Level up!

It kept on coming. I thought I would actually go insane with the same monotonous tone repeating the same words over and over again. After around a minute it finally stopped and when I looked at my stats, I was shocked.

"I leveled up 22 times! What the heck?! Just 20 of these can spike my level up to level 50?!"
"Jeffrey, what are you talking about?" Lyka asked while looking at me as if I was crazy.
"Nothing, just that thinking that those wolves were quite strong even if they were starving to death haha..."
"Ok..." Lyka said, but her tone showed that she did not believe me at all.
"Haha..."
Quest Given!
Like before, the system notification rang in my head and a hologram popped up in front of my face.
Job Rank up Quest: Defeat the Devil
You are now much stronger than before. The noob that you have once been is completely gone is now replaced by a genuine swordsman. However, being a swordsman is simply not enough. You must take on quests that will make you rise to the top. In the Plague Prairie, there is Belphegor, the Demon of Gluttony. He is currently weakened as the Demon King is barely rising and he is now eating everything he could find to strengthen himself before the new Demon King is born. Quickly stop him to have one less powerful demon humanity has to face in the future.
Quest Completion Requirement: Defeat Belphegor 0/1
(An arrow that only you can see will guide you towards your target so do not fret adventurer.)

'Navi, why do I feel like these job rank up quests that the system give me seem to be made up on the spot,' I asked Navi using telepathy.
'Jeffrey, you must be joking. These quests were made way before just now and we have made various predictions on your growth and such. There's no way we'll send you here only to give you quests we made up on the spot,' Navi said with the same tone he used every time which made me unable to tell whether he was lying or not. I simply let it pass and started thinking about how to guide us to Belphegor without looking too suspicious to Lyka. After a while of not finding any wolf packs once again, I finally had a good idea.
"Lyka, since we need to find 30 more Plague Wolves, why don't I lead the way. Right now, I feel like my luck today is off the charts and I feel like within 10 minutes, we could find a pack 30 wolves,"
"*Sigh* Fine, since we're not finding any wolves anyways might as well. I memorized the entire prairie so don't worry about getting lost or anything,"
I smiled and started to go towards Belphegor. As I getting nearer, I started feeling an ominous presence. Lyka started to catch on as well.
"Jeffrey, why don't we stop and go towards a different direction. I feel like this way is a bit dangerous,"
"Nonsense, I feel this way today and if we go here, we could find many wolves so we can finish this mission!"
After a couple of minutes, we finally saw Belphegor. Lyka and I immediately hid while it was eating what seemed to be a wolf. It was huge in both height and width. It looked like a fusion of Gluttony from Full Metal Alchemist and an imp. On its stomach was a circle that had a dead pig on it. When I looked into its stats, it was kind of worrying.
Belphegor: Level 50 (Levels up once for everything it eats at its level)
HP: 3000/3000
Attack: 500
Defense: 100
Speed: 450
Skills: Swallow, Transformation, Summon Imps
Experience given when killed: 1000*30=30000 EXP
Demon of Gluttony, able to eat anything, and has endless hunger. Unlike many demons, this one can transform into a stronger form when at low health making it twice as hard to defeat.
"Jeffrey, your luck is so bad! That's Belphegor from the Army of the Seven Deadly Sins. Its ranking is 4th out the 7 demons, and while it is only in the middle, it is still extremely strong. We have to notify the guild for them take care of it!"Lyka said with panic evident on her face.

