《The Digital Dungon》Chapter 2

I focus on Calumon once more. "I have two," I say to them.
Calumon looks at my core, opening and closing their mouth multiple ties before they begin. "All Classes give only one power when you gain them. Powers make it easier for a person, or core in your case, to gain Aura. The gain can be through any means, but all dungeons have the same power at the start. To summon a monster for combat." Cal sits down. "You should not have two powers before you know what they even are."
I look at my powers screen once more to see if it would give me any explanation.
Powers Cost Level Exp Sumon Digiegg 5 Ap 1 1/10 Create Digiportal 10 Ap N/A N/A
What now, powers have levels also. The damn screens decide to show it to me after I use one. They are annoying. What does digiportals not gain levels, or is it just because I have not used that power yet?
"Ygg, are you listening to me?" I notice Cal has got back to their feet. "What does your second power say?" They huff out.
"Its Create Digiportals," I tell them.
"And?" One of Cal's big eyes seems to grow with that question. "What does it's description say?"
I look back at the screen to look for anything along those lines. I am about to tell Cal that there is not a description when a new thought comes to me. When I first opened up both my Stutes and powers screens, all I had to do was focus on doing so. Maybe that's what I have to do now. I focus my intent on Create Digiportal. To my surprise, it works.
Create Digiportal.
Create a portal to a digital world. This World will be under your control. It can be modified to any specifications you like, as long as you have the Aura to do so. The first portal is set at the dungeon entrance. Two portals will be in the Digital world. One will lead back outside of the dungeon; the other will go further into the dungeon. When a sentient dies in the digital World, they will be expelled from the opening with ten health instead.
I look to Cal when I finish reading the screen out loud. This power is confusing. I get a whole world to control, that is ridiculous.

"I was created by the system to teach you about the said system," Calumon slowly speaks up. Her voice is trembling at the end. "I am supposed to know everything that you can do, but I have no how you go that power. Create digiportal is what you called it?" They pause to look at me. I confirm their question. "I know portals are a type of doorway. Instead of leading to the other side of a wall, they allow one to travel great distances. The knowledge that I gained does not say anything about dungeons being able to create portals. Well, not so early in their lives." Calumon looks away, their eyes closing tight.
"How do I get more powers?" I ask.
Calumon lets out a sigh then looks back at me. "You unlock powers with aura." Cal shakes their head before they continue to speak. "I am going to give you information on how to use Aura. To do so will take some time, so please do not interrupt me."
I agree readily. I want to know all the information that Cal can give me. Aura seems important just from what they have already told me.
"Aura is used by every creature in existence. They do not need to be sentient; even the undead use aura to keep moving. There are three things that dungeons mostly use their Aura to do. To create creatures and help them grow for battle," Cal points to the digiegg. "Build their home; the caverns, traps, and rooms. The third thing is that dungeon cores use Aura on the creation of items for adventures. Now Aura is also used to increase your level and buy powers. Increasing your level is extremely important, but once you gain some, you will slow down. To continue your growth, you will need more Aura than you can afford until more adventures travel your depths. You get powers from the system, using Aura as the currency."
"Wait, You said that there are only three things that I will use Aura to complete. That was more than three." I state.
Calumon risk toward me. "I said three things that will mostly consume your Aura. There are other ways to use it, but these are the three you will not go a week, if not a month, without doing. If you have not done so already, close your powers screen and try to open up a shop menu."

I do as they ask. Closing the powers is done with a thought, but the shop one takes more time then I would like. When I finally dose, the depth of it is surprising compared to the rest of my screens.

"So, I only have four powers to buy?" my voice dips lower then I would have liked.
Calumon turns her head sideways in thought. "For now, you only have those. You will unlock more as you gain levels, both for your self and the powers you already have."
Okay, I can buy more powers, they are expensive though. I will wait until I create my dungeon. Wait a moment, do I even want to create that dungeon Calumon keeps prattling on about. I know it is what they want me to do. I mean, it is my class. I did not get to choose my class. These damn screens just forced themselves upon me. I mean, who does that, force their will onto others, that's just sick. Even if the so-called gods did create the system, that does not mean I have to play along. I will ask Cal why I have do build a dungeon. This time I will be more forceful in getting my answers.
"Cal, Why do I have to even build a dungeon? It's not like I care about the adventures you keep bringing up. I can just lay here and do nothing."
Calumon's mouth opens their mouth to say something but closes it back instead. Their tiny hands come together, the small digits on each hand wiggling about. "I know you have only just awoken." They finally begin after some time. "You are not a normal being. For one, you don't sleep."
"I do, in fact, sleep." I cut them off before they could continue.
"No, you may feel like you do at times, but it's not the same." They pull their hands apart as they continue. "When others sleep, they dream, and time moves faster than you would think possible. For you as a core, the closest you will get to is a type of trance. Time will move at the same speed as when you are awake, you will just be ignoring what is happening around you."
Calumon's ears spread out of their head once more as they continue the speech. "You also won't die unless somebody decides to kill you. Yes, that would be a good reason why not to make a dungeon, but as time goes on, you will realize that you were wrong. I told you how the system gave me a lot of knowledge about dungeons. Most cores build to grow stronger, they enjoy the challenge. Some build for safety as they were already close to the surface, if not on already there."
I don't care about getting stronger. I also don't feel like I am that close to this surface Cal speaks about.
"That is for those cores, though," I tell her my concerns.
"Yes, those reasons are for other cores. You do not seem like someone trying to become stronger, and for right now, at least you don't need any defenders." Calumon's ears flap once, lifting them from the ground. They fly toward the wall. "Your problem is one that all cores face, Immortality!"
They pause as if I am supposed to know why that is a horrible experience for anyone. So I won't just up and die. That is not an essential issue for someone to have, It actually sounds like a functional problem that most would enjoy.
"I get what you are thinking right now, Ygg." Cal looks at me from where they stopped. "If you could actually sleep, then this would not be that big of a situation. The problem with being immortal and not sleeping is that you will be completely and utterly bored."
