《My Story in the Otherworld》Chapter 18

While I was tailing the 4 of them, Ryze let out a hand motion and then immediately, Janna and Lionel went the opposite direction. While I wanted to follow them, I remembered that Lionel was the spy so I decided to continue tailing Ryze and Viktor.
During our travel, Ryze and Viktor started to disguise themselves. When they were done, their new identities became an old man with gray hair who looked around 60 and a young man with black hair that looked like he was around 20.
After a couple of minutes, we arrived at a big inn that almost resembled a 3 star hotel back on Earth. It had 2 floors, the first most likely being the dining room and the 2nd floor being the rooms. Next to the front door was 2 soldiers guarding the door. After looking at each other and nodding, Ryze and Viktor entered the inn. I decided to stay outside to wait for them as it would suspicious if I went in around the same hour as them.
About an hour of waiting later, two extremely familiar men bursted out of the inn. They were the 2 bodyguards that were protecting Varin, the young noble that I scolded yesterday.
They were looking around frantically as if looking for something most likely their young master.
It seems that the two succeeded. Many more guests started to come out due to confusion and I also saw the disguised face of Ryze and Viktor. They started to use the crowd to move away, but I saw them. In order to see who they would kidnap next, I followed them back into the house.
When they went back inside the house and into the room, I immediately looked a crack they left open. When I looked through the doors, they were taking out a red crystal and Ryze closed his eyes. After a couple of seconds, the red crystal started to glow. A couple of seconds after it started to glow, a female voice started to come out.

"Lionel betrayed us. He was a spy for the government. I'm being chased by at least 10 soldiers. Fortunately, I found a hiding space a couple of minutes ago. However, I think I'll be found within the next couple of minutes. I'm probably not going to make it so I just want to say I love you Dad and thank you so much for taking care of me and taking me in when I was in despair. Let the Kingdom of Piton fall!" The red glow became dimmer and dimmer until the crystal went normal again. I deduced that this was a communications crystal.
'That's one shitty phone,' I thought.
Ryze was standing there with a baffled expression. After a while, his tears started to come out and he broke down. Viktor just started to watch and I saw something that sent chills down my spine.
He was smiling.
He looked down towards Ryze with the most evil grin I have ever seen my entire life and started to walk towards him. Ryze did not make a move and just kept on crying.
He kneeled and started to pat Ryze's shoulder as if to comfort him. I was thinking that the smile came from my imagination, but as soon as I thought that, a dagger appeared in his hands and with a swift motion, it stabbed Ryze where his heart was.
Puchi!
-1500
"Agh!!!" Due to Ryze letting his guard down, he could not even react for Viktor's second swing.
Puchi!
-450
Ryze finally fell over and a pool of blood started to form.
"Why...?" Ryze asked weakly.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" At his question, Viktor started to laugh like a maniac. "Remember who I am Mr. Ryze! I am a killer. A psycho! What makes you think my heart will change. When I first saw you, you were my role model, but you became weak! WEAK! ALL BECAUSE OF THAT FILTHY GIRL! Good riddance! Well I hope you guys see each other in Hell! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

While Viktor was laughing, Ryze took his last breath.
-50
His eyes became still and I saw no signs of life.
I immediately left the house and started to throw up.
Urgh!
The eyes, the blood, the circumstances, the killer's motive. Everything just hit me like a rock and I was shaking. Sure, I killed bears and demons, but the feeling of it was much different to seeing the death of a fellow human. Furthermore, a human that seemed to die while grieving of his daughter's death. I immediately thought in that moment to avenge Ryze even if he was a criminal that kidnapped and murdered many. He was still human. Although, he was scum, he deserves to have some sort of peace.
As I went back in and looked back into the crack, I saw that Varin was somehow sitting on a chair tied up.
"Mmph, mmph," While struggling, Varin tried his best to signal Viktor to have some sort of mercy, but seeing this Viktor started to laugh more.
"Fear me, young noble for your fear is the thing that feeds me. It's going to be fun torturing you, killing you and dicing you into pieces. Ohhhhhh, I can already feel your blood dripping down my face! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
As Viktor was about to slice down on Varin's right arm, I immediately burst into the room.
Viktor looked at me shocked and I used this to my advantage. I immediately used Draw II to create a wind blade.
Although he was shocked, Viktor had good reflexes. He dodged the wind blade and went behind Varin holding a knife to his neck.
"So who are you?" Viktor asked with an evil grin that looked like he did not care.
"Someone that will burn you into ashes!" I roared while getting into my fighting stance.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

But for now, follow her as she meets this Grand Magician at a young age and grow up together, forming an unbreakable bond along the way. Author's Note: This will be a long project, just fyi. It'll take several chapter just for our little main character to meet her future partner and there will be only a few big time skips to age the characters. I intend to have a lot of this story telling the story of how our duo grow up at a steady pace, so don't expect to see our main characters out saving the world any time soon. XD
