《The Human Path》Chapter 34: Portal

“Naaa!” Lisandra cried out as best as she could. She couldn’t understand what was happening, one moment she was trying to retreat, so she could remedy the corrosive effects of the spear, and the next moment she was being grabbed, her neck ripped open. She could feel the monstrous draconian, slowly draining the blood from her body.
A few drops would be fatal to many, even old Ralf would do everything to avoid coming in contact with her. Yet this draconian was gulping it down without care.
Even though Ralf was shocked, he didn’t stop. He tossed the prince in the air, and rushed to save Lisandra. Although she was a troublesome wrench, she was still useful to him.
The sky eagle swooped down and grabbed the 4th Prince, holding him tightly in his talons.
“Let her go!” Ralf thundered as several glass like swords appeared around him. All the swords were glowing with a light blue haze in tandem with the soul stone on his forehead. He gestured with his hands and sent the swords hurling towards Uther.
Uther didn’t stop, and kept gulping down the poisonous blood. As the swords approached, the dark flame Armor dissipated and a green mist took its place, it surged out of Uther and enveloped his whole body. When the glass like swords came into contact with this strange mist, they instantly shattered.
“AHHH!!” Ralf who was directing the swords, suddenly felt a wave of pain run through his mind. His soul stone, which was giving off a brilliant light blue ray, was now dim and grey.
‘What the hell is this’ Ralf thought as he once again condensed his mental power to form several glass swords. He then gestured and all the swords started to come together to form one large sword, and with a wave, it rushed towards Uther once more. ‘No matter what it is, it can’t defend against my mental sword union’.
The single large Glass like sword rushed towards Uther, the green mist once again came in contact with the sword, however this time the sword didn’t shatter, rather it was the green mist that backed off.
Over on the other side, Ralf had a nasty look on his face. “Ahhh, what… What THE HELL!!” He yelled as the waves of immense pain kept rushing towards him.
The main weapon of a Raavi is their soul power. Soul power that can exit the body and latch on to other objects is called mental power. Ralf was very accomplished in mental power, and could even use air as a medium to create mental swords. However, this is also a large disadvantage of the duality path, if the mental power is harmed, the user will also feel its effects.

The green mist was not attacking, rather it was defending, but it had a toxic nature that was slowly rusting Ralf’s mental power.
“Damn lizards!!” Ralf thundered as he produced a small bottle with a blue fluid. He hurriedly uncapped the bottle and gulped the fluid down. His soul stone immediately regained its lustre, and began to glow with a bright blue gleam.
“Made me waste a soul nourishing potion, what a bad day to be a lizard” Ralf muttered with bloodshot eyes as he sent a wave of mental power towards the sword. The glass sword which had been slowly pushing on towards Uther, but was held off by the green mist, instantly gained momentum, and sliced through.
Uther, having realised the immediate threat, stopped drinking and instantly backed off, throwing Lisandra’s decrepit body towards the sword. The sword penetrated Lisandra’s body, passing through it as if it was immaterial and continued to rush towards Uther.
“Help me get out of here, you owe me.” Uther shouted internally, towards the human face in the green mist. “If I die, my core will dissipate, get me out now.”
“Yessss, you did goood.” The face in the mist replied with a vile hiss. “Get readyyy, I will send you awayyy”
“NOW!!” Uther cried out as the sword reached his front. The green mist started to collect around Uther into a ring. The sword tore through Uther’s Armor and made contact with his flesh, however that’s when the ring of mist burst out, creating a portal in the air that swallowed both Uther and the Glass Sword.
“AHHHH” Ralf Shrieked, as pure unadulterated pain coursed through his mind. He couldn’t stay in the air, and immediately sent a signal to the Sky Eagle Raka, who swooped down to catch him before he fell.
Ralf looked over to where the draconian was just moments ago, the only thing there now was some malevolent air left by that strange mist.
“That was definitely a space portal, but how. Space portals require numerous rune masters to collaborate as well as several rare spiritual resources that can only be found in the coffers of the royal treasury, but he was able to create one just like that. Also I definitely felt mental energy emanating from that strange green mist, it’s as if it was alive.” Ralf blurted out, still shaking, unable to calm down. “Only three individual’s have had that ability, the path walkers. I have to tell his Majesty, this draconian cannot be allowed to grow.”

