《The Digital Dungon》Chapter 6

I have a small black ball hopping around my core-room. Why am I supposed to name this monster? Calumon came with their name. Botamon bounced toward my gem, stoping only a few centimeters away. "Yes," I questioned the creature. Their eyes stare at me as they lean back for just a second before pouncing forward at my Core. I barely have the time to appreciate how Botamon has no teeth before blackness overtakes my senses. I can't hear, see, or feel anyone or anything in my presence. I float in darkness, which, to my surprise, does not bring about any fear. The nothingness only lasts for a short while, when my new world shakes violently. Cal's hand appears from within light, grasping my Core to pull me out.
"Got you," Cal says. My senses spring back, causing me to feel disorientated for a few moments. The black ball of fur lays on the ground where Cal had opened its mouth.
"I know what I am going to name this Digimon now," I tell my rescuer. They bring my Core up to their face, halve of their brow raising. I focus on the Botamon, allowing its status page to fill my vision.
Name:
Species: Botamon
Class: Dragons Roar
Level: 1
AP: 0
"Your name will be Pit," I say while watching the name change on Pit's status screen. I focus on the screen to get more details on its species and class.
Botamon: A slime Digimon capable of eating a large quantity of food. As newly born, Botamons are unable to fight. They like all baby stage 1 Digimon are not defenseless.
"Calumon!" I scream at my fairy. My monster, who is supposed to protect me from invaders, can't even fight. "What can't Pit fight?" Cal throws my gem into the air, juggling it between their hands. They look away, sighing after catching the Core.
"Botamon. Sorry, Pit is a baby stage 1." Cal tells me. "They are the weakest of all Digimon. On the other hand, their Attributes increase quicker than any other stage of growth. Once they reach stage three, their growth will slow."
"You know what I am going to ask next," I state as a matter of fact. Cal giggle, a smile blossoming.
"There are six stages to our evolutions," they begin, walking towards a wall. "Each stage gives a boost to all attributes. The conditions for evolution is different for each Digimon, except for baby stage 1 toward in-training stage 2." Cal stops at the wall furthest from the room entrance. "We will only have to wait a few more days, or you can force an evolution with your Aura Manipulation. For now, make a hole in the wall where I can put you Core out of reach of any other mischievous baby."

I do as they say and holo out a section of the wall. Cal has to fly up to my new spot. While I felt no fear about what happened, it had cut off my sight, and I do not want that to happen when I am defending against Adventures. They put me into the wall, floating back down afterward to check on Pit. I go ahead and finish my peruse of their status. I am focusing on the class aspect.
Class Dragons Roar Health 10 Mana 10 Strength 2 Stamina 1 Wisdom 1 Speed 1 Dragons Roar are fighters. They run toward battle head-on. With Courage and ferocity, the fight is why they live, when Dragons Roar Battle is near.
Cal said that these would snowball. Dose Pit need to do something for an Attribute to increase, or is there something else I need? I try and focus on improving their health. I growl to myself as nothing happens. I open up my powers and abilities screens once more, but nothing was giving me an answer. I get Cal's attention away from Pit.
"How can we increase Pit's Attributes," I question.
Cal looks down at the Digimon, contemplating on the question. "The best way would be to build a training machine for them to use. You can do so with a higher level Item Creation Power. Don't worry about any of that for now. You need to summon as many Digital eggs as possible, and then finish up your dungeon's first level."
All of my Powers are still level one. I will need to increase them soon so that they can become useful. I go ahead and summon four more Digieggs, improving my total experience in that power to halve way. I decide to increase this one first since I am already so close. Looking over to the eggs, I notice they are all different than the first and each other. The First is a Golden color with yellow dots. Another Is green with a dark-green zig-zag pattern circling the shell. The third and fourth are similar, except one is white with a purple design while the other is silver with a grey pattern.
I am going to need some time to finish up the dungeon. I have decided to add two additional rooms giving me a total of six for this floor. I don't know how to build another, but that can come later. I spread my attention across the two rooms I was working on before Pit hatched. I finished the half-built places quickly and moved onto two hallways. I decide to make the next two rooms as corners to complete a square shape for this part of my dungeon. I am carving out the stone hallways to the same length. It takes me some time, days to be more precise. This time I don't get interrupted by Cal.

As time pass, I finish both of my new rooms and connect them with another hallway. I add my last hall here, leading away from my core room. Halfway down, I get some inspiration. Instead of making a straight path at a steady incline, I create stairs going up in a spiral. When I reach 30 meters, I construct my final room. I make this one slightly bigger than my other five. The staircase is on the far side from where I plan to have my entrance. Once I am satisfied with the size, I realize that I have no idea where the surface location.
I pull my focus back to the core room. Cal and Pit are lying on the ground near the eggs cuddling. A giggle escapes throughout the air. The last time I focused on these two, Cal was berating Pit for eating my Core. How long was I building?
"Cal, can you wake up," I whisper. Cal twitches before opening their eyes.
"Ygg, did you need something?" Cal moves the black ball to the ground slowly. Pit does not make a sound.
"Do you know how close I am to the surface," I question before continuing. "I have finished this level, but I don't know if I should build another floor. If I am close, I can open up with one more hall. I need to know the direction to go first."
Cal extends their ears and takes to the air. "You should be very close to the surface. I will head to where your entrance location."
I track Cal through the halls. When they get to the final crossways, they stop as if lost. Their confusion does not last long, as they turn down the correct path. When the fairy reaches the stairs, they laugh.
"This was a good idea Ygg; most adventures will expect a floor to be on the same level; doing this will cause some confusion."
Calumon continues their trek through the dungeon into my final room. Immediately they head toward some walls and place a palm on the stone. Cal closes their eyes. I have seen them do this before, but this time I can feel a wave pulse through my body. Their eyes flutter open. Cal points to one of the walls.
"You are very close to a Cavern." They declare. "This is not a surface area, but it will be an excellent spot to make an entrance."
I follow to where they are pointing and begin to eat at the rock, opening up a small passageway into a cave. To my surprise, I was close. I tell Cal that I want to put a Digiportal here. I do not know what it exactly does, but now it is as good as any time to find out. Before Cal has a chance to object, I do just that. I activate my skill. The ground vibrates viciously as two mettle pillars rise from the ground on either side of my new doorway. I feel a pulling sensation from my Core. Marking begins to appear on the posts. Symbols that I can read, but have no idea where they are coming from or why they are needed. Thirty minutes go by as I watch this happen in fascination. Once the last symbol is etched in, they start to glow.
It is not until the lighting starts to arch between the two pillars before I begin to worry. I hope I did not just make a mistake.
