The next day

The couple returned to work and Kazuya told Lilica to go move her stuff first and since he had to take a business call, he’ll help her out later.

Lilica finally returned to working after so many months. Although there weren’t many secretaries in the office, it was still a department. When she walked inside, her colleagues all looked at her with weird gazes. When Lilica looked back, everyone just avoided her. What was happening?

Lilica put down her bag and turned to ask her desk mate, Suzuna.

“Hey, Suzuna! Long time no see. Do you happen to know why everyone is looking at me like that?” Lilica quickly got to the point since she didn’t know what was wrong. Was she wearing her make up strangely?

In the whole office, she only hung out with Suzuna, so she was her only source of hope of finding out what was happening.

“Lilica! Well, after you disappeared for so long, rumors started popping up here and there. I heard some rumors that you offended the CEO and was fired and went back to England! Some even say that you suddenly got pregnant out of wedlock and was too stressed out to work or that you got married and resigned! There were also rumors that you committed suicide from the stress, or you were in an accident, leading to a coma. But there were quite a lot of nasty rumors. Like you seduced our CEO to get your promotion, or you became a mistress for some rich guy and didn’t need to work anymore. Everyone just assumed that you already resigned and that there was no one fit for being the secretary, so your desk as left as it was.” Suzuna cheerfully told her the gossip.

She then added, “But I believed that you would come back! I know you’re not like what they say in the rumors!”

Lilica didn’t know that there would be so many gossips about her while she was away. Maybe it was because she was the only ‘foreigner’, according to her resume, so she got the special attention from everyone. In fact, some of the rumors were even correct!

Seeing that Lilica was silent, Suzuna whispered so that only the two of them could hear, “So, are any of the rumors true?”

“Well…” Lilica didn’t know what to say as she glanced at her protruding stomach. She had worn a lose fitting dress today, so her stomach wasn’t as obvious.

Seeing her actions, Suzuna’s eyes widen. “Don’t tell me you’re really pregnant!” Suzuna exclaimed loudly, making everyone’s head turn towards them, specifically at Lilica’s stomach.

“Umm…” Lilica didn’t like the feeling of being in the limelight like this.

Just as the whole department office was silent, the automatic door opened, disrupting the pin drop silence.

Everyone consequently turned to look at the person who was waiting for the door to open fully.

As the doors opened, the person lifted his face, revealing his handsome cold face. Everyone was stunned by this man’s entrance. However, the man wasn’t bothered by everyone’s reaction. He walked straight towards Lilica’s desk and said in a gentle voice, “Have you finished packing?”

Everyone in the room but Lilica was so surprised and stunned that their jaws dropped. Was this really our cold and indifferent CEO?! Was this really the same man that had scolded countless employees to the point of tears without batting an eye? He could actually use such a gentle tone? Was the rumor about these two getting together true after all? Wait, was the CEO actually kicking her out of the company and waiting for her to pack her stuff away for the new secretary?

“I just reached my desk. There’s not that much stuff anyways. I can carry it by myself.” Lilica replied with a smile as she quickly gathered the documents on her desk into a pile.

“No, I’ll carry it for you. I don’t want you to force yourself to carry these heavy documents. I don’t want to lose our baby just because you want to play tough!” Kazuya said as he picked the pile of documents up and put her stationeries into a box. He then carried the box and continued asking, “Is this all?”

“I think so.” Lilica replied helplessly as she looked at him with eyes filled with affection and appreciation.

“Okay. I’ll move these to my office then. Do you want to stay here to chat first?” Kazuya asked as he remembered that she was in the middle of talking with her desk mate. Usually, if another employee was chatting during work hours, he would have already deducted their salary, but this was his wife so she could do whatever she wanted! It’s basically her company already anyways!