Ralf took out another bottle of soul nourishing potion, and drank it down in one go. “My attack was destroyed, but I definitely pierced his flesh and left a mental mark on him.” He patted on Raka’s head and gestured it to go and fetch Lisandra, while he took out a rune plate and sent it towards the cowering Cloud Komodo, hiding near the human sand ship.
The Rune Disk shattered and its pieces rushed towards the Cloud Komodo, paralysing it instantly.
The Sky Eagle Raka swooped down and landed on the sand near Lisandra. Ralf gestured with his hand and her body slowly lifted off the ground and floated towards him. He then took out another bottle, this one filled with a red liquid, which he uncapped and splashed on Lisandra’s gruesomely ripped neck.
“Ahhh” Lisandra cried out as her eyes burst open. “Ahhhhh”
The red liquid seeped into the wound which started to slowly patch itself up, releasing foul smoke as the dead flesh burnt off.
“Stop screaming, it wont do you any good.” Ralf said as he slowly floated off Raka’s back. “Go back to the city with Raka, I will catch up” and with that he flew off toward the human sand ship.
The Sky Eagle, having heard its master, grabbed the still wailing Lisandra, and flapped it’s wings to take to the air. It then rushed towards the distance, in the direction of the border city.
Ralf landed next to the Cloud Komodo, and started to look at it closely. “Level 29 peak, what a shame.” He approached it and put his hand on its head. “Black dragons are mighty creatures, they once acted as chariot mounts for the Great Rayvus, and yet its kin are here playing with those lizards. How the mighty have fallen.”
He gazed into the Cloud Komodo’s eyes, and sent a mental wave. “It won’t submit. It seems this one was subdued by a blood bond, what a nasty practice.” Ralf jumped towards the ship and landed on the deck, where all the humans were quietly lying asleep. He gestured towards Sappa and his body slowly floated up and approached Ralf. Ralf then grabbed Sappa by the neck and once more sent a mental wave, this time to wake him up.
Sappa’s eyes opened wide, and he saw Ralf standing there calmly, his neck clenched tightly. “Now I don’t have either the time or patience to ask you again, I know you will lie.” Ralf muttered before sending out his mental power to directly attack Sappa’s soul.
“Ahhhh” Sappa cried out in pain, however Ralf only grinned at his agony.
“haha, I know, I know, it’s a nasty way to get information, but it works.” Ralf continued to attack his soul until Sappa’s eyes went dim, his arm and legs, which were hurling everywhere in struggle, simply swooped down.
“Oh, I hope I didn’t break him.” Ralf smiled as he sent another mental wave to confirm Sappa’s mental state. “Good enough. He’s probably going to become retarded, but he will answer truthfully.”
Ralf gazed into Sappa’s dim and almost lifeless eyes and said. “Now tell me, where is the artefact of the path walker Halfrist.”
Sappa, while maintaining a deadpan look answered. “With Haruki.”
Ralf’s brows scrunched. “Where is this Haruki?” He asked, hurriedly.
Sappa tried to turn his neck, but it was still clenched by Ralf. Ralf let him go to see where he would point, only to see Sappa walk next to the boy that annoyed him earlier.
“Ohh, its him. Is it in his bag, take it out and give it to me.” Ralf Blurted out, he was very excited.
Sappa hand started to move, tears started to slowly pour out of his dim eyes as he pointed to Haruki’s belly.
“He swallowed it!!” Ralf shouted, in excitement. “Well then, I will be taking the boy”
Sappa collapsed down, barely breathing. Ralf walked next to Haruki, and reached down to grab him by the hair.
It was then that he felt something yank at him from behind, followed by a voice. “DON’T YOU DARE!!”

So please bear with me and feel free to offer suggestions, positive criticism, and the like in the comments. A note’s note: the Litrpg part will be, especially in the beginning, slow going. While I like to think this story is going to be a Litrpg, it will not focus heavily on the mechanics. And finally, a note-like note of a note: English is not my native language and only me, myself and Word grammar check have looked at the text. If you see a horrible affront to the English language, please let me know. Enjoy!
