《The Titanic Fanatic》Chapter 1- Meeting Rax

The bell rang with its usual shrill cry.

"Finally!" John sighed. The bell always irritated him, but it was a necessity that he just had to put up with... along with everything else. These "teachers" and "classes" and school in general were so flawed. John knew that if he was in control of the school system, he would be able to make it so much better. You know, actually focus on practical applications and things that actually matter in life...

John realized his mind went off on a tangent again, and that he was still sitting down on his desk while everyone else was shuffling out of the classroom door, some occasionally shooting hostile glares at him. The class just got back their calculus test and as always, John was the only one who aced it. Not to mention that he doesn't even study, but everyone knows that already. How much can a teenager study when he is Captain of Varsity Boxing, President of Volunteering Club, and Head Researcher at a nearby community college-in high school?

While he was thinking, he caught the eye of a tall student dressed in all yellow, probably a senior, staring at him. This wasn't the wierd part for John, because people stare at him alot out of jealousy and he loves it. The wierd part was that this guy wasn't staring with envy. John couldn't quite put his finger on what it was, but the student kept staring at him until some girl walked through their line of sight. Immediately, the tall student was nowhere to be seen. John guessed that either he was hallucinating, or this student was the fastest person he had ever seen in his life.

Well, that was... wierd. He shook his head to clear his mind.

Quickly, he stood up and left the classroom, taunting all who looked enviously glared at him with his usual cocky grin. As he came out, another boy came across the hallway and greeted him.

"Hey John, you wanna meet up online and play some StarCraft. I could use some help from the number one player in the world." He said solemnly.

"Relax Ed, it's just a game. You're taking it way too seriously," John replied, smiling, despite knowing Ed would get triggered. He just couldn't resist. John just felt that there was just something so satisfying about mildly triggering people, even his friends. He got ready for the cringe.

"You're telling me that? You out of all people? My life's dream is to be the number one StarCraft player in the world, and I play for hours and hours on end, and you play for an hour a day tops and you're still first!" Ed yelled, panting towards the end with a red face. John was just laughing his ass off at this point, and people around were looking at him like he was crazy. After John gathered his bearings, he resumed the conversation.

"OK, You know how busy I am right? I'll be free at 8 PM. Be online," John said, gave Ed a pat on the back, and left to teach the freshmen how to play golf. As he was making his way to the field, the mysterious guy dressed in yellow came out of a random corner and looked at John.

"Hello, good sir. My name is Rax, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," he held out his hand.

So this guy acts wierd, talks wierd, and has a unique name. Oh, and dissappeared in front of me. Hmm... intriguing, to say the least.

Warily, John shook his hand and introduced himself.

"Hi, I'm John Doe. Nice to meet you but I can't talk right now because I have to go somewhere. Bye," he said and was about to leave, but Rax grabbed his shoulder to stop him.

”Wait! I must show you something that is a matter of great importance! It redefines everything we thought we knew about the world, and I feel that you are the only person who would know how to best proceed henceforth!” he exclaimed. John raised an eyebrow, doubtful. However, he sure enjoyed being flattered as it fed his ever-growing ego.

“Something of great importance, you say? I’ll do your homework for 20 bucks or a project for 100,” John stated, purposefully ignoring the part about redefining worlds, because that was just too crazy for him to take without a grain of salt.

“None of that,” Rax said. “There is a place in this school where I found something so otherworldly and exciting that I think you will be intrigued by it.” Rax immediately turned around started walking towards one of the school’s many cafeterias, waving John along. “Follow me.”

If it’s more “otherworldly” than you, then I’ll genuinely be surprised, John thought, but his curiosity got the better of him and he followed Rax anyway.

Might as well humor the guy... What’s the batshit craziest thing that could possibly happen anyway?
