《The Beta Test》Problems

So essentially I ended up with a couple problems. First, I got sucked into some political stuff I thought I had successfully commited to not getting involved in. Secondly I didn't have enough filler. Stuff happened in a compacted way that combined with my third mistake. Thirdly I ramped up the growth too fast. I'm not sure this was avoidable because I started out the character in a way that was too optimized. He was well along the path of glass cannon even in the first couple chapters. Which is an issue when you don't have other classes of characters.
Since you never really saw him when he was weak it also made it harder to appreciate the spell chaining situation.
All of this also contributed to the speed of writing. The math got very complicated very fast. Essentially in 3 days I got through roughly a third of the words I had planned to write.
Also I got sick and when I get sick my ability to actively use my brain diminishes significantly. I can read or even play certain kinds of games fine. I can even grind through physical labor, like I did at my last job even though I had various short terms of being sick or twisting my ankle or w/e. What I can't do is engage in mentally stressful activities.
My purpose was to engage in a writing exercise so I don't really have an interest in rewriting the story or anything. I had fun doing it, for all the flaws involved, and even though I can't really argue that I did a great job or lived up to my goals. My sleep/sickness issues and distraction related to other events definitely contributed to my issues with the mathematical mistakes.
I am sorry for not finishing the project though but better to cut it loose now than to dump it much farther in. I'd feel really terrible if I had dropped it when there was more going on plotwise and after people had potentially invested more time. ~30000 words is a relatively short story by RR standards.

I definitely still feel like its possible to put out a litrpg story in a few days that isn't terrible and contains a complete and satisfying story and ideally which is distinct and engages in my preferred content style.
I am pretty over romantic tension, any sort of putting a love interest in danger stuff, and especially all the stories that involve the character always being subjected to other kinds of tension. Oh the main character has just resolved a key issue in a dramatic climax? Let me immediately shove them into the exact identical position they were in before so that they haven't actually improved their situation. Ugh. I guess that is often caused by the nature of a web serial. An endless escalation of dramatic tension to keep the story going.
In any case it looks like there weren't too many people invested in this story so that's probably for the best.

Earth to Rae
Rae, who has had a terrible childhood, died saving Mary -his sister from his family who saved and adopted him when he was younger- from a stalker. Afterward, a god who looked no older than a 14-year old boy, expecting his sister, appeared before him. Rae's soul is then sent into the body of a goblin vampire in a world called Altera. Now, Rae must journey through a new world that strangely resembles many fantasy worlds created through literature and video games he’s familiar with to get back to Earth and reunite with his adoptive mother and sister. Rae: Goblin? Vampire? Cursed? And what the hell is Electra's Gift?! ***Warning: first story ever. Will definitely have many errors although I will try my best to rectify them beforehand. If you have any constructive and *not* abusive criticism, then please do not hesitate to comment. Also, the prologue is a bit slow but will have a large time skip in Chapter One.***

The Beaumort Society
The city of Omen is on the cutting-edge of learning and science, and the things going on behind the backs of the Institute and the government, and sometimes with their approval...well, they don’t really matter. Conspirators operate just below the surface, societies clashing, fighting for their own mysterious ends. It's here that the individual known as Nemesis Jones, a self-styled private investigator, arrives, stumbling onto the doorstep of a curious bookstore called Beaumort's. He's here in search of answers, but all he seems to find is more questions - like the strange girl who arrived at Beaumort's shortly after him, and the peculiar stranger who just may have the answers he seeks. After he stumbles upon a conspiracy tied far too closely for comfort to his best friend, it's up to him and some other nosy eccentrics to unravel the mysteries of the city one by one, beginning with the murder at the Theatre Obscura. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, all of this is explicitly outlined in Nemesis' job description. [ILLUSTRATIONS BY @THEEGGGARDEN ON TWITTER] [UPDATES 13TH AND 27TH OF EVERY MONTH]

The Polyglot's Rune
Fear. Regret. Memories. They all flashed before my eyes as my life began to fade away. I felt a darkness encroach upon my heart followed by a sinister foreboding. Within that moment I was asked a single question by a powerful, mystical being. “Brave being, do you wish to accomplish a great deed in your life?” “No,” I refused, but the voice did not listen. It summoned me to its world only to try to have me slaughtered. But then, I was saved by him, the princess who disguised herself as a man. He was hellbent on revenge, and he was determined to drag me down with him. This story is meant to be a bit of a mix of genres and cultures, so there are some elements that may seem xianxia like, but it's not exactly the same so I didn't tag it. It also has multiple lead characters but is written in first person. Schedule: Dropped Normal Chapter Length: approximately 3000 words Warning: Tagged [15+] for Strong Language and Violence (Gore and Profanity aren't very prevalent, but I added the warning tags just in case).
