, three rooms, in which, two were bedrooms, one for the kids and the other for the thugs whereas the last one was abandoned.
The boy got inside the house from this abandoned room.
“No one here, let’s enter.” The boy jumped inside and searched for something he could use as a weapon, he searched carefully and finally he found pieces of sharp glasses that were suitable for use.
The boy ripped apart the lower part of his robe and then wrapped the glass pieces so it would be easier to use and wouldn’t be hurting his own hands.
“These will do, let’s go.”
The boy and the grimoire walked toward the entrance. Since the door of this abandoned room was broken and Ted let it be, the boy and the grimoire could peek and take a look at the corridor.
‘No one here too. It’s too quiet inside the house. Are they sleeping?’
The boy thought this was weird. He was familiar with the thugs’ behaviors. He knew that they were usually still drinking at this time of the night.
‘No matter, let’s check the nearby rooms first.’
The boy walked slowly on tiptoes so that he wouldn’t make any unnecessary noises. He headed to the room where the other kids were sleeping. There wasn't much in there aside from blankets. He only took a peek and observed carefully before he moved on to the next room.
Near the kids’ bedroom was the thugs’ room where they sleep. So the boy definitely had to check this room before going to the living room.
The boy slowly opened the door.
Creak…
The boy peeked inside and the smell of alcohol mixed in with the smell of body odor was stabbing through his nose.
Although he was considered used to bad smells, this time he almost coughed and vomited if he didn’t hold the urge in.

Thump, thump, thump!
The atmosphere changed. He felt a sudden pressure as his heartbeat’s pace spiked.
What if he made a mistake?
What if there was a sudden external factor?
These thoughts put him under more pressure that cold sweat started to form on his forehead.
‘Focus…’
The boy was feeling very nervous inside. This was his first time sneaking in with the intention of killing people instead of stealing items. The tension he felt right now was on a different level.
This was not the kind of pressure an eight-year-old kid could handle.Even though the grimoire was doing its best to help the boy calm down by patting his chest, the boy didn’t seem to be affected, his hands were still trembling.
The boy grabbed on one of the glass pieces with his trembling hand and readied himself as he surveyed the surroundings.
His eyes were already used to the dark, allowing him to see things with greater clarity.
The room was packed with dirty laundry and empty bottles of alcohol and it was dark since the only window in the room was slightly covered with laundry, making the little moonlight even harder to shine through.
On the far corner of the room opposite of the window, there was a wooden bed and a wooden shelf. There was a guy lying on the bed and another guy lying on the floor with his feet high up on the bed. However the boy couldn’t see their faces clearly but the boy knew their features, one was skinny and the other guy was average built.
Snores…
Their snores could be heard as the boy walked closer to them. He tightened the grip of the glass piece in his trembling hand.
‘It’s going to be alright…’
The boy kept repeating these words to convince himself.
Clang!
The boy’s expression changed panicky, he accidentally kicked an empty bottle that clashed to the other empty bottle which made a quite loud noise.
“Ugh, what was that noise? Was that you, Buckteeth?” The guy on the bed sat up as he rubbed his eyes, he slapped Buckteeth’s feet and asked.
“Huh? Not me, Baldy.” The guy on the floor also sat up as he rubbed his eyes.
“Who’s that?!” The guy who was on the bed exclaimed when he saw a silhouette in the darkness.
The other guy's loud voice woke Buckteeth up from his groggy state. Buckteeth hurriedly tried to stand up,

Because of the noise, the two guys woke up.
‘His nervousness got the better of him! This is bad!’ The grimoire thought and tugged the boy’s clothes.
The boy panicked, he let his nervousness get the better of him and made a mistake. Now that the thugs were awake, things would be much harder than it already was.
‘It turned out to be Baldy of all people! He’s easy to wake up from any small disturbance!’
The boy was angry at himself for making such a small mistake that might cost him everything. He didn’t know what to do, but at that moment he was reminded by something that was dear to him.
The faces of the deceased kids flashed across his mind.
That feeling when he saw them take their last breath in front of his eyes was resurging in his heart.
Anger, sadness, hatred, helplessness, regret…
The feelings inside his heart and the current situation he was in made his adrenaline surged. All of the useless thoughts were washed away, replaced with the will to fight.
‘It’s do or die!’
The boy rushed in and leaped toward Buckteeth who was on the floor.
“Ugh!” Buckteeth wasn’t prepared, he was just about to stand up and wanted to avoid the boy but he stepped on an empty bottle which made him lose his balance.
“Die!”
“No! Fuc-”
Stab!
The boy stabbed Buckteeth with the piece of glass from before. The power behind the full weight of his body and the momentum were enough to leave a fatal injury to his enemy.
Splash! Blood gushed out everywhere, drenching the boy in red.
Buckteeth grabbed his neck as his eyes were wide opened in disbelief. He could not believe that he would die like this at the hand of a brat that he usually bullied.
“F*CK!” Baldy screamed, he grabbed an empty bottle and threw it toward the boy, targeting his head.
The distance was close, the boy couldn’t avoid it in time and tried to block it with his left hand.
Clang!
The grimoire flew out from the boy’s robe and blocked the incoming bottle, deflecting it to the side.
The boy took out the piece of glass from Buckteeth’s neck and lunged toward Baldy.
“Piece of sh*t! What’s that thing!” Baldy was frightened. He continued yelling to call for the other thugs in the house. “Everyone, the brat went crazy!”
“GET UP YOU SH*TS! THE BRAT IS HERE!”
Ted’s voice was heard from outside. The boy definitely heard it but he didn’t care at the moment. The only thing in his mind right now was to get rid of the man in front of him as soon as possible.
“DIE!”
Since his plan to kill them silently was already ruined, he would just go all out.
Baldy tried to fight the boy, he punched him, aiming for the face.
The grimoire once again blocked the incoming attack, but Baldy was a thug for four years, clearly he had some real fight before. He sent a second punch right away.
Bang!
“Agh!” The boy took a punch on his side abdomen and fell to the floor, he coughed really hard as he gritted his teeth in pain.
The grimoire was angry because it couldn’t block the second punch, it flew forward and knocked its hard cover to Baldy’s chin from below.
Bang!
“Agh!” Baldy was knocked back. The grimoire kept hitting him on the head so he couldn’t do anything to the boy.
The boy hurriedly tried to stand up and lunged toward Baldy who was at the mercy of the grimoire once again.
He said in a loud voice.
“ENOUGH!”
The grimoire understood, it knocked once again toward Baldy’s hands that he used to block the attacks of the grimoire and flew to the side.
The grimoire was really powerful, it knocked Baldy’s hands to the side, exposing his neck.
“No!”
Splat!
The boy stabbed Baldy’s neck, blood gushed out and painted the bed with blood.
“Huft, huft…” The boy was still enduring the pain from before. He panted as he wiped his face with his robe. Then he glanced toward the door when he heard the sound of footsteps coming in.
“BRAT, YOU DARE!”
Bang!
Ted, together with the two other thugs, roared in anger as soon as he opened the door. The thunder outside rang at the same time, highlighting the boy’s face that was red with blood.
