《Kuni no Senso》Book 3 Chapter 9: Which Tells of An Attack of a Lifetime

AFTER ABOUT NINE HOURS, they arrived roughly one-thousand seven-hundred fifty miles away from the gates of Central Aotoshi. The sun was beginning to set on that day. The entire military managed to group up in such a manner that they were able to all hop onto the horses at the base. Once they reached that vantage point, Yukan turned his white steed sideways to face his troops to give them one final command.
"We will not be harming any civilians of Aotoshi!" Yukan called out to his comrades. "Our only enemy is the militia which serves under Kunshu!" He decided that it would be best to cut the dramatics before this battle. He felt that a rousing speech was unnecessary at this time since he considered the layout he provided of the plan to be the rousing speech.
The army waited upon that hill as the sun finished setting on the horizon. With anxious feelings in their stomachs, they knew that this was going to be the end. This was going to be the conclusion of the war, whether they succeeded or not. If they succeeded, then the war was won by Akuni and Crenon would be saved from world domination. If they failed, then Kunshu would obtain the Omega Blade and Akuni would certainly fall soon afterward, followed by Medikai. Once the troops realized that the only way to have a glimpse of victory would be to launch this attack, the sun had fallen from behind the fields and Central Aotoshi stood in darkness. The troops rushed in at this time, letting out a blood-curdling war cry, possessing a supernatural resonance as the men yelled, almost as if letting their fears of death escape their bodies.
As the Akuni military began to flood the streets of the royal city, Yukan mixed himself into the army. Once they reached the gates of the town, Yukan stopped himself and dropped Ite off on the outskirts of the town. As Yukan rode toward Kunshu's palace, full steam ahead, Ite witnessed the chaos that appeared to surround the town. Once he arrived at the gates, he trampled the guard with his horse as he broke down the front gate. The gate collapsed before Yukan hopped off of his steed and began to sprint for the castle doors.

He began to sneak around the castle. At one point, he saw a fleet of guards rush out of the building to aid in defending the city. After hiding behind the wall for a decent amount of time, Yukan emerged from behind the column he used as a hiding spot. He ran toward the door to Kunshu's throne room before spotting two guards. As they began to pull out their weapons to fend him off, Yukan sliced them at the torso, watching as their legs collapsed and their bodies fell forward. He slowly opened the door to the throne room to find it empty. The usually illustrious room of Kunshu Mujihina was now barren, save his throne, and a stool with a walkie-talkie resting upon it.
"Shit," Yukan muttered under his breath before returning the Omega Blade to its sheath. He turned back to the door, only for Kunshu to appear in his way before he could leave.
"Snooping around, I see?" Kunshu growled as he began to walk toward Yukan, forcing him back into the room.
"The war's over, Kunshu," Yukan told his foe. "Akuni has claimed victory."
"Really?" the king of Aotoshi chimed in with a smug tone. "Is that what your foolish mind believes?"
"I know," the wielder of the Omega Blade responded. "I gave up on beliefs."
"Oh, how naive," Kunshu began to lay down the truth. "You have much to learn, you stupid boy. I guess you are still nothing but a child. Aotoshi has the upper hand right now."
"How so?" Yukan asked him, doubting the validity of such a statement.
"We own a very important piece of your board, Yukan," the wielder of the Alpha Blade answered. "Your queen, is it? Well...let's just say she'll be headless soon enough."

Yukan's blood froze as he heard those words. He was very doubtful that this could be the case, but he still felt that, if this were true, he would be responsible. Regardless, he shrugged it off in the meantime, considering it to be largely a hoax.
"Ite would never allow herself to get captured!" he yelled out in response. "Quit trying to distract me!" He didn't let his rage take him over quite yet. Yukan slowly unsheathed the Omega Blade. Kunshu followed suit.
"Believe what you want," Kunshu stated as the Alpha Blade cleared leather. "Just know I warned you. I tried to be the nice guy for once and look what it got me."
"Quit your bullshit," Yukan replied. "We still have a card up our sleeves, something that will hit you before you can even blink. You'll regret ever being born."
"Well," Kunshu mocked, "this 'something' you speak of must not be a formidable opponent since you were considered an ace. You are probably the most pathetic excuse for a trump card this world has ever seen."
The two of them raised their blades, preparing to start the duel with one another. They sustained the swords over their heads, waiting for the first attack. Not one movement was made by either man as they stood completely still, letting the chaotic uproar outside be their soundtrack.
"This is for my friend, my master, and my love!" Yukan thought to himself. "I will kill you, you sick son of a bitch."
"That blade will be mine once I crush his pathetic body and weak mind!" Kunshu told himself, not letting these words escape his mind.
Yukan let out a massive war cry as the two of them charged into one another. Yukan knew there was no way he could turn back now. Kunshu had a wild look in his eyes. Finally, the two blades connected as sparks erupted, the sound echoing with a cacophonous effect as the sound waves bounced off of the floor and back to their ears. For the first time since their creation fifty years ago, the Fabled Swords collided, signifying that they had at last been used by opposing sides in a battle.
