《The Digital Dungon》Chapter 8

"Cal," I begin. "What happened to you?" Cal's sudden change was amazing to watch. She looks truly dangerous, almost fearsome. Two sets of golden wings keep her in the air instead of the ears she was using. The fairies' growth caught both Pit and me off guard. Not only is she taller, but there is an air about her. I try to analyze Cal; I don't know why I haven't tried this before.

"Ygg," Cal called to me. "I know that my digivolution may have confused you, but you still need to work on ignoring me."

I don't ignore her. "So, What happened then?" I ask once more.

"When I looked at the portal that you created." Cal's head turns to the portal, her brows furrowing. "I got, it's hard to explain." Her head shakes, letting out a deep breath before continuing. "It feels like I had information dumped into my very soul. The strain was too much for me to handle. So it was either I digivolved or died. Probably in a fiery explosion." She states while waving her hand.

"WHAAAAT," Pit's scream reverberates through the room. Cal twitches, twisting to look at him.

"Oh, yes," She smirks at young digimon. "I could have created an explosion big enough to destroy the whole dungeon."

I think back on the whole experience. Other than the light, there did not appear to be any sign of Cal exploding. Pit's eyes widen as he hops away, getting more distance from the portal. The twinkling of a bell echos as Cal begins to laugh. She loosed control of her flight, falling to the ground in a laughing heap. Pit and I stare at her, neither of us understands what is happening. After some time on the earth, she gets control of the laughter.

"I was joking," Cal giggles out. "Even if I died, there would not have been such destruction." She stands, grabbing her spear from the ground. "Let's go back to the core room, Pit. I will try to explain some of the information I have gained."

I watch the two traverse down my halls. It takes them about half an hour to travel. I find this surprising as Pit said he rushed to the portal when he heard some commotion. Before I can enquire about this, Cal begins to speak.

"Tell me, Ygg, have you chosen the first zone for the Digital World yet."

"Yes," why is she asking that. "I choose the Forest zone. Why?"

"How to use the Digital World creation is one of the things I learned from the upload," She says.

Well, that is going to be helpful if she does not use this to control me. I bet Cal already has a plan to get me to do what she wants. I open the Digiworld creation screen. The forest appears in my sight, along with the three tabs on each side. I decide to test Cal's information for myself.

"What can you tell me then," I ask her.

"Well," she pauses. Cal's eyes go to the ceiling. She continues before my irritation gets the better of me. "The Digital World, or Digiworld, is a place where all creatures can fight without death." She states this like it some grand and exciting prospect.

"I don't see how that is new information," I tell her. "It says so in the description of the power."

Cal sighs again, which are starting to get annoying. "To my knowledge, no other dungeon wild dungeon is capable of creating such a place. The gods can, but they do not just appear." I catch her, emphasizing the "do not" as she speaks.

"That makes you special, right, Cal?" Pit says.

Cal nods. "This will help keep you alive. Almost no one will sanction the death of a dungeon that won't kill their people. It's too good of a training ground."

"Ok. I will be safer than most other dungeons. What else do you know," I ask.

Her face scrunches up like earlier. "There is a lot of information for me to give you all at once. For now, ask questions when you need to know something, and if I think there is something important, I will tell you."

There it is, I will probably have to do something to get the information out of her. Cal does not look like I will be able to convince her otherwise. I will have to deal with the issue later. I put decided to focus on world creation. The terrain tab appears to allow me to make some small changes to the map. I won't worry about that for now, but I should add traps for PIts use. I open the tab for traps, yet I only have two selections to make. One is a pitfall, a hole in the ground with a thin barrier over the top. I can place some of these, but the other trap will be harder to use.

"Cal," I regrettably ask my fairy a question. "How do I get more traps?"

"There are two ways. One is to create a situation or object that could be considered a trap by the system. The other is by increasing the powers level through use." She says promptly.

I open up my powers screen. Trap creation only costs 20 ap for each use. I look at my current Aura and am taken aback by the sheer amount.

