《My Story in the Otherworld》Chapter 4

When I woke up, there was no mosquito bites or anything which baffled me because in the end, this is a forest where mosquito bites are as common as books in a bookstore.
(Author's Note: I don't know man. If you have something better comment down lmao.)
As I started to get ready to leave, I saw a glimpse of a shadow which did not look good for me.
Even though I just woke up, my guard was at an all time high and I felt like even if Koro Sensei from Assassination Classroom appeared behind me, I would stay calm and counter him. I slowly stood up from my makeshift bed and started to look around for any other glimpses. After a while, I saw shadows a couple of times, but nothing came directly towards me. It seemed like the creature was waiting for me to lower my guard.
'Hmph, trying to screw with me? I'll show you what a goddamn human from another world can do,'
I looked around a little bit more and again saw a shadow and as soon as I saw that, I bolted the opposite direction. Even though my foot started to hurt, as long as I was stuck in an encirclement, I knew I was never getting out. I started to feel a chill behind my back while I was running so when I saw an especially huge tree that was able to cover my entire body, I ran behind it. I immediately used Conceal Aura so that whatever was following behind me was not able to find me. When I carefully looked behind me, the creature that was stalking me showed its true form. It was a blue spider that was as big as I was and everything about it just looked disgusting.
'A spider?! I have arachnophobia! Why is it a spider?!' Even though I did not want to look at it for a single second more, I quickly checked its stats

'It's also level 10 and has magic damage as well. This is not looking good for me,' I haven't checked my stats in a while so I quickly checked my stats out as well to compare.

'Alright, I'm a little bit slower than it, but I should be able to do it...' I thought.
I carefully observed the spider that was carefully searching for me. However, my Conceal Presence was too high leveled for it and it was starting to leave. I slowly followed it and after a couple of minutes, we arrived at the spider's home. It was a big web that had various monsters completely covered with the spider's silk.
While I was waiting for the spider to leave the web, in the bottom left corner, I noticed something moving. It was a girl that looked around my age and by the looks of her outfit, she looked like an aristocrat. I looked next to her to see 2 bodies covered in spider silk. It seems that those 2 were her bodyguard of some sort, but in the end became the spider's breakfast.
It seems that the spider was now hungry from stalking me so it slowly walked towards the girl. Seeing this, I realized I did not have any time left. I quickly equipped my Katana and maxed out all my skills from leveling up to level 10 yesterday. Then I proceeded to pick up a rock and threw it at the spider.

The spider roared and started to run towards me. It was extremely fast, but not at a level where I could not see it. When it arrived in front of me, it lifted up one of its leg and swung it at me. I quickly used Draw.
Ting!
I did not expect the spider's leg to be as hard as metal. I quickly took a few steps back to give myself some space to think out a plan. However, the spider did not leave any breathing room. It immediately ran once again to dish out swings from its legs. All I could do was to continuously block and wait for an opening.
Ting!
Ting!
Ting!
Ting!
To my dismay, the spider left nothing for me to use and I was starting to get cornered. The spider noticed that I was in trouble and lifted both of its legs. It swung its two legs down with extreme speed. My only option was to block it.
Ting!
Ssssst!
Sparks were forming and the spider's legs were slowly coming down to my body. However, since my STR was slightly higher, I was able to hold my ground and we were at a standstill. After a couple of seconds, I realized that the spider's power started to dwindle and I was slowly getting the upper hand. A couple more seconds later, I was finally able to overpower the spider and used Counter.