"Relax Lyka. In my life, I have seen and fought against many devils. This Belphegor is only at its child phase and his strength is at its weakest. Right now, even with our strength, we can still kill it. However, if we notify the guild and such, that is going to take hours. Belphegor is mostly likely going to leave and it is also going to be much stronger as he is a general of the demon army like you said earlier,"
Lyka was struggling. After a while, it seems that she finally made her decision.
"Fine, we'll fight it. However, if there is any sign of him being able to overpower us, we're going to escape immediately," She said with an unrelenting tone.
"Alright. So here's the plan. I have skill to conceal myself so I will land the first attack. While I am fighting, you move as far away as you can to land your spells without being in its range so that even if things get dangerous, you'll be able to escape as far as possible,"
Lyka nodded and I noticed she blushed a little. I did not think much of it and thought it was just nervousness. Before I went out, I immediately maxed out Sansurrashu, making me a bit more confident. I rushed out after using Conceal Presence. Belphegor was still eating and did not notice my presence. When I got close enough, I immediately used Draw II and the wind blade flew towards Belphegor landing on its back.

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Belphegor finally noticed me and started to roar. I noticed from behind that Lyka started to move away as fast as she can. Seeing that I felt relieved and started to fully assault him.
After using Fiery Sword, I immediately started to hack at Belphegor. However, with its 450 speed which is a bit better than me, it was narrowly able to dodge each and every attack. After a while of me trying to hit him and Lyka trying to shoot fire balls at it, Belphegor eventually ran out of patience and started to grab at me. I immediately countered leaving a small scratch on it then immediately jumping backwards using Wind Leap to jump even farther back.

Raaaaaaaaaa!
Belphegor seemed to be even more pissed off and started to charge towards me, but seeing that its actions were quite predictable, I immediately sent out my tornado which was starting to shred it into pieces
Puchi!
Puchi!
Puchi!

Raaaaaaaaaaaaa!
The bloody Belphegor's eyes became red and when it stood back up, it started to transform. His stomach was splitting apart to reveal a huge mouth with hundreds of sharp teeth ready to strike. Its fingernails also became huge claws while its mouth became like a Xenomorph mouth (Aliens reference).
Warning: The enemy has transformed and went berserk. Attack raised by 500 and speed is also raised by 100.
"Oh shit!" I started cursing to no end. Its speed was fearsome already, but with this, it would be even harder to kill it.
Belphegor in berserk mode not only seem to have more power, but it also seemed to have gained more intelligence as well. It started to move erratically with extreme speed confusing me to no end. I immediately used Fiery Sword once again and attempted to slash at it. However, it was useless and I missed every single one of my hits. However, this time, Belphegor quickly landed a slash on my left using its gigantic claw.
Puchi!
-1000
"What the fuck?!" I felt lightheaded as I saw my wound which was extremely deep. "If that attack had just a little bit more power, my arm would have been cut off!"
I was quite afraid of this demon and while I was thinking of ways to defeat it, Belphegor dashed towards me with its mouth ready to eat me. I was not ready to dodge it so I closed my eyes, but all of a sudden, I heard Lyka's voice.
"Jeffrey move to the sides!"
I immediately dashed to my left, and when I looked back, a beam of fire was sent out by Lyka which in turn was eaten by Belphegor. Belphegor started to swell up.
Pa! Pa! Pa! Paaaammmmmm!
-450
After a couple of seconds, Belphegor spit out fire from its mouth before falling down breathing its last breath.
"Haha... We did it!" I screamed in joy until suddenly I blacked out.

A Castle in a Teacup
One might say that to anger forces beyond the ken of fragile breakable mortals is a bad idea, others might say that meddling in dark forces with little chance of gain is also a bad idea, they would both be right by on all counts but they forget to mention also how incredibly stupid combining both of those things are. Stupid people don’t last so long on the mystic side of things, normal folks who wander over to the other side have a tendency to do one of two things, either A. figure out that the best thing to do is keep their head down and not draw attention from any entity that refers to humanity as “you mortals” , or B. something horrifying happens to them. As you may have guessed I fell into the second category, mostly because I thought there was a third option. See I though there must be an option C, an option where I got to end up not as some shitty back ally wizard cowering at the chance of discovery, praying that one of my wards or spells wouldn’t be noticed by something that goes bump in the night. No I would be the one who rose above all that. I would never have to be afraid. Well I made a good attempt at it that’s for damn sure, but unfortunately for me it turns out there is not an option C. At least not for me…
