《The Digital Dungon》Chapter 3
Advertisement
Wait, is that digital monster being series right now. Calumon wants me to create a dungeon so that I do not get bored. From what I have already heard, adventures are the only thing I would have to fear. I could just hide in my hole without any worries, forever. This fairy has to have a death wish, or maybe they never wanted to be summoned before and now want to get rid of me.
"Ygg," Cal shouts me out of my thoughts. I know what they are doing, though. I will listen, but they will not be able to distract me from what I have discovered.
"Yes, Cal did you have anything else to say," I ask with more snark then I meant. They are quiet for some time, probably trying to think of a way to trick me. I let them contemplate as this gives me more time to come up with a plan for my survival.
"Well," they begin after some time. "I understand that for most, being bored is not that much of a concern. People tend to accomplish tasks throughout their daily lives to survive. You, Ygg, don't have the issue of survival. You will need some kind of action or motivation to keep your mind occupied; otherwise, there will be consequences." Cal's lip twitches.
Got them, Trying to get the threat through without me realizing. Well, not this core. I will discover what Cal has planned.
"Ygg," Cal draws my attention back for the second time. "Are you even listening to me? I can feel your agitation. If something is wrong, I am here to help you."
Yeah, you wish I would fall for that. Just like you are trying to tell me, those awful screens are useful.

"Hold on a moment. Can you feel my emotions? I have emotions?" This realization hits me harder then I would like.
Cal guffaws at my questions, barely keeping off the ground. "Of course," they try to speak. "Most sentient beings feel emotions. Those that don't feel anything are far and few between." Their laughter slowly fades with each breath. "Yes, I can feel your emotional state; this lets me know when you might need some help. The only issue being that I will not know what is causing your emotions unless you let me know." They look down at my core.
I will have to learn to control my emotions if I am to hide my plans. I can't have this fairy going around and snooping.
"I just want to get started on crafting the dungeon." I lie. "If being board can lead to dangerous incidents, I feel we should rush onwards."
Cal smile grows. "Go ahead and open up one more screen. It's your Abilities."
I do as they ask, and again a new box appears.
Abilities Aura absorption: Absorbing the excessive Aura within the air. Ground Absorption: Absorb earthen materials (dirt, rock, sand, or other earth substances) converting it into Aura Mineral Creations: Create different minerals, that you have previously absorbed, using Aura.
"This time, you should have three different abilities, " Cal said. "You don't have anymore, do you?" They look at me.
I answer quickly, trying to keep them talking so that I can try and get more information.
"Good," they spoke, letting out a breath. "These three abilities are given to Dungeon Cores. You will use two in building the layout of the dungeon."
"Why are my abilities only for cores?" I ask.

"I never said that only cores could have these abilities. Abilities are similar to powers in that anyone can have them, but you can not buy Abilities from the system." Cal says. "They also do not have levels or grow in strength. You will have to earn any new abilities. Before you ask, I don't have the information on any additional Abilities." The fairy states. "For anyone else, to get one of these abilities would require the capture of a dungeon core."
I must earn new Abilities, and again Cal is of no help to me. I will just have to figure it out on my own then. "My first Ability, as you call them," I grumble out.
"The system calls them Abilities, not me," they correct my words without missing a beat.
"Yeah yeah, as I was saying, my first ability is to absorb Aura. Is that even useful," I question.
Cal's head turns sideways. "I believe so; no other creatures are born with this ability, especially sentient races. Well, at least from the knowledge that the system has imparted to me."
"Does your precious system tell you why no one else has Aura Absorption?" I sneer. Which is a lot more impressive then it sounds as I have nothing other than my voice to convey the meaning behind my words.
"No, OUR system does not." Cal snaps. "You have to get over whatever problem you have with the system. It is a tool, nothing more than that. As I have already said TODAY, the system gave you the option to summon me so that I could help you. I don't know why this is such a..." I cut Cal off before they can continue.
"Ok, I am sorry for my attitude. Everything is a lot to process in only a day. The system awoke me, which was annoying. I will try to move forward instead of dwelling." I say this only to get them off my back. I don't like any of this, but until I can find a way out, this will have to be my life. "I can see how My other two Abilities are for creating the dungeon. The first one allows me to absorb earthen materials. Which must be how I created the room we are currently occupying."
Calumon drops from the air as they try to confirm my statement, causing me to snicker. "Yes," Cal says after regaining control. "The other should be Mineral Creation. You will create things like walls and pillars with this ability."
Cal points to the wall they are still floating beside. "This room is a good size for your first boss room. Go ahead and began to dig out a hallway. Make sure it is at least two meters tall and wide. I understand you might be afraid of someone attacking you. If you follow my instructions they will leave you be, even if you kill a few thousand people a year in your depths.

Is It Too Late To Move My Lair?
A legendary dragon... It has been told in the stories for hundreds of years. Some say it keeps a mountain of treasure in its cave, some say it is a vicious beast, some say it protects the village nearby, some claim it can grant their wishes, and some just think it's nothing more than a fairytale. He is not. The dragon is very real, although he isn't bothered by what people think of him in the slightest. He also doesn't have a grand treasure, nor does he grant wishes, like a magical genie. He is not interested in eating humans either. And as for protecting them… well. This is the story of the time before the legends, how they came to life and a dragon in the quest of his snooze. In a nutshell, this is a simple, light-hearted story with a dragon in it. What I have in mind is a relatively short one compared to most of the works on this site, but we'll see where it goes. This is my first attempt at writing something like this, so please be patient and kind in pointing out mistakes. As for the posting schedule... let's say it will be sporadic. Hope you enjoy reading, as much as I do while writing it… THE STORY IS NOT DROPPED, JUST SLOW ON THE UPDATES. Cover art by Nane, aka me. (Cross-posted on Scribble Hub.)
