(in a small town of people who are all members of the church of holy light, the people convine to the church, all but the sick, and the medicin women that live in the woods healing them with there healing magic and potions in the winter months)
[a woman to another] have you seen evelin's new head covering? fancy looking, must be becouse of that rich man she's meeting at night from the city.a
a[woman2] oh,my, you think so? hmhm, well, how about cory higgins i've heard from the crier and those odd machines he's been making, you think one of them's more "persinal" than others?
[woman1] oh, that is a given, he's bound to be a lonely man, puting all his funds into those doodads to make more doodads
[woman2] hihihihhihi, well have you heard-
(a guy who is going in the same direction cuts them off, and passes between the two) okay thats enough gosip, i just want to get to church, and your draging behind
(the women scoff, and speed up)
(in the church during servace)
[the reverend] good people of salin, we have evil in this town, two...WHORES of perdition, pretending to heal our sick and injured in these times of sickness and pain, but are realy,CURSING OUR HOUSES from the inside, and scheeming to steal our babies out of there cribs for there nefarios rituals! like the story of ezaliky, the city of baboo: the towns people tolerated, and covorted with the heathens who infested the land before them, and the lord avalon smote the entire city with fire from the heavens, and all there water turned to poison for there wickedness and hubris. BEFORE THAT HAPPENS TO OUR TOWN, WE MUST CAST OUT, AND EXICUTE THE TWO WHO DO NOT FALLOW THE HOLY PATH OF LIGHT!
(in a house with a young woman in testing an old woman's arm to see how far the arthriitis has progressed since thelast time)
[young woman] okay finished; it loo like the degridation has slowed since you've been taking the banang extract, and the exersize i've prescribed. how have you've been feeling lady ann

[the old woman] oho, fine dearie, those daily walks have lessened the pain in these legs of mine when playing with my grandbabies, those little tikes are always on the move,..ahh,..if only i could be like that again.
[the young woman]...well,..i have been theorizing a potion to rejuvinate the body, not just heal it, but it's still not ready for even animal testing becouse the ingrediants and hard to come by these days around here.
[the old woman] it's fine dearie,it's just good to know that somone cares...so how has your grandmother been doing?
[the young woman] oh, gran-gran has been well, treating the children who have contracted the flu.
[the old woman] oh dearie my! that is quite a good thing, don't wanna loose any more this year.
[the young woman](looks down at her tools with a kinda sad look)....yeah,..your recovery is going well, some cream for the dry skin, but other than that, keep taking those walks, and make shure to do some of your puzzle books, brain dust is a real problem for the elderly if they don't keep there minds active.
[the old woman] i will, don't worry.
(the young woman gets up and gets her black wide brimed hat with a pointed top [for adishinal pocket space, and protection from being blinded by the sun] as she's walking out the door, off the hat rack)
[the young witch] and don't forget to get some more of your medicine from our pharmacy; bye.
(an old but lightly wrinkled woman wearing a hat in a similar shape to a cornucopia but with a wide mouth,is walking around a large room with beds filled with sick children, using ice and fire magic to cool and heat bags filled with ice/ water, for mostof them had a deadly flu, and one has scurvy somehow,so she's using nature magic as well to stimulate the growth of fruits on some of her trees, so she can juice them)

[the old medicine woman] *fwu* i hope that grand-daugther of mine comes back soon, my old bones need a rest.(she says wile holding a tower of trays of food for the children)
i'd much rather be tending to the plants right now, mainly my ginsing, bloodroot, and witch-hazel..much more sitting in the dirt.
(she hears frenzied yelling outside, coming from the village, she feeds the children, puts them down to sleep, and uses her balancing broom[any safisiant piece of plant matter would work, but a broom provides extra support for the back, and is easy to steer] to help her fly to the village)"ascend plant- high"(she leans forward wile the broom rises aabove the trees, making it move that direction due to the upward force)
(after 5 minutes, as she aproches the village from high above, she casts another) "plant ascend-low"(the broom lowers slowly to waist hight, to get off)
[some guy in ears hot] WELL I HEARD THEY USED MANDRAKE ON MY FATHER, HE DIED SOON AFTER!
[the old witch](walks toward the man)well, your suposed to use the leaves, the root is quite poisonous.
(the group is stunnedfor a moment)..[the same man] SHE'S HERE, GET HER!
[the old witch] oh, suger honey ice tea!(tries to run,but she's a 70 year old woman that looks 40, and they are a group of 4 20 somthings,{do the math})
(she's tied up and paraded to the church, wile her grandaughter hides)
[people]GIVE BACK MY CHILD YOU HAG!; BURN HER!; WHERE IS THE YOUNG ONE?; [EXPLETIVE WORDS]
[the young witch, in the house of a family that know the two aren't bad].....why?..why would they do this?
[the father]...the weak of heart always need a thing to blame for there troubles, and the church knew that you would be a good target, given you two can also heal people, without there magic, you being the "other" only eased the people into blaming you for them
[the young witch]..but they know we do good, how, how could they just..turnon us like this?
[the mother]..well...there was a sermon today denoicing you as pretending to help...the paster was quite loudin it..have either of you donesomthing to get on his nerves?
[the young witch](scoffs)..what makes you think it was our fult?(thinks back)...gram recently told him the holy water was tainted with fecal matter, and when the baby got sick and died after he still dunked it, she said "i told you so"....she also said it in a sassy manor just to try and drive it home to start listening to her....oh god...he didn't.
[the father](afirmative silence)
[the young witch]........this isn't right. i gotta save gram!
[the mother] don't, you'll only afirm there belefs about yo if you try to stop them.
[the young witch, almost in tears]..but i can't just leave her!(rushes out) STOOOOP!, YOU CAN'T DO THIS, YOUR ACTING LIKE SAVAGES!
[a man behind her] SHUT-UP WHORE!(trys to hit her head,buMAY LIVEt she just dodges it)
[the old witch] LEAVE ME, THEY CAN'T SEE REASON, MY BROOM IS RIGHT OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE, TAKE IT AND LEAVE, ATLEAST ONE OF US MAY LIVE!
[young witch]but-
[old witch] JUST GO!(some try to grab her, but she runs to the broom)
[yound witch] plant ascend-high(the broom lifts her out of the reach of the mob)..*snf*..
(she go's home to get they're books, atlest the important ones, in prep for the inevitable burning of the house, allin tears, after tieing the books to the broom, she rides it away from the village, far off in the distance in the direction she's going, an interesting fellow who will love the company)

Stella and the Boxer
The Wattys 2014 "Undiscovered Gem" Stella Henry is afraid of a lot of things. As a child, her simple, comfortable home life did not prepare her for the sort of people whom she would meet as a younger teenager. Now eighteen and a freshman at Clemson University, Stella meets Charlie, who, like her, has long been keeping others at bay. Though his disposition is kind and gentle, Charlie is a boxer, and his world only reminds Stella of elements of her past she would like to forget. When both realize that they have a safe place in one another, they start to overcome their fear of other people, and of letting them get close enough to matter. In many ways, this is a story about allowing people to matter to our lives, and about meaning something to them, in turn. At some point in your day, in your routine, in your life, you will matter to someone. That is a special kind of power, do be careful with it. "We love people not so much for the good they've done us, as for the good we've done them." Leo Tolstoy, War and Peace
