《The Adventures of the Mask Maker》More Guild Quests Part 1

Walking towards the guild, I paused at the entrance. There seemed to be a loud ruckus occurring within. Did someone come to pick a fight with us? I pushed open the door and strode in, hand at my masks ready to kick some ass. To my surprise, I see many adventurers gearing up.
"Did the demon orc come back?" I asked the guild receptionist on duty (Shadow).
"No, the guildmaster posted an update today. It says we can take as many as 6 quests. One quest above your rank, three quests at your rank, and two quests below your rank. There are also new quests posted on the quest board now."
"Really? That's great! Time to rack up some completions and raise my rank." I replied excitedly. I walked up to the quest board and looked at the surplus of quests. Hmmm, there's some monster extermination quests, some expedition quests, some special quests, some gathering quests, and some limited (first come first serve) quests. After browsing for a minute or two, I decided to choose four monster extermination quests and one gathering quest.
I walked up to Shadow and handed him the quests I will be taking. "Here, these are the quests I'll be taking: Slay 20 slimes, slay 5 boar warriors, slay 8 rampaging rhinos, slay 5 cyclops, and gather 3 fire crystals."
"Wow, that's a lot. You sure you can do them all?"
"No problem."
..........
As I walked out of the guild, I decided to hunt some slimes first. Remembering that slimes reside in grasslands, I head north of the city. After walking a few miles, I arrived at the grasslands. Rummaging around the tall grass, I finally came upon a slime. This green little blob of booger-like existence with a dark green core in the center...shouldn't be that hard, right? Taking my Skinning knife, I stabbed at the slime and pierced through its nucleus. The slime, after having its nucleus pierced, collapsed into "slime water". Curiously looking at the slime water, I thought. "Hmm, this can probably be used as a material."

Taking out a jar, I scooped the slime water into it. Then, I continued looking for slimes. Each slime I meet, I would just pierce the nucleus and then collect the slime water. Strangely, the fifth slime that I killed made a *SKREEE* noise when it died. Didn't know slimes could make noises. As I collect my fifth slime water, I couldn't help but get a bad feeling...as if being watched.
*THUD*..I turned around and sees a giant slime in the distance. A giant slime is usually made when 10 or more slimes merge together. This giant slime is tough and can be considered as a D-rank monster. The nucleus is situated deep in the center...making it impossible to reach without being swallowed.
"What to do?" I thought as I kept my distance. Reaching in my bag, I grabbed a violet hobgoblin mask I made in my previous quests. I put on the mask and transformed after a few seconds. Now, violet-colored hobgoblins have Thunder affinity and can do some basic Thunder skills. In my mind, I reasoned that since the normal slimes are made mostly from water, then their weakness would have to be thunder. With lightning coursing through my arms from the skill Paralyzing Sting, I approached the giant slime. The giant slime lunged towards me in an attempt to swallow me. I thrust out both my arms and plunged them into the giant slime.
*Bzzzt*...the lightning spread around and throughout the giant slime. Paralyzed, the giant slime could not hold the bonds required to merge and collapsed into what looks like 15 slimes. The 15 slimes are still paralyzed and could not move. Quickly, I took off my mask, pulled out my skinning knife, and stabbed each slime - piercing their nucleus. After collecting the slime water in the jar, I left the grasslands and prepared to move to my next destination.

How to Raise Your Dungeon
A dungeon core awakens for the first time. It knows nothing, it has nothing, but it can hear something. Voices, whispering, talking, and sharing. For now, they are distant. But it believes, if it proves itself, they may provide it with wisdom and direction. And so its slow but steady growth begins. Polls will come when the dungeon specifically wants to choose between a number of options, and believes it will receive an answer. However, it will "hear" any comments made on the most recent chapter, and these will shape its behaviour. It trusts you implicitely. This story is an exercise in stretching my creative muscles, so with each decision made, the options and opportunities open to the dungeon will change- some closing off forever. The dungeon will face threats periodically, and its fate in these encounters will be heavily influenced by your advice, though it will of course do its absolute best even without advice. It hardly wants to die. Heavily inspired by There Is No Epic Loot Here, Only Puns, though my approach to the concept is somewhat different from that work.
