《All Things Must End》Chapter 13: The Minds World

When Milo blacked out everything did not go dark as he thought it would, instead there was light like a spear perching his inner mind.
This light searched around in Milos head but was stopped by a formless mass. This mass didn't have any image but was clearly visible. It was like a grey fog settling over water, except it was also the water beneath. It changed continuously not being liquid, gas, or a solid.
The light kept on trying to break apart the formless mass but couldn't succeed. With each attempt it made it was slowly dwindling and being eaten up by the formless mass.
Milo didn't feel any pain during this but instead felt a cool warmth spread throughout his mind. He could tell that this pulsating mass was a part of him just as much as he was a part of it. This mass determined his past, his future, and also the present.
When the light was being complete destroyed he heard the same voice that spoke earlier.
"Such a thing should not exist; such a being should not survive."
Milo was confused with what the light said, was he talking about him? Why did it call him a being and not a human? Milo then called out to the fading light.
"Why do you say such things? I have done nothing and am a simple child."
The voice responded back to Milo as the light was just about to disappear.
"No, you are the harbinger of all and the daemon of destruction… Wait how can I fell such contradicting things? Are you the...."
Before it could finish speaking it had been swallowed up by the formless mass and disappeared forever. Milo would not know what it had to say until many years from now. By that point though, it would be too late to change what had already happened.

The past was set, and the future was predetermined by someone. Only the few can break away and live a new life not lived by any other.
When the light had finally disappeared there was silence, absolute silence. Milo felt like the silence was the most serene thing there was. It was a peaceful and refreshing feeing that let Milo think clearly. After everything that had happened Milo felt like he was able to think more clearly than before, it felt like his mind was able to think and process faster.
Milo noticed that everything started to blur. He had a hard time standing and soon fell down. Falling down is an odd thing to say, mainly because he was already unconscious. When Milo cam too, it was still dark outside and Renjamin hadn’t awoken yet.
Milo went over to Renjamin and tried to wake him up.
“Renjamin, psttt, hey wake up!”
Renjamin muttered, “Noooooo… I’m sleeping just leave me alone MOMMM!”
Milo was so confused with this. Mom? He wasn’t his mom! What was wrong with Renjamin?
Milo yelled at the top of his lungs into Renjamin’s ear, “WAKE UP RENJAMIN, IF YOU DON’T YOU WILL DIE!!! BAD THINGS ARE COMING, AND THEY WANT TO EAT YOU!!!!
Milo had never seen someone jump up so fast. Renjamin looked around in terror and kept on muttering.
“Where are they? Where are they? WHERE ARE THEY?!”
After he finished saying this, there was complete silence. Milo could only imagine how awkward and stupid Renjamin felt right now. He definitely did not want to have to be the one who acted in that way.
The both of them didn’t have time to be horsing around. They both needed to get to their rooms and sleep in preparation for tomorrow.
In the morning, they would have to walk back to the campus, for classes that would be starting. They also needed to get there early in case they wanted to get breakfast. Milo and Renjamin were still young they definitely could not cook breakfast for themselves.

The school provided breakfast, lunch, and diner to all the students. The food might not be the same as what they are used to, but it would be just as good. The school tried to have a diverse and large variety of food for the students. None of this would matter though if the both of them didn’t wake up early enough.
After the both of them were completely awake they headed up the stairs. The building they would be staying in was huge. They were the only people who would be staying tin the building. Because of this they could stay in whatever room they wanted.
Milo and Renjamin decided to stay in the same room because it would be easier to talk to each other. It also made it easier to get to each other in case of emergency. They decided to stay on the fourth floor.
What confused them both was that on the outside there was no fourth floor. They could only see what looked like a third floor from the outside. This floor was also the largest out of all the floors. There was one main hallway going down the center with doors branching off to each side.
They both decided to go with the first door to the right. Both of them didn’t know what was in the room, but right when they opened up the door, it looked like a normal room with two beds and dressers. What they didn’t see was what they needed to see most though.
When the door was opened everything moved by a very small amount. It was so small that neither of them realized it, when it happened. There was also a little bit of smoke that seemed to dissipate after the door opened up.
This was no ordinary smoke, it wasn’t even smoke at all. No one was really sure what it was actually. Some would call it a ghost, a spirit, or an aberration, all of these guesses would be wrong. It wasn’t any of these because it wasn’t really anything.
If it was to be defined, it would be a sentient nothingness. It was neither real nor was it anything fake. The two wouldn’t have to worry about it until they fell asleep.
Milo was the first to walk in the room and Renjamin soon followed in after him. They looked at the beds and saw they were made immaculately and didn’t even have dust on them. This was odd and creepy to the both of them, but they were too tired to dwell on it now. The duo laid down and slowly drifted into sleep…

Travelers [DROPPED]
DROPPED. The story focuses less on dungeon building than on the why of dungeons and how they fit into the universal order. While I am working from a grand plot, the writing is going slice of life style because I need to do that to work out how things progress into that grand plot. The original story seed idea / synopsis is below. The Grand Tapestry protects Rhofhir from Primal Chaos by imposing Order via patterns. However, the patterns grow stiff, stagnant, and so the Tapestry is nearing a time of Unraveling. Evidence of past civilizations wiped out during previous Unravelings foreshadow the apocalyptic catastrophe looming over the world. The mages of the Arcane Asylum reach out across dimensions, searching for some way to prevent, or at least stall, the coming Unraveling. Among the many voices they find is a gifted graduate student researching machine-assisted telepathy -- and his gaming group. Lena never expected that the chance to play DnD with telepathy would result in her becoming an actual Dungeon Master, nor that her friends could become the bosses of her dungeon. This is, in many ways, her dream come true, but there's a catch: What happened to Brad, the creator of that telepathy machine?