Name: Yggdrasill

Race: Core

Class: Dungeon(Digital)

Level: 2

Aura: 1934

+1 Attribute point for monsters.

Where would you like to place the point?

1934 aura is a lot to have. I could build a whole lot of traps with that amount. I can also increase my level if I learn what the attributes mean for my digimon. Oh, I have three screens open. When did that start happening? Before I would have to close one screen to open another, now I can have more. I do feel a pressure on my core, though. I will have to look into this later, along with the attributes. I move my focus into the stairway. I can put a bolder trap up there. If someone comes down, the rock will roll right over them. I look at the ceiling and try to activate my Trap Creation power. I watch as my Aura drains by 20 points. Then I hear a crunching sound as a giant rock begins to roll down the stairs. Cracks appear on both is the bolder makes it's decent. I destroy the stone in a rush as I don't want to much destruction for now reason.

I decided to spend time thinking about how to create this trap. In the meantime, I plant pitfalls in the rooms, hallways, and the digiworld. After completing nine traps, I get a message stating that Trap Creation leveled up, and I unlocked a new Trap. The problem I noticed was that the cost of each trap also increased, doubling to 40 Ap. I have the Aura right now, but this will get expensive soon.

Trap Door: A trap door can is used to hide hallways or entrances. Only by finding the switch will a trap door be opened.

It can also be combined with other traps.

It is an interesting trap, but I wonder if I can use it with my pitfalls. I try to attach a trap door to the top of one and get a screen out of it.

Would you like to combine the trap door to this pitfall?

Success, I select yes and make two more trap door pitfalls. I then add one to a tunnel in one of the corner rooms, cutting it off from adventures from the front. I am making some traps in the digital world when Cal calls for me. I close the screen to look at her. I am getting tired of all the interruptions.

"Yes, Cal?"

"Are you going to create any training tools for Pit." They are both looking at my core. Pit's eyes gleam in the light radiating from it.

"Why and what should I create?" I ask her.

"Training tools will increase the digimon's attributes without them having to level up," she tells me. "These attributes will help in battling adventures to provide you with more aura."

I look to Pit; his eyes are wide open while his two ears swing back and forth. "How do the Attributes help?" Cal smiles. I don't know why, but I don't like her doing so either way.

"There are six Attributes. Health, Mana, Strength, Stamina, Wisdom, and Speed." Cal begins a long lecture into how each attribute can affect a long list of different things. From Powers to new actions called Skills. The one thing I do remember is the basics of each one.

Health is how much damage someone can take before their body gives out. Apparently, if I cut off someone's head, their health will not always hit zero, but they still die instantly. I immediately add that point I have from leveling to this one.

Mana is how often a digimon can use their special powers. Mana does not affect Skills. Cal skimmed over them, saying I can ask again later. I know it's essential, or she would have told me about them already.

Strength is how much force Pit will be able to put into each attack. Not all powers will use strength thought.

Stamina focuses on defense, both from strength and wisdom. If the attribute grows enough, then Pit or other digimon can gain more health.

Wisdom mostly affects powers. Cal did mention something about knowledge-based skills but again did not elaborate on them.

Finally, speed is all about how fast a digimon can move from attacking to running.

After the learning session ends, I let them know that I will have to think about what to make for Pit. Before I can go back to my trap placement, I hear a cracking sound. All three of us look toward the eggs. Each one shakes and continues to split. Soon we are starring at four new digimon where the digieggs use to be. Each one is small and squishy, but different colors. I sigh; even though I don't have a body, it does make me feel better. I guess that's why Cal does it so often.

The first has a fluffy yellow body and two red eyes in the center. A green leaf-like tail sticks up from behind its body. The one beside it is a light green creature, and a leaf sticks up over its head while a pink nob centers in between two beady black eyes. The next one is all white ball of fluff with two round ears on top of its head. The last one is a dark purple, two cone stick from its head. It appears to be staring at my core.

As I focus on opening up their screens, a siren goes off through my halls. A system message pops up, which terrifies me.

Warning, Adventures have entered into your digital world. Will you repeal them, or will you be destroyed.
