《All Things Must End》Chapter 4: Leaping Over The Dragons Gate

The student beneath the hand did not notice anything for a second, but then like a raging tide, bright red particles poured out of his body.
All of the surrounding students were petrified with this sudden occurrence. They didn't know what was happening, or why such an occurrence would happen.
Too the surprise of all the students, the individual beneath the hand had his clothes start to combust.
When this happened, a teacher stepped out and snapped his finger.
SNAP*
Just like that the particles were gone, and the child was fine, at least physically that is. The individual was so surprised he was put into a stupor by it all. He probably would stay like this for at least the next couple days.
The person behind the podium, which the students wisely guessed was the head of the school. The headmaster started to speak once again saying.
"As you can see with what just happened this is no ordinary school. Even though this is called a recommencement ceremony, it’s more of a reawakening than anything else."
The students started to talk amongst each other after hearing this. A reawakening? What is reawakening? They didn't have to wait long to get an answer.
The headmaster continued to talk saying.
"You were all born with special gifts, superpowers in a sense. Each individual has a unique gift that only they possess. These gifts are known as a 'Singula'. Others may possess a similar Singula, but each individuals Singula is unique. These powers pass down from generation to generation. Your parents also share similar powers, but yours are inherited from both of them or mainly one. Rarely a child might not gain any one parents power. They sometimes will get both. This will only happen when both parent’s gifts are of similar strength. Even more rare is when you will have gotten neither of their gifts. In such cases the parent’s unique attributes will compliment or not, and they will merge to create a new individual gift. This will not always react positively. Sometimes the unique attribute that is created is not better than the two that made it."

The students were completely confused with this. After all, if this was all true why had they never seen their parents use such supernatural capabilities? The headmaster could see their suspicion and continued to say.
"I know this seems hard to believe, but what would I gain from lying to you? All that I have said is true. The reason why you have never seen such miraculous things is because of rules we have set in place. These rules prevent the use of our Singula to any person who does not possess a Singula themselves."
The students were somewhat convinced by this, but not all of them were. If what he said was true, then they also possessed this Singula that he spoke of. If they did possess such a power, then shouldn't they have known about them before?
"When I child is born from parents that possess a Singula that power is suppressed within them. The reason we do this is because children can't always hold back from telling the world about their 'amazing abilities'. Another reason is for the safety of the child. As you saw earlier when this student’s powers were reawakened his clothes started to burn. If a teacher did not step out to suppress the fire that broke out, the student might have died."
The headmaster looked over to the student when he said this. The thirteen-year-old was so surprised that he was instantly brought back to reality by the gravity of the situation.
He couldn't help but feel grateful to the teacher that saved his life. After all he would have died without him.
What the students did not know, was that what the headmaster had said was not true. A Singula could not hurt the one who possesses it. The reason for this was because a Singula is the person who owns it, and the person who owns a Singula is the Singula.

Still though this was a great way for the headmaster to scare the students into not being careless with their newfound gifts.
The headmaster then told the child, who had his Singula awakened to hold out his hands. The child who was named Aaron, was scared to do what he was told, but he was even more scared to not comply to the headmasters demands. So, he put out his hands which were now shaking in fright with everything he had when through and heard.
The headmaster than told him to think of fire. He then said to imagine it pouring out of his hands.
When the child imagined such an odd scenario in his mind, the surrounding students were flabbergasted.
When he thought of that happening fire did start to pour out of his hands. It was like there was a bonfire raging above his palms. What perplexed the child the most was that they did not burn like a normal fire would. They actually felt comfortable, it was like the warm that a cote provides a chilly winter day.
The flames continued to burn for a few more seconds until they shrunk and disappeared. When that happened Aaron started two sway and then fell unconscious on the floor. One of the teachers picked him up and brought him away.
The headmaster then continued to say, "As you have just seen that is a Singula. In the end the child could not sustain the flame because he ran out of energy. The energy used to sustain a Singula is called Vis, this energy is only found in those that have a Singula. Each individual has a different amount of this energy, and each individuals Singula will use a different amount of Vis when in use.
The students had a hard time remembering all of this new and fabulous knowledge. If they could reawaken then maybe they could become the superheroes they only dreamed and read about.
Sadly, very few would actually be able to accomplish what they were dreaming about. Even fewer would have strength and power like they wished.
After all a Singula was determined from birth. Because of this, if one’s parents did not have a strong Singula, then it was practically impossible for their child to also have strong Singula.
This was gift that what only mattered was whose child you were. Those from strong families had strong children. Those from weak families could only be cannon fodder and ants to those who carried strength.
This year though there would be one individual who would completely turn this belief around, and this individual would not be Milo.
The reason for that, was that Milo was from the strongest family here. Milo would have a strong rival in his search for strength.
Well, thats at least what the rival will think, but he will be very wrong. Milo will not need to put anyone in his eyes with his Singula's
That will only be possible for Milo if he actually can survive to gain strength though. Who would allow such a strong nemesis to rise up against them. The logical thing to do would be to get rid of future problems when there young and small.
After all, if one can't live past young then they have no future ahead of them...
