Chapter 25: Chaos
Ajax stared wide-eyed at his T.V. screen. The news station had live helicopter footage of the chaos.
“As you can see, indescribable creatures are wreaking havoc. Blood runs through the streets, and pillars of fire burn higher than any building,” the reporter was saying as a small body seemed to leap off the ground and approached the camera. “Maestros and Officers are working tirelessly to evacuate citizens as the titans, Penitulus Ren and Victor Vex, battle against increasing odds.” The body grew closer, its claws seemingly reared to rip the helicopter out of the sky. “Holy Shit! Move!” Ajax roared. The newscaster screamed as he finally noticed the creature approaching. Suddenly, in a blur, the creature vanished, removed from the sky. “Did, you see that! That was Penitulus it had to be!” The reporter said.
The room shook as a loud crash came from the other side of the house. “Mom,” Ajax said in realization as he bolted. He ran into his mother’s bedroom and saw a scaled creature moments away from ripping her head off, “Fuck off!” He roared as a surge of electricity burst from his fingers instantly electrocuting the creature. The foul scent of burning flesh filled the room as the creature turned to ash. “Mom,” Ajax said as he fell to his knees by his mother, “Shit, every time, he’s never here.”
“I’m fine Ajjy,” His mother said weakly.
“Mrs Vex!” A man said as he ran into the room. His dark hair was cut short and tight and fit well with his suit and tie.
“Took you long enough Alex,” Ajax said, as he helped his mother up. “Get her out of the City, make sure she’s safe or that’ll be you.” He pointed to the creature that was almost gone. Then he moved towards the hole in the wall that it created.

“Ajax, where you going?” Alex called.
“There’s someone I have to check up on,” He said before jumping out and running into the rubble covered streets.

Eli’s mother sat motionless on her couch, her eyes were glued to the T.V. Chaos and mayhem, people getting ripped in two, emergency messages telling all citizens to evacuate or stay indoors filled the screen. She worried about Eli, but somehow, knew he would manage through all this.
Then, she heard a noise coming from her bedroom, shattering glass. She got up and stepped slowly towards the door. She stared at the dark corridor and saw the creature leap out. It was small, the size of a six-year-old child, but it was devilish. It walked on all fours, had pitch-black eyes and jagged teeth. It growled as it slowly prowled around her, waiting, watching for the perfect opportunity to strike. Then, with a jolt, Jen ran for the kitchen prompting the creature to leap.
She reached for a rolling pin and swung it around slapping the creature, mid-air, in the face.It fell dazed. She used the opportunity to make for the door but the creature recovered quickly and chased after her again. Its claws struggled to hold onto the polished hardwood floor. Just as She got the door the creature latched onto her back. The pain of its claws didn’t cloud her judgment as she shattered a window pane with the rolling pin and drove one of the shards into its eye.
The creature fell to the floor, screeching in pain until it finally vanished into ashes. Satisfied with her win Jen prepped to heal her self, but there was no time to relax. A muscled tail broke through the door and pulled her out into the driveway. The creature turned, Slobber dripped from its mouth. Jen braced herself as the creature pounced. Then, in a crackling flash, the creature fell to the ground.

“Thanks, Ajax,” Jen said as she breathed a sigh of relief.
“Whatever,” he responded as he helped her up. “OW!” he roared when Jen slapped him, “What the fuck!”
“That’s for giving my son hell,” She responded.
“Sorry – OW!”.
“And that was for cursing in front of me, you’re still a child in my eyes, no matter how much of a prodigy you are.” Ajax soothed his red cheek as his eye’s widened and darted back and forth frantically, “Where’s El -,”
“He’s not here,” Jen answered his unfinished question.
“What do mean he’s not here? He’s out there! He’ll get himself killed!”
“He’ll be fine, he’s tougher than you think . . . That means you can stop looking out for him, or at least ease off a bit.”
“What? I never -, he just pisses me off! whatever. We should get going,” he turned away, ” Cops are escorting people to safety, it seems that things are dying down.”
“Dying down?” Jen asked worriedly, “You’re right, we should leave before things really get hairy”.
