《I Shall Prevail》Prologue: The Miracle

A big white moon hung high up in the middle of the sky, giving off enough light to illuminate a town in the middle of a dense forest. It was a simple town, although it was big it was not yet close to being a city. With a stone wall protecting it all around and guards keeping watch every ten meters. They were on high alert, almost as if they were expecting something to happen. This, however, was to be expected as monsters lurked in this dense forest. They must always be on high alert especially at night. In town, the houses were quite similar in size and color. They looked quite sturdy, and were well organized. Looking really neat all the way through center of town.

Outside town, in the nearby forest, atop a tall tree, was a beautiful woman. Her graceful blue eyes were staring into town. She had a look of desperation and sadness. In her arms she was carrying a baby, it was sleeping peacefully in her arms wrapped in a white cozy blanket.

“We must hurry… he’ll be safer here, we can’t allow them to find him.” – whispered a young man to her. He had dark hair with slim features, his black eyes seemed to absorb darkness.

“Yes… I know. ” – said the woman.

She glanced towards a house in town before suddenly vanishing and appearing in the front door. It was so quick and silent no one noticed anything. She gave her son a final kiss, a gentle hug and softly placed him on the entrance. She then returned to her spot as quickly as she had arrived.

“Now, we must leave. If fate decides we should meet again then we can only wait for that moment.” – said the man, gently taking the woman in his arms.

“It should have been impossible for us to have a child. Do… do you think he’s a sign?” asked the woman as her blue eyes interlocked with the man’s black eyes.

“Him being a sign or not, our people will eliminate him either way. He must grow strong and find out his origin on his own. We can only wish him the best.” – answered the man as he glimpsed towards his son, who was still sleeping on the entrance of the house.

“I love you.” – he softly said, the woman hugged him tightly as if it was their goodbyes.

“Be safe, your people are harsher than mine.” – she told the man with signs of worry evident on her face.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine nonetheless. We must leave now, one day we will meet again.” – answered the man.

What happened next would shock anyone who saw, behind the woman two white wings started to grow. She had released her wings, like two pieces of clouds attached to her they started to slowly extend. Her eyes had changed from blue to gold and matching perfectly with her golden long hair. She floated a few inches off the ground and looked at the man.

Having seen this the man also released his wings, they were extremely dark and sucked in the darkness around them just like his eyes. With his wings he also grew two horns and a tail. Although he had peculiar features, they combined well with his facial features.

Looking at both of them, no one could imagine they were a couple. They were from two different worlds, and somehow they had met each other and even had a child. If he who had knowledge from the ancient times saw them he would immediately realize that he was a demon and she was angel.

The man stretched his right arm to the ground and a dark, thick substance flowed out of his palm. It took the form of a dire wolf, it was black and with red eyes it would give chills even to the biggest of man. With a height of four feet and a sturdy body nothing sane would dare fight this beast. The man finally finished by placing his palm on the head of the wolf. The wolf as if nodding looked up at his master and escaped into the forest.

The woman knew what had happened, she decided she’d do the same. Only, she extended both hands and started to draw in the air. An orb was slowly growing in front of her, it had reached a meter in height and two feet in width when she stopped. The orb started to crack and break apart until finally a phoenix could be seen, it slowly changed its colors as to not be spotted by the town. It stood on its legs and stretched itself. The woman also finished by petting its head and it flew off into the sky. It had features of an eagle and a hawk, so it wouldn’t be eye catching or something extraordinary to the people.

With this the couple looked at each other once more and nodded. Behind each of them a crack appeared in thin air, it would transport them each to their own world . They each walked through, with the portal shutting behind them.

"WAAAH... AAAAH!" - cried the baby, almost as if he had felt the disappearance of his mother and father.
