《All Things Must End》Chapter 3: The Recommencement Ceremony

When Milo Stepped in to the building he could see, a sea of people. Many of these individuals looked to be the same age as him. A few were young adults, and even fewer were older people. These older people were wearing similar looking clothes to Edward. Their clothes were not exactly alike though. Their clothes appeared more refined, almost like a formal teachers clothing.
Milo was not the only one to be inspecting people. It seemed like the entire crowd of people turned to look at Milo. The emotions showed on their faces was extremely varied. Many showed signs of disregard, this didn't surprise Milo as he too wouldn't care in this situation, but that is only if he is not the one being stared at. Most of the teachers showed signs of surprise and joy when they looked over at him, Milo couldn't come to a concrete idea for this. What surprised Milo the most, was some teachers and students showed hostility, this was astounding as he had just arrived. How could he get these individuals hostility?
One of the students appeared so hostile it was like he wished to take Milos life. Milo could almost sense a killing intent from him. The student looked as if he was used to the sight of death and blood. It seemed hard for Milo to imagine a child of similar age, who would have to go through such suffering, to have such a strong killing intent.
The boy’s name was Azrael. Azrael lived terrifying life. He was raised to kill.... His existence was to kill.... His mission from both was to kill.... Ever since at a young age Azrael was trained, it was his father who taught him to get rid of the problems that might arise in his future. When Azrael caught sight of Milo he was intrigued, but when he noticed the teacher’s admiration for him he knew Milo could not stay.

Azrael came from a harsh family, A family without the love of a mother. Azrael's mother died in child birth with Azrael. Because of this Azrael was both physically and verbally abused from a young age. Azraels father, had put all of the blame of his mother’s death on his shoulders. There was only way for Azrael to relive the hate he suffers from at home.
Azrael took his hate out upon the world by making others leave it. He found joy in what his name meant, even though his mother named him Azrael, so he would do Gods bidding. The first time Azrael killed someone was when he was six-years-old.
Azrael did not view humans as humans. They were 'fleshy robots' in his eyes, and obstacles to overcome in his path of life. Azrael was not caught for his taking of lives and because of that he continued to do it. Sometimes he would be irritated, and the police would be lucky to find a piece of what had happened. Other times he would try to be as silent and proficient as possible.
Because of all the deaths in Azraels home town people were petrified. The police could find no killer to any of the cases. There were even times were people would go missing never to be found. The only one who truly knew what happened was Azrael.
When Azrael was picked up to come to the school, the one who brought him was deeply saddened for him. After all Azrael told him that his father had committed suicide.
Earlier that year Azrael was sick of living with his father. One night when his father had 'hit the bottle to hard' Azraels plan was set in motion... Earlier that morning Azrael ran to the hospital with a face of panic and anguish. When the medics arrived to his house they estimated that his father had died that night. The police found that he had died from taking to many anti-depressants. They found bottles strewn around him, it appeared like he swallowed so many at a time he almost chocked on them. Still only Azrael knew what truly happened that night...

(back to Milo)
Milo saw only one seat open in the entire building. Obviously, this seat was placed in the front, very close to the podium. After Milo sat down everyone returned their sight to the podium.
It was then that an individual got up and walked behind the podium. He wore a long robe, had a white beard, and looked quite old. He was virtually the definition of a wizard, all he needed was a staff and a menacing composure and it would be perfect. The wizard looking man then spoke.
"Hello, all students, this is the school 'Lernejo', this school is grounded in Knowledge and tradition. All who go against the rules of this school will face immediate expulsion. This our oldest and most enforced rule here. I advise you all to be disciplined while you attend this learning institute. If you do not maintain top grades you will immodestly fail and also face expulsion. Finally, disputes will not be allowed by any member of the student body. If such a situation arises it must be put to rest with no physical activity. If both sides do agree, that the issue can't be put aside, then you must gain permission from the school for a physical fight." Said the wizardly old man.
He then paused for a moment of recollection, he then stated.
"Now I must lead you all in your recommencement ceremony, if you look behind you, you will see 7 tall statues. These statues each have an out stretched arm. You must all, in single file, while following the teacher’s instructions walk beneath the outstretched hand."
The students were all very confused by this. Why should they do such an odd thing? When they thought about it this entire school was extremely odd. Ultimately though what were they to do but listen and obey, and so they all did what they were told.
As Milo stood up and joined the line, he realized he was the last in the line. He would have to wait for everyone else to go before him. This seemed like a waste, but he would realize, a while after now what a great benefit this actually was.
After the first student walked below the hand, everyone saw a site that they would never forget for the rest of their lives...

Soldier First
Soldier First will be shifting to a monthly update schedule while I work out some kinks in the plot. So he reluctantly agrees to let the enigmatic company use him as a test subject while he tracks down the mind behind the technology. Butcher doesn't really understand this talk of "stats", "skills" and "classes", though, and the deeper her digs, the stranger things become. Because even as Butcher changes, he realizes that the world around him is also changing in ways that only he can see, but which could have terrifying consequences for the whole planet. Gumi and her best friend Miku front a rock band called The VocaLords. Using her cherrywood Les Paul guitar as a weapon against evil, Gumi also pursues a more pressing agenda -- sending deserving souls to Hell where they belong. Everything starts going wrong when VioLinja -- a violinist with a God Complex -- is allowed to join the band. A very big God Complex. Thanks to VioLinja, Gumi must set Hell loose upon the world she sought to save. Alone and half alive, without her bandmates or her best friend, Gumi struggles to contain the havoc VioLinja wreaks. Things start going right when a mysterious, sea-faring man who goes by the acronym of T.O.P. comes to Gumi's rescue. Aboard his research ship in the Sea of Okhotsk, T.O.P. helps Gumi prepare for her final battle against VioLinja's reign of terror. * * * * * * * * * * * * The VocaLords is written as if it were a series of thirty minutes animes. Each Episode will consist of a sixty second teaser, followed by three to five chapters of about ten minutes reading time apiece. Each Episode will also contain one or two songs I have written personally, with the lyrics incorporated into the storyline. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I have had with writing it.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
