Chapter 12: When a Flashback Ends
“Yeah, that was some stupid bullshit, I still don’t understand how you pulled it off. Or what that machine does.” Said Kane
“You say that a lot.” Said Evan
“Yeah! It’s not EVERY DAY that someone gets BORED and decides to take over the world for FUN! Gods, you really are a loonie.” Said Kane
“I actually have a good reason. We rule the world, and you don't even ask me why.” Evan said, munching on a carrot
“I’ll ask you a question instead, why the hell are you imitating bugs bunny?” Kane asked
“I’m literally just eating a carrot.” Said Evan
“You are literally the most unhealthy person I know. You only eat things you like, unless it’s for a joke or a skit. The only fruits or vegetables I ever see you eat are limes, apples, pears, um…. Those are the only things I can think of off the top of my head. Lots of fruits, almost any I guess. Mostly limes, though. Or lime flavored things. It’s a wonder you’re still looking like that. Wish I had that metabolism.” Said Kane
“Carrots have a subtle sweetness that is amazing with its satisfying crunch, and if you get them right, they aren’t bitter. Though it does add a somewhat unique earthy taste.” Said Evan
“Fuckin ell.” Kane said
“Oh, right. Let’s go to your workshop, the machine I asked you to make is done, right?” Evan asked
“Yeah. It’s in room 2.” Kane said
“K, come with me, I’m gonna put the last part of something I was installing in there together, and take you to the machine. Well…actually... I guess the machine has to wait until tomorrow, we might be busy with work tonight. I have some work I gotta do at the office, and Phil needs me to sign off on some papers.” Said Evan

Evan picked up one of the crystals off of the table and a small gadget. He attached the gadget to the crystal and pressed a button. The crystal turned into a liquid and the gadget absorbed it through little holes.
“That one should do it.” Said Evan. He had made this crystal specifically with Kane’s abilities in mind.
“Um, that thing fits into the slot on the machine, right?” Kane asked
“Are you seriously just able to build and improve my machines without knowing what they are for?” Evan asked
“No. I know what the machine does, yes. But, just as you can kill someone with a knife for evil, that knife can be used to cook, depending on who wields it, or what kind of knife it is.” Kane said
“True. So, you know what it does, but not what it’s for. And you don’t get what the use of it would be?” Evan asked
“You always ask me this whenever you make something you are super excited about. This machine is starting to catch my attention. I did think it was weird and different from the normal stuff, but…” Kane said
“Yeah, don’t worry.” Said Evan
“Fine. Last time it was awesome. I’ll do the same this time. But I'm always worried.” Said Kane
“Oh, but no needles. The thing doesn’t have any, but still.” Said Kane
“Yeah, yeah, I know. Well, we can do that tomorrow, I guess. These preperations are taking a lot of time. I guess it does need to be ready in the next couple days...” Evan said, getting a text. He was getting pretty busy lately.

Sand, Clouds, and Steel
Thearth. A sand planet with little to offer. Only the great crawler cities provide any form of permanency other than the great desert. Continuously roaming the sands in search of clouds, the only source of water, and quite possibly the next great Vortex. A being/machine/creature or something else entirely that forms a massive floating island and provides the other essential resource necessary for life, Aserite. It is used to power everything and anything. People cannot just take it as they will. They must fight the Vortex's guardians to claim the almost magical resource. This is a dungeon core storm story that I am working on in my free time. Please feel free to leave constructive criticism as I want to grow as an author.
