《Law of Creation》Ceremony of Acknowledgement

[The ceremony itself was very simple. In the middle of the room, there is a big round glass similar to the thing that emits the various kind of light. The only thing I needed to do is to touch that round glass. This ball was very big, at least it had almost the same height with her body.]
[After touching it, a light would emerge from inside round glass. The result was depended on the colour of the light. The stronger its light, that means that person's connection with spirit was strong, and likewise. And if someone had multiple elemental affinities, the ball would light a different kind of colour.]
[In this room, there were only two people undergoing Ceremony of Acknowledgement. Because I am younger, that bratty brat would take the test first.]
"Humph. . . Look at me. I am the person blessed by the spirit. I will stand above the mass." Shi Tianfeng still tried to take Mingyue's attention. Taking a few steps closer to round glass, he raised his hand and slowly touched it. At first, there was only a speck of light. But after waiting for a few breaths, the light inside round glass was growing bigger.
Unfortunately, Mingyue was focusing her attention on this rounded glass. She was observing the minute change of the round glass after came in contact with Shi Tianfeng.
A bright green coloured light showed up inside the round glass. Shi Tianfeng still had his smug face. Shi family was usually well known for their affinity with wind. But what surprised him is the intensity of light. Looking at white elderly expectantly, he wished that his connection with spirit is strong. In that way, Shi Tianfeng could become the apple in the Shi family's eyes.
[Has an affinity with wind element. His connection is also very strong.] The elderly wrote the result on a piece of paper. In the end, the elderly stamped that paper, scroll it, and it was handed to Shi Tianfeng.

"Not bad little boy, as expected of Shi family." Praised the white elderly.
"Look at that? This is what people call of the gifted person. Look at how gifted I am. Hahaha…" Shi Tianfeng was really proud of his result.
[Having a strong connection with spirit meant that I would have a bright future. Of course, such person must have a suitable couple.] Shi Tianfeng took a glance at Mingyue, but she did not even notice him at all. Her attention was all focused on round glass.
"Now is your turn, little girl." Smiled white elderly.
Mingyue took a few steps forward and lifts her hand slowly. When she touched the round glass, the light inside was beating like her own heartbeat. The light was not very bright, but she felt calm when she saw the light. Red. A faint light with red colour.
[Oh? It is very interesting. Let's try to do something else like this. . .] Mingyue made the conclusion in her mind.
"Ahahaha, do not feel bad little girl, after all, you are still little, hahaha…" Shi Tianfeng unable to hold his laughter after seeing Mingyue's blank face.
[This little doll was too surprised by the low result, she even doesn't have any reaction and expression at all. Hahaha, I know that I am the best!]
The white elderly shook his head and felt that her result is a pity.
[Weak colour means a weaker connection with the spirit, and also means that her future will be filled with hard work, especially for those from big families. Sigh. It is really pity for a bright child. . .]
But when white elderly wanted to write the result on the paper, the light suddenly changed in colour.
Red became blue. Blue becomes green. Another light could be seen, white. Green became yellow. Then the light inside the round glass becomes colourful.
[Rainbow coloured!] When the elderly see this, he was very surprised.

Even though a person with multiple Elemental affinities was not rare, usually they were only two or even three coloured. This is the first time he saw such a spectacle.
In the Ceremony of Acknowledgement, there are two criteria that would be observed. The Elemental affinities and the connection with spirit.
The more intense the colour that was shone from the round glass, that means the connection between the child and the spirit was strong. That means in the future, the child would be able to make a contact and contract the greater spirit a little easier than usual. But counting on the greater spirit's traits, even made a contact with a greater spirit was never an easy thing.
And the colour that was shone from the round glass means the Elemental affinities that the child has. Even if the child only has a fire affinities, the said child could still use the other Elemental. Of course, there is some limitation.
But what he currently saw was a rainbow affinities, or at least what he remembered from the ancient scroll. It was said that a child with rainbow affinities was a blessed child under the spirit, and even the greater spirit would follow the child willingly. The only hint the white elderly have was only 'the ever-changing colour', like what he just saw.
Shi Tianfeng was also surprised, but for a different reason. With a big opened mouth, he was seeing Mingyue that was standing in front of the colourful light. He felt like something stuffed the inside of his chest, but he did not know what it is.
[A fairy] Shi Tianfeng muttered silently.
[Well, it has become a good surprise. Who know the light will change its colour every time I draw the Law of the World's essence.] Mingyue concluded her experiment and observation.
[In this world, Law of the World is called spirit. People draw a small amount of its essence to support them, not to temper their body. When people absorb those essences, they are capable to give form to those essences, become an element like fire or water.]
[Earlier I tried to change element from Law of the World essence, the light inside that round glass changed in colour. Well it is interesting, is that mean I can create fire or water without cultivating?]
While Mingyue was in deep thinking, the white elderly person has written her report. After giving it to her, the elderly said, "Well, if you wish to see this scene again, you are free to come. As long as I am here, I can give you a pass. Ho ho ho. . .
Here is your report. Congratulations on completing your Ceremony of Acknowledgement. You may now go to people that are waiting for you. May the spirit will bless you." White elderly handed her the rolled report.
Receiving a nod, the white elderly told Mingyue where her brothers and escorts were waiting for her. She immediately left the room without giving a glance to poor Shi Tianfeng.
Unknowingly to Mingyue, the white elderly was tampering her real result on the paper. On the report was written 'Elemental affinity with many elements, and no Elemental she is bad with'.
The white elderly feared if he wrote her report as 'rainbow coloured', the little girl would not live her life happily. He feared that the little girl would be made into a tool for her family or even this kingdom
[This is all I can do, little girl.] Sighed in his mind, the white elderly closed his eyes.
[The only thing I can do now is praying for her happiness.]

By cold steel and elemental sorcery, they brought peace to a warring land on the brink of destruction. As the flames died, the realm needed strong leadership, and who better than the champions who had saved the kingdom? But when the people sought out their saviors... they vanished. Matt, Blake, Jen, and Carl: the four mysterious companions, who together had deposed an insane ruler and saved countless lives, were gone—spirited back in a whirlwind of magic to a sleepy suburb in Mellbridge, Oregon, never to return. The friends found themselves home in the real world, exactly as they'd been the night they were taken, as if no time had passed... except only three came back. Hi there! This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Right as Rage
Only 15 years have passed since the miscreant god, Villi, stole magic from the gods and gave it to mortals. In response the mortals seem to be doing their best to squander this gift. The Kingdom of Abrune regulates it, the church of the Sacred Hierarchies outright condemns it, but one 'wildman' from across the sea begins his journey after being cursed by it. Vakdragnar's curse manifests when he loses his temper. It has driven everyone he’s ever cared about away from him. Out of options and money, he travels to the city of Tirough and quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He is persecuted despite his intentions to do good. How can you stand against evil if everyone you’re trying to protect thinks you’re the villain? And if this curse is truly a part of him now, what if they’re right? **************************************************************************************************** Right as Rage is a story I’ve been excited to write for some time now. I hope everyone is as excited to read it. This story is going to be told over several arcs, with each arc containing 7-12 chapters, and an interlude or two each. I plan on submitting new chapters once a week on Tuesday evenings.
