“Urgh!” the man grunted as he felt an excruciating pain on his back from the whip.

Hearing her husband’s voice filled with pain, the woman on the other end panicked. However, she couldn’t think of any other ways to stop the man from torturing her husband except to give more information on the royal family. She didn’t want to betray them but she also didn’t want her husband to become crippled.

“Stop! I’ll tell you anything you want, okay? Just let him go… Please!” the woman begged as she was covered in tears.

“That voice…” the man trailed off when he heard the familiar voice of his wife. They had both been busy with work and hadn’t seen each other in years. Why was his voice on the other end of the phone? Was she always keeping in touch with the boss?

However, the man couldn’t continue thinking as his consciousness started to fade. He was whipped so hard that he could feel his bones cracking. The pain had caused him to feel dizzy as he fainted.

“Tell me what the royal family are planning to do next.” The boss said in a sinister voice as he stopped whipping the poor man on the floor.

“The king has sent several people to investigate in the human world. They seemed to have some ideas of your hideout. The second prince will also be returning to the human world next week. However, he will be going back once a month so the second princess can have a checkup. They will also return to the demon realm three months before the baby’s due date.” The woman replied guiltily and unwillingly. She had told the enemy everything that she knew but she was still scared that the enemy would do something to her husband.

“Things would’ve gone much faster if you’d tell me everything from the start. Your poor little husband wouldn’t have to suffer any pain.” The man said before hanging up.

As he was about to order his subordinates, his phone rang.

The man glanced at the screen and frowned. He then answered the call.

“Father, it seems like my betrothal to Ron has gone smoothly. Thank you for allowing me to engage with him.” A young girl’s voice sounded cheerfully from the other side of the call.

“Have you met the royal family yet?” the man asked.

“Yes, they were very friendly to me, although I’ve only met the princes and their wives.” The girl replied.

“Good. I have a little ‘gift’ for them. Can you send it to them in my place?” the man asked as he revealed a sinister grin.

“Sure! Just give it to me and I’ll give it to them.” The girl replied cheerfully. This was the first time ever that her father had actually cared about their conversation. This made her feel moved. Maybe her constant effort to talk to him had finally shown results.

The man was satisfied and was about to hang up when the girl’s voice sounded, “Father, when are you be coming back this time?”

“Soon.” The man replied before he hung up quickly. He then laughed sinisterly. Having such an obedient daughter was so convenient! This daughter of his wasn’t so useless after all. Perhaps, she may be the key to overthrowing the royal family…

At Ven’s manor

It had already been several months ever since Ven and Ventina started living together. Although they lived in the same house, they had been sleeping in different rooms. Now that they were dating, living in the same room felt more natural so Ventina had moved to live in his room. It was now about a month ever since she started living in his room and she still couldn’t get used to it.

The way Ven treated her felt like a dream. Not only that, Ven’s parents were very supportive of their relationship and even constantly asked her when she wanted to get married.

It was still in the morning and Ventina groggily woke up in Ven’s embrace. She still hadn’t gotten used to this feeling so she felt a light tickle to her heart. Ventina blushed slightly and decided to try to go back to sleep as she bundled herself up with the blanket.

“Are you awake?” the man sleeping next to her asked.

Ventina was about to reply when Ven mumbled to himself, “She’s probably still asleep. We did it until late last night so she should still be sleeping.”

When Ventina heard this, her mischievous side surfaced and she pretended to be asleep, wondering what he was going to do to her.

Seeing that there was no response, Ven thought that she was asleep so he slowly and quietly sat up. He then looked at her seriously as he whispered, “Let’s get married.”

Ventina was so shocked since she thought that he hadn’t been thinking that far for their relationship yet.

Ven then continued whispering to himself, “No… not like this… It should sound more romantic…”

He then whispered, “I love you, will you marry me?”

However, he still frowned and mumbled, “This doesn’t sound special or unique at all…”

“You are the love of my life! I can’t live without you! Please marry me!”

Ven shook his head and mumbled, “This sounds too desperate too… Urgh! Why is it so hard to propose?!”

He was already racking his brain for anything at this point. Why could he propose to Lilica so easily but when it comes to Ventina, he couldn’t put his feelings into words and propose to her?
