The group stuck close together with the former king in the middle to protect him. They cautiously searched the room and one of them touched the wall and suddenly, the wall moved, revealing a door.

One of the knights opened the door cautiously and what greeted his sight was a brightly lit room. The group were blinded by the sudden surge of light that had entered their eyes. The former king was the first to be able to adjust to the sudden light.

The room was simple looking and had many doors that led to other rooms, but it was obvious that there was probably many high-tech equipment further inside. Just as the others were starting to be able to adjust to the light, a group of people ambushed the group from behind.

All of them weren’t able to react in time and was assaulted with a stun gun, making them lose their consciousness.

At the same time in the furthest room underground

Kazuya gradually gained consciousness and he could feel that his arms and legs were tied up so he wouldn’t be able to move. His eyes were also blindfolded so he couldn’t see where he was.

“You’re awake?” Lilica’s gentle and loving voice sounded near Kazuya.

Surprised, Kazuya blurted out, “Lilica?!”

What was his wife, who should be staying at home, doing here? Wait, was this actually all a dream and he had just woken up, back in his own room?

“The guy’s woken up.” The sinister voice of a man entered his ears, a huge contrast to the gentle tone of Lilica’s voice earlier.

As soon as Kazuya heard the man’s voice, he quickly shut up and tried to free himself but to no avail.

He felt a figure approaching him and he wanted to step back but he couldn’t move as he wanted. The figure took off the cloth that was covering his eyes, making Kazuya able to see again.

Kazuya quickly searched the room but didn’t see Lilica at all. There was only a man sitting leisurely on a throne-like chair and a group of men that seemed to be his subordinates. Was he hallucinating Lilica’s voice earlier?

“Looking for her?” the man on the chair asked as he tapped the screen of his phone.

A voice sounded from the phone, “You’re awake?”

Kazuya felt relieved to know that Lilica wasn’t here but the fact that this man had his wife’s voice recording was very creepy to him.

“Why do you have a recording of her voice?” Kazuya asked.

“Well, what do you think?” the man asked back in an ambiguous tone, as if suggesting something between him and Lilica.

Of course, Kazuya wasn’t about to fall for that and asked again, “Since when did you plant a listening device near her?”

“Oh, the prince is smarter than he seems. As a reward for guessing correctly about the fact that I planted a listening device, I’ll answer one of the questions in your head for you. You want to know why I played this recording as soon as you woke up, right? It’s to make you let your guard down and not feign asleep. I’d be in trouble if you didn’t cooperate with me.” The man replied as a dangerous smile formed on his face.

“What do you mean by cooperate?” Kazuya asked cautiously, trying it out different magic spells to loosen the rope on his arms and legs.

“Be patient. The chess pieces are still not in their right positions so how can we start the game just yet? Oh, and I suggest that you stop doing that if you don’t want to tire yourself out unnecessarily.” The man said as he glanced at Kazuya’s hands that were trying to use magic before he stood up and walked closer to where Kazuya was lying.

Just by looking at the man in front of him, Kazuya could tell that this man was not ordinary. He was probably ten times, no, a hundred times more powerful than him. If they were to fight, he would surely lose. It was highly possible that this man was the man they were all searching for, Michael!

“Hang him.” the man ordered his subordinates as he kicked Kazuya in the stomach just for fun.

As a vampire, Kazuya had naturally better physical abilities than most demons. Not only that, he was the second prince, so he was trained ever since he was small to be able to fight. Nonetheless, just a kick from this man almost made him spat out blood at the impact. This man was really strong. Just a light kick from him was enough for Kazuya to feel like he was probably bleeding internally.