RAWRGHHHHHHH!
Green blood started to pour out of the wound I inflicted on the spider. It jumped back and like Spiderman, it shot its web onto a branch on a tree and the spider jumped onto the tree.
I was confused on what was going on, but in that second, the spider shot a green liquid towards me. While I did not know for sure what it was, I had a vague idea so I quickly dodged it.
When I saw where the green liquid hit, the ground started to melt.
'It was acid like I thought it would be,'
The spider started to shoot out more green liquid and all I could do was dodge.
While I was dodging, the girl stuck at the web started to scream at me.
"I could use fire magic. If you free me and give me a couple of seconds, I have enough firepower to kill it,"
That felt like the words of a god to me. I rushed towards her and swung my katana to slice the web that was trapping her.
Sst!
Sst!
I realized that I did not have enough time to free her. I only cut halfway till I realized that from behind an acid ball came right towards me.
I turned around and blocked the acid. Surprisingly, the Katana did not melt, but it splatted everywhere hitting my legs and arms.
"Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

I saw the muscles in my legs throbbing, but after a couple of seconds, I stopped feeling the pain.
'Adrenaline must be the reason why. I have to end this fast!' I thought.
While the acid did injure me, it also worked in my favor. The spider web on the girl started to melt and she fell down.
"Are you ok?" The girl asked with worry.
"I'm fine. I'm going to attract its attention so prepare whatever you need to do!"
"Yeah!" The girl said.
I started to run again. However, I wasn't as fast as before and each acid ball that the spider shot at me were extremely close. My stamina was almost done, but right before I was about to fall, I heard the best thing I've heard in 17 years.
"Fire Beam!"
From behind me, I saw a bright light coming out from a stick that the girl was holding.
I saw the spider get hit with that beam and when the beam disappeared, it was gone as well.
"We did it!" I shouted. However, before I could celebrate, I lost consciousness.

Fateless: The Silver Lining
It has been ten years of peace for the Union since the end of the great war with the eastern barbarian tribes, yet in the cold north of the Union's land, a new threat is looming. This time, an ambitious Lord is seeking to restore the yore pride of his kin, forcing the weakened Union into yet another unwanted war, as he ramps up the ranks of his army with thieves, murderers and mercenaries.* * *The temperature inside the forge was nearly twice as high as the one outside. A black-haired girl hammered a steel ingot into the shape of a blade. The heat of the steam was draining her stamina away, but her focus remained sharp as her sweat streamed down her face. Hit after hit, for hours, the sound of the hammering steel followed the rhythm of her breathing. Exhausted, she placed the blade into the water and wiped the sweat off her face using a drenched rag. Why are they screaming? Vatra dipped the rag back in the water, twisted it, and approached the window. Her mouth opened as her world shattered again into the living nightmare she had wilfully tried to forget. She bit her lips; it wasn’t a dream. The pulse of her heart rose. A cold sweat prickled her back. A mother was running, and a child was screaming. A torrent of smoke was emerging from the roof of her neighbour. Vatra’s eyes blinked. The mother lay on the ground, a spear through her back. A torch circled in the air and landed on the roof of her workshop. In the distance, a man wearing a banner well known to the world… Fateless is a philosophical medieval dark low fantasy centered on war, militaristic campaigns and geopolitical conflicts between multiple empires. This story follows the fate of Vatra, a former slave from the eastern Nar Empire who was raised in a culture far away from her own, forced into warfare against her will, and the fate of Lanaya, an ambitious half-angel exiled from her home whose existence is seen as heresy. As they wished for peace, both chose a path opposed to one another until their fate crossed. In this story where war dictates the law, love strikes them as a poisoned balm to which they grasp for with all their might, as it is in the darkest of times that the smallest flames may burn the brightest. * * * Tome 1 already completed and available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Fateless-Silver-Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot/dp/B09LGSH1KK Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot-100547579135891/ I will publish 1 chapter per week (sometimes 2 if the chapters are too short for my liking).

Lear County Outlook
Based on true events in my life. Think of these stories as H P Lovecraft meets Rob Zombie. Each story has pieces, confessions, from the rural decay of Appalachia wrapped in horror and madness. All are set in the fictional county of Lear, which is a dark mirror held up to surface, idealized countryside. Blood and familial ties bind deep in a hopeless and rotted south. Tales are whispered of Hill Witches and Demons. Shunned communities molder. All these truths are hidden in the stories of deceit and lies. The first arc revolves around theft and exploitation at one of the last factories of Lear County. Abuse of power draws all down the path of madness.
