《Kuni no Senso》Book 1 Chapter 8: Which Tells of A Discovery

KADAINA AND ITE CONTINUED THROUGH THE PASSAGE and eventually made it outside of Kashikoi's hut. They didn't exit the large opening to the tunnel which would lead to the outside world until they saw that Kunshu and Shirei had left. They waited for three minutes, the bizarre quiet keeping them on edge. Eventually, they saw a Rolls-Royce leave toward Aotoshi from the front of Kashikoi's house. It was at that time that the two of them decided to reunite with their familiar realm.
"I'm sorry, Ite," began Kadaina. "That hole is endless. He's gone. We're going to be joining them both soon if we don't get out of here."
"But I have to protect him!" Ite protested. "I can't leave him, not like everyone else."
"I'm sorry, Ite," he said once more, trying his best to console her. "I really am."
Meanwhile, Yukan was still plummeting into what one might describe as a bottomless pit. He had closed his eyes ready to brace for impact, but when it came, his body slowed down at a decent pace, so he sustained no injuries. He opened his eyes to see that he was lying in a bed of roses.
"ITE?!" Yukan called out to the hole in the ceiling of the dungeon which he now found himself in, knowing it to be the hole he fell out of. "KADAINA? What the hell!?"
In a panic, he began to check his surroundings to find some way out, but he did not see such a thing. He did catch the fleeting glimpse of a large sword during the search. He fixed his gaze upon this dazzling blade. The sword was massive, looking to be about five feet in length. There was a pommel in the design of a rose and the guard seemed to be wrapped in roses, coated with titanium for preservation. The sword seemed to be trapped in an anvil, tied down with rose vines as if it had been caught in a trap.

"I probably shouldn't touch that," Yukan said to himself, secretly thinking about touching it. "Do I usually listen to my own advice? Nah."
With that being said, Yukan arose from the bed of roses and began to approach the sword. The wind began to grow more intense as he approached the blade. He felt as if the sword were calling to him. The wind was but a whisper at first, but the whisper continued to grow louder. This gradual increase in velocity eventually led to the whispering of the wind bordering upon a yell. When he finally grabbed the sword, the rose vines wrapped around his arm.
He let out a cry of pain as he began to lift this sword out of the anvil. At last, the point of the blade escaped the cold hard steel of the anvil and the wind began to blow around him. The vines began to reenter the sword after departing from his arm. Yukan looked at the area to look for any bleeding, only to see a design etched into it. The design appeared to be a rose and almost looked to be a tattoo. It was during this moment that he had come to a realization: he was holding the Omega Blade within his hand.
"Mom's gonna kill me-" Yukan began before stopping himself in sad realization. While within that cave, Yukan realized why the Omega Blade had come to him at this time: he was going to be the one to kill Kunshu. He knew it wouldn't be easy, however, because Kunshu owned the Alpha Blade, the Yin to his Yang.
"I need to find Ite," Yukan stated, once more to nobody, “and I guess Kadaina as well." He begins searching for the exit once more, to which a large door finally reveals itself. Yukan then went through this door to see Ite and Kadaina waiting on the other side.

"Y-Yukan?!" Ite cried out, running over to him and holding him in a warm embrace. Yukan held her to him as she sobbed into his shirt. She gave him a nice smack to the jaw not too long afterward.
"Don't do that to me again," she yelled. "Do you understand me?!" She began wailing once more as Kadaina started to shuffle away from the two of them awkwardly. He decided to take this opportunity to grab their horses.
"I'm sorry, Ite," Yukan said softly to her. "I'm right here, okay? I promise I'm not leaving you behind." He began patting her head as she sniffled some more.
"We gotta go you two," Kadaina interjected in a hurry. "Get on the horses, now."
"Right," Yukan replied in agreement. The newfound wielder of the Omega Blade then guides Ite to her horse and, as she adjusts herself, he gets on his own. Kadaina stops beside him.
"Dude," the mage began, "how are you even still alive?! That hole was endless as far as I know."
"I'm not quite sure myself. We need to talk more though, let's get out of here first."
"Agreed. We need to get far away and calm Ite down. Let's go."
The trio continued their journey to Central Akuni with new hope in the form of a long-lost sword. Little did they know, this sword was the very thing putting the trio in danger to begin with.

The Little Black Umbrella

The two get into one last patch of trouble together as they sneak back into RaRa's home. Just what kind of family secrets has RaRa been keeping from Gill. In blood and thunder, Gill finds out. Please read the content warnings (there may be spoilers within though) if you have triggers. Also there is a slight mention of LGBTQ+, so please don't read this short story if even a short mention bothers you. ======================= My first short story (It's short - 5 chapters, 10,000 word-ish kinda short! And also completed *self pats* that I will be releasing in mini chapters (of 500-800 words each) on Fridays and Saturdays.). Happy to hear actionable and constructive criticisms on how I can improve, but please don't be too harsh okay? :) I know it's not perfect. But hey, we all have to start somewhere.
