Yarla kept her silence as Quln spoke while making ripping motions with both of her arms and five more blue scars appeared in the air. The scars shined and over a hundred blue orbs flooded inside the spinning barrier from those scars, making it look like a piece of gel with bubbles.

While Tus was complaining to himself, Qulns’ voice resounded once more. “By the contract with Welith, a sovereign of the undead, I beseech you, Hedoan, to come out of your tomb and destroy the enemy in front of me!”

The black fog that kept twisting and turning stopped moving altogether. Then, it withdrew, allowing the daylight to spread across the plaza. Even so, a cold wind blew across within the barrier, causing frost to form on the tiled floor.

The fog that withdrew transformed into a twenty-five foot twister that was shrinking. When it reached eight feet in height, black lightning bolted out of the single scar that Quln used to conjure the palm from before, and struck the tornado. It froze and suddenly contracted, forming an indistinct humanoid figure with a seven foot curved blade at its right side. The being stood there, completely silent as the rest of the fog transformed into a vague armor that covered its chest, arms, legs, and feet. Only the faceless head stared Yarla with a looming terror spreading out. The entire being a incarnate of darkness as its entire body, even the blade, simply absorbed the sun without any reflection of light.

“Hedoan, attack that girl, and make her unconscious.” Quln who spoke, was paler than before, and looked a little exhausted. He breathed heavily, as if he just accomplished a hard task.

Hedoan nodded and charged forward faster than a dragonfly, crossing a distance of fifteen feet in an instant.

Yarla backed to the edge of the plaza and moved her palm forward facing Hedoan. The blue orbs that continuously flowed out from the scars, flung themselves at Hedoan, moving at an even faster speed.

Hedoan brandished its sword, swinging it at the pouncing blue orbs. The sword clashed with a majority of the orbs, with some striking its body without leaving any damage, while the rest moved past it, heading to Quln.

Quln sneered and sluggishly waved one arm, causing mist to fly out from the scar that moved behind him, and formed a transparent dim barrier in front of him. The blue orbs struck the barrier, but different from the simple disappearance from when they struck Hedoan, they exploded, blocking Quln’s sight.

Seeing this he frowned, ‘It’s no use. Just accept it and it’ll be over in two moves.’

When the explosion cleared a second later, he found Hedoan trapped within the barrier that Yarla used. It hit against the barrier with tremendous force, causing it to shake and fracture, seemingly about to break completely. However, it sat at the edge of destruction without yielding while being fueled by a river of essence coming from the scars.

‘What is she doing? That will only waste her energy.’ Quln was dumbfounded, until he noticed that one of the daddy-longlegs that was near Yarla was gone, he consequently panicked as he saw something blur at his right side. It revealed itself as one of Yarla’s fifteen-foot tall daddy-longleg’s. It towered above himas it raised a leg that subsequently, and mercilessly struck down. It pierced through both, the barrier and Quln’s right shoulder. Blood splattered on the ground and the scar that was behind him began to disappear and reappear like a broken television screen.

Quln gritted his teeth to pass through the pain and swiped with his left arm. A river of black energy rushed out of the scar and crashed into the daddy-longleg. Right before it was pushed off of the ground, the daddy-longleg detached its leg and shattered upon coming into contact with the barrier.

With its heavy, fifteen-foot leg still going through his shoulder, Quln helplessly fell onto the ground.

He looked up at Hedoan who finally broke through the barrier while Yarla appeared pale, and without energy.

Just like the scar that was on the verge of disappearing, Hedoan’s body was turning into fog as it approached Yarla with its single mission. Quln desperately kept his consciousness and tried to keep the scar open through the pain.

“Another weakness that creatures from the World of Em have, is that if their connection is broken to the World of Em, then their existence is destabilized, making them weaker by at least eighty percent.” Worill’s face had a smile as he spoke confidently, “Even though they can survive in our world for a time, they can only do so if they have enough essence of their world. If their connection is severed, then the time they can stay here for is reduced significantly as well. It would be like us trying to breathe underwater, although some can, and we would find most of our strength leaving us until we die of suffocation. Not to mention, the creatures from the World of Em have to follow our instructions precisely, whether contracted or not. This would mean that the moment that Quln couldn’t say anything because of trying to endure, he allowed that Hedoan to drown without the ability to swim against a calm lake. Ha, I shouldn’t have been worried, and should have known that milady would be the one to finish it quickly.”

Yarla still maintained a cold gaze as she raised an arm, pointing it at Hedoan. The other daddy-longleg silently threw itself forward. “When you sent that contracted creature at me without any other instructions to defend itself or any sufficient protection for yourself, you’ve lost. Your over-confidence in outside strength without the genuine ability to strategize, the experience to hold your ground to pain, and your lack of courage to go against your regime to increase your own strength, will all lead to your eventual demise. This duel should serve as an example to you.” Her emotionless voice resounded in Quln’s ears, causing him to gain fear in his heart.

Any ordinary creature that came from the World of Em would have a strength of their user. Yarla’s daddy-longlegs are the same way as they are grade 8’s. A grade 8 versus a tier 1 would normally end up in a quick-one sided conclusion. However, with the tier one with at least 80% of its strength gone due to destabilization of the scar, would descend from its hefty position to grade 2 trash. The odds would turn for the originally weaker side.

Hedoan swung its fading and flickering sword at the daddy-longleg, but it was blocked by three of its legs, while another two legs pierced through its stomach and chest. With one smooth motion, Hedoan was split into three pieces that disintegrated into nothing while drifting in the air.
