Chapter 17: A Digital Universe! / Hello Anne!
“Fuck. You finally got us killed, didn't you.” Evan said
“Oi! That’s what I’m supposed to say when we die!” Said Kane
“Oh, right.” Evan said
“Anyway, this is an entry way into something you made earlier. It converted our consciousness into a digital avatar. Like how Anne is.” Said Kane
“Or like Dig*mon.” Said Evan
“Will you stop it with that? What the heck even is Dig*mon, and why do you keep talking about it?” Kane asked
“You know about Dig*mon, shut up. Also I just finished playing the first c*ber sleuth game. It was amazing. It has a world similar to this one called Eden, and there’s things called Dig*mon too. Like digital monsters.” Said Evan
“Um. By any chance did you try to create 3D assets for them?” Kane asked
“Yeah, kinda, I thought it would be fun. I programmed each of them to be exactly how Dig*mon are. Including the thinking as a sentient living creature part! Though I guess it was kinda dumb, since I never used them. I wanted to recreate Eden, too so I also left that in there.” Evan said
“You did… I’m pretty sure those things are what you're talking about, right?” Kane asked
“What? Where! Oh. A beach. OH! Are we in The Second World? I did indeed program them here!” Said Evan, surprised
“Hm. Yeah, those are Dig*mon. I see. So this would be the starting area I made. Yeah, this right here. This door leads to a recreation of the entire first game, but again, as if it were real. Choices and actions do matter in this one, and everyone inside is a person as far as both of us are concerned. They all have free will like us, and like Anne, but they were programmed as if they had lived here. Anyways, here. You can take this dig*vice if you ever wanna go have some fun in there, I know damn well I’m going to later. One day. Even if it takes me a hundred years!” Said Evan, sounding more sad than cheerful.

“You realize this is my house you're talking about, right?” Anne asked
“Oh. You’re wearing clothes. That’s good.” Said Evan
“Kane dies if I don’t” Anne said
“Well, it’s nice to meet up in person, is it not? Let’s go have some fun! Anne, how much of this place have you explored?” Evan asked
“Oh, I haven’t left the front of the hotel yet. I have no idea where we are.” Said Anne
“Then I’ll bring you guys somewhere.” Evan said
They headed to the front of the hotel
“Man, this actually is cool though. To imagine that I’d be doing something just like the game I played a few days ago. I gotta try h*ckers m*mory.” Evan said, walking towards a car.
“Alrighty, lets go.” Evan said, hopping in the passenger seat.
“Wait, hold up, you aren’t driving?” Kane asked
“Nah, the guy I was based off of hates driving, so I do too.” Said Evan
“You make no sense sometimes.” Said Kane
“Nah, you just don’t have 4th dimensional awareness.” Said Evan
“What? There’s no such thing. Is this like the time you ranted about superstition to scare me? Also which direction do I turn?” Kane asked
“Left, and yeah. Usually you get freaked out by that stuff. Why not this time?” Evan asked
“Pffft. Saying we are part of a story? How is that scary in any way? Not to mention there’s no way that’s true.” Said Kane
“Oh. Yeah...yeah, I guess not. Oh, take a right here.” Evan said
“Shit, could you have said that any later?” Kane asked
“Yes, why?” Evan asked
“You little- ugh. Yeah, fine, where now.” Kane asked
“Pull over to the side of the road right here” said Evan

“Wait, so we aren’t going to a restaurant?” Kane asked
“Yeah, that’s what I thought we were doing, too.” Said Anne
“This isn’t a restaurant, no, but it’s something for Anne.” Said Evan
“Wait, all the way out here? Actually, you still haven’t told me why the hell you programmed an entire world into Anne’s space. It was absolutely excessive, though nice.” Said Kane
“I don’t really get it either.” Said Anne
“Well, that’s because this is where almost everyone else has to live during the war. Or we all might die.” Said Evan

Agenda of the Villainess
As the daughter of a duke, Lady Alicia Senius expected to awaken her latent magical ability during her Blooming ceremony. She was not expecting her connection to the flowers of Fate to awaken memories of a past life, however, and certainly not memories that were somehow inextricably tied with her future. Now, Alicia must find a way to escape the fatal punishment that is the destiny of a villainous noble girl. In doing so, she might even alter the fate of the whole world. This novel is a steampunk take on the otome villainess genre, heavily inspired by the late Victorian era of England and with a system of magic based around floweral circuitry. If that sounds like your cup of tea, why not give it a shot? Updates on Thursday every week.
