《My Story in the Otherworld》Chapter 8

In the end, we were puzzled on what to do. While being classified as a SSS tier adventurer can have its benefits, it can also bring a variety of troubles to me and to be honest, I rather not have that.
"Hmm, if that is the case, then why don't we say that the crystal ball made a mistake nya," Anna declared after a while of thinking.
"Wha... I thought these things usually don't make mistakes at all,"
"No, no on the contrary, over the hundreds of years that crystal ball have been used in the guild, there have been many mistakes nya. Some have been small such as a F tier being mistaken as a D tier or some were extremely big such as a C tier being mistaken as a SS tier nya. You will just be one of many mistakes that the crystal ball made nya,"
"Ahh, ok then please label this incident as a mistake,"
"Of course, we will say that your actual rank is S tier and you will still be able to take the gold rank test automatically. Would you like to take it today?"
"Yes I would like that please,"
"Alright, we will clarify to the guild members outside that you are a S rank so that "false rumors" don't spread,"
"Thank you for the trouble,"
"No problem, the guild has done a lot of this in the past,"
When we went out, Anna started announcing the news to everyone.
"Everyone I'm sorry to startle you guys earlier. It was simply a mistake and his tier is actually S tier nya!"
"Oh, a S tier. Ha... I thought that we were going to have another legendary hero for that demon king. That prophecy said that the demon king was going to revive either this year or next year and destroy us all didn't it!" A bystander said.
"Ha... yeah, but at the very least they found out that it was a mistake early on. I remember that one time that the crystal ball made a mistake where a E tier Adventurer was mistaken as a A Rank Adventurer and somehow passed the gold rank test since the tests don't require you to actually defeat the exam proctor. Then he took a gold level mission and in the end died to a pack of goblins along the way somehow," Another bystander said

While I was feeling pity for the adventurer that the two loud bystanders were talking about, I suddenly remembered the first guy's statement.
"Ummm... Lyka, I have a very quick, but important question to ask you?"
"Yes?" Lyka looked at me curiously.
"Is there truly a demon king in this world?"
"Yes, there is. In fact, every 150 years or so, there is a demon king born from the vast amounts of demon down at the far north. During those times all adventurers go down and kill every demon they see and they even cooperate with other kingdoms regardless of whether they hate each other or not since demons are the number one enemy. Then there are all the Adamantite and Orichalcum adventurers who band up to slay the demon king and even then most of them die and usually 90% of Adamantite adventurers survive, but around 90% of the Orichalcum adventurers perish as a result of the terrible battle. We have tried for hundreds of years to defeat all the demons while the demon king was gone, but there are too many demons so we could never annihilate the demons and even having one demon means disaster since a demon king can be born from even the weakest demon imp. It's truly a troublesome matter since if it goes wrong, kingdoms can be destroyed, but in the best case scenario, we keep everything in the north and only the foot soldiers and at best generals can invade the towns and cities,"
"So what you are saying is that, no matter what, I'm most likely going to fight the demon king since I'm a SSS tier?" I asked quietly.
"Yes," She replied quietly. "The new demon king is going to revive within 10 years.. It could be in a couple of month or it could even be today. It could even be 10 years later! We really don't know so we need to get stronger in order to fight against the demon king,"
"*Sigh* just a question, are a member of the guild,"

"Yes I am, it's a side job that my father want me to have as he wants me to have outside battle experience against monsters, bandits, and the like so that I could react to any situation,"
"What rank and tier are you?"
"Currently, I am in the Gold Rank and when I was evaluated, I was evaluated as an A tier so I immediately took the test and passed the gold rank test,"
"Hmm... I see. Well-,"
"Jeffrey, your test proctor has arrived and is waiting for you in the sparring room," Anna suddenly called out.
"Alright, I'll be there right now. Sorry, can you please wait for me for a little bit right here?"
"Sure," Lyka said while smiling.
'Ahh, she's a true yandere it seems, angelic when pleased and demonic when angered,' I thought while going to the sparring room.
The sparring room looked like a smaller version of the coliseum that the Wintercolt Family had, but they still had the stage and everything so I assumed that meant that the same magic was etched onto this stage as well.
On the stage was a beastman that looked like he was in his 40s. He had lion ears and tail. He was also tall and buff as well which made me classify him as a tank in battles. He was holding a wooden sword that looked like it was going to break with a single strike. Next to him was a beautiful Elf that seems like she was waiting for me.
"Hello, Mr. Jeffrey, your proctor here is Mr. Cado, a gold rank adventurer. He will set the requirements before the battle starts and if you do not meet his requirements you will be set as bronze ranked adventurer. The stage has the Coliseum Protection Magic Formation where when one receives a lethal attack, they will be sent off the stage and when they leave the stage, all injuries become non existent. Well then good luck sir," The Elf then quickly left the stage.
I went onto the stage and the system notification showed up as well.
Adventurer is now protected by the Coliseum Protection Magic Formation. When hit by a lethal attack, you are transported out of the magic formation. All injuries become nonexistent as well after you leave the stage.
I also quickly looked at my proctor's status.

"Oi, oi, oi what are with these stats? He could kill me and I probably can't even damage him!"
"Well, hello there young adventurer," Cado suddenly said. "Well, I am Cado Smith. Just call me Cado. I will be your exam proctor for today and my requirement for you to pass is to be able to land a solid shot on me with your sword. However, the catch is that I will be using everything I got to kill you so treat this as a life or death match," Cado said with a smile. " Well then I will give you a few seconds to prepare everything,"
I immediately got into ready stance.
"Alright then. Let's begin,"

Second Book of the Soul - Celesi Veil Trilogy When the living essence of three girls are put at risk, giving room for a second essence within themselves, even their hyper developed fantasy world might not be enough to contain their new found ambitions. Another story of another world, these three girls must adapt to their new essence, all while each is left to question if they are truly still even alive. While this story is a sequel of the previous story in the trillogy, it is also fully capable of standing alone in its own light, taking place in a distant corner of a Celese returning readers will be otherwise incapable of recognizing. However, the events of the story are a spoiler for the previous book, in case that matters to anyone. This story takes place over two centuries after the events of Vitae Memorandum, when Celese had developed into an advanced world, improved to a point that it is much like modern-day Earth while still using the gift instead of technology. The Aethyx languages are still present in this book, and even English still exists in the world after the events of the previous book, but are much less of a focus after the same closing events of the previous book. What is instead important is how the ending events of the previous book had resulted in the start of the Instrumentation Era, and exactly how the gift translates in a modern-day sense. While this book is still effectively a fantasy world of its own kind of magic, it isn’t the classical medieval scene that would be typical for such a story. The laws of science still do not exist in Celese, but that didn’t stop it from developing into something that looks similar enough. Earth itself still remains present on the other side of the veil, and its previous exposure continues to shape and advance Celese into the world it has become. This story contains scenes exibiting mania and similar dark themes, as it goes to great length to explore concepts of life and death. While the degree of such themes should not be considered to be as serious compared to matters such as actual horror, the psychological depth is still siginifcant enough to be potentially concerning for people sensitive to matters of this nature, such as any individuals with concerns questioning matters of suicide, mental harm, or a variety of emotional injuries. While none of these subjects actually occur in the story, readers who are currently troubled by such matters may find themselves considering old wounds if they are especially capable of empathy while reading, which could lead to furthered emotional or mental stress. Readers with a high capacity for empathy may find themselves troubled by concerns regarding any potential lack of mental/emotional control as well as considerations regarding the meaning of death. Readers who appreciate subtle dark themes in a story may instead find this to be an interesting twist of the same idea.
