《The Titanic Fanatic》Chapter 2 - Coeus

John followed Rax into the cafeteria, when he realized something very odd. He remembered this particular cafeteria as the one that was always locked for some reason, but no staff said anything more than “We lost the keys, and they were unique so we’ll never be able to open that door again, sorry,” and no student cared enough to dig any deeper. John wondered how this cafeteria just opened up all of a sudden.
“Hey Rax, how is this cafeteria open?” John asked warily.
Rax seemed confused. “What do you mean?” He asked.
Now John was confused. “Are you a new student? How do you not know that this cafeteria was locked since the school opened and no one knows why?” He asked, suspicious.
Rax looked surprised for a moment, but quickly recovered. “Oh yes, I am a new student in this province,” he smiled. “I had no idea that this was supposed to be locked. It was open when I wandered in here. Therefore, I expected this area to be public. Now my discovery makes sense,” he said in a strained manner, like he was reaching for words.
John wasn’t buying it. No way. This guy is actually creeping me out now. For the first time in his life, John felt truly scared of someone. Nope, I’m out of here
John just turned and ran, but to his horror, the door swung shut and locked.
“Oh, shit,” he said and spun around. Rax was still smiling and holding another door open on the other side of the cafeteria.
“Hey, look, an exit,” he said. “Let us see where it leads.” Rax went inside.
John had no choice. He was at his wit’s end. He simply followed, prepared to use his superior boxing skills to his advantage, and went through the door. As he did so, he went his surroundings change into a dark, damp room that was so large that he couldn’t see all the walls. He was shocked and when he looked back, the door was gone.

John pinched himself. Wake up! Wake up John! He thought. He looked towards Rax and got ready to fight... or something like that. He wasn’t really sure at this point. Rax was right... everything he thought about the world was changing by the second.
Oddly enough, nothing came out to try to kill him. Rax was standing there, pointing at what looked like a very large open casket on its side, open side facing them. The cover had slid off and had a word written on it in beautiful golden calligraphy: Coeus.
Coeus? That sounds familiar... where have I heard that word before? John thought.
The casket was about 200 feet long, 40 feet wide, and 70 feet tall. What shocked John the most, however, was the absolutely massive giant inside it.
There was a huge man inside the casket, and he had a white beard that was three times John’s size alone. He was wearing white cloth and looked like a very enlarged version of Gandalf without the hat.
“See, my good friend. The proof is in front of your eyes,” he said. Suddenly, Rax widened his eyes out of surprise as a red wispy substance flew out of him and into the giant. Rax looked surprised and frightened.
“What the hell was that? What’s happening?” Rax shouted, and John noticed that for the first time, Rax talked and acted normally.
Is this some sort of demonic possession? John shuddered, but he had to keep his composure to not freak out Rax even more. “Rax, I think you’re no longer possessed by whatever that was. We should try to find a way out of here.”
Rax looked at John, slowly recovering. “Shit, I think I just accidentally unleashed a monster,” he said solemnly.
“Do you remember anything? What happened?” John asked. Before Rax could answer, the giant rustled slightly, spasmed intensely, and then fell out of the casket.
To John’s horror, the ground shook and the massive old man opened his striking golden eyes, and looked at him.
With a loud, rumbling voice, the giant spoke. “I shall grant you the knowledge of that which has transpired.”

Path of Boundless Adventure
When Mana flooded back to Earth after billions of years, most felt lost in the new world. Some managed to adapt. For Michael, he felt like he'd finally found his path. Follow him as he fights monsters, explores new lands and most of all, seeks adventure. This is my first novel, never written anything before, so please be kind and patient with me, I'm doing my best. A more light-hearted post-apocalyptic novel with large amounts of game elements. MC has a unique advantage but is not massively overpowered and there's more of a focus on exploring and discovering new things rather than defeating a series of arch-nemesis' or building an empire. The 8th Day
One day life is good. The next day it isn't! The boundaries between... well, whatever they're between.. have shattered! Monsters burst out from cracks in the universe, and reality suddenly begins to function similar to a game -- but not a game that anyone knows all the rules about! Magic is suddenly real, but so are monsters and death! Lots of death! And the worst part of it all? I think we did it to ourselves! We invented video games, and personally I think that great Finger-in-the-Sky picked up a console somewhere and started playing them. Since He liked what he saw, he must've declared, """"On the 8th Day, let there be Game!"But what do I know about it all, really. After all, I'm just """"The Witness"""" forced to observe it all.__________________________________________________________________________Author's Note: There's a lot of tales where characters get stuck in a Virtual Reality. """"Sword Art Online"""", """"Log Horizon"""", """"The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor"""". This is a story told with the premise inverted -- instead of a person from reality going into a virtual world, what would happen if the virtual world instead came to reality?I want this tale to speak about the aspects of the game, as it has affected the current reality, but the focus of the story should never be on the """"reality-turned-game"""" itself, but on the characters and their oh-so-human struggles, personalities, and attempt to adjust and live within the bounds of their new existence. Hopefully this won't just be a story of """"reality turned into a game"""", but instead will be something more meaningful such as a story of the strengths, perseverance, and humanity of man-kind as they try to adapt and face the unknown.*** And, most importantly, I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. ***WARNING: RATED MATURE M[18+] FOR GORE, SEX, VIOLENCE. The apocalypse isn't a pretty place to try to survive in, and neither is every scene in a story trying to describe it.
