Markus then started to flee from the mayor's creations as they were trying to catch up to him. He formed more of his blood monsters hoping they could slow them down, but it also was in vain. The beings that the mayor made were with ease destroying the blood monsters of Markus.
"Once my hands have been given their target, they will follow them as long as I wish. As long as there is earth underneath them, they cannot be destroyed," Mayor Borges yelled hoping to break the spirit of Markus and his men.
"Thank you for the information," Markus said and got an idea on how to beat the Mayor.
He formed more of his blood creations, but instead of creating one from a single person, he combined them forming larger ones. As the hands charged at them they stopped them and then raised the hands from the ground. When they were disconnected from the earth they crumbled away with Mayor Burgos looking in horror.
"Everything has a weakness and it seems you were stupid enough to yell it out..."Markus pointed out and started to surround the mayor with his blood monsters.
The mayor knew he had been defeated, but instead of trying to run away he just smiled.
"MEN OF THE STATE OF SPADE! IF WE ARE TO DIE LET US DIE WITH SMILES ON OUR FACES SINCE WE DIE FOR A GREATER CAUSE THAN WE COULD EVER BELIEVE! WE DIE FOR OUR PEOPLE!" mayor Burgos yelled.
The mayor then created a spear and shield from the earth and charged at Markus who then swiftly cut him down. Instead of getting demoralized the soldiers of the nation of spade gave their all believing they should die as their mayor did.
Markus walked toward the mayor who was still barely alive. He was coughing up blood but still refused to let go of his smile.

"People like you will all eventually see your downfall, for we who fight for what is right shall always prevail. My only regret is not that I couldn't protect no land, pride or honor but my peo..." the Mayor said before Markus with no emotion separated the man's head from his body.
Markus started to aid his men killing the last of the soldiers of the nation of Spade. He created with the last of his energy more blood monsters to even the playing field.
He then was caught off guard as he collapsed on the ground with the exhaustion and fatigue that his divine power caused.

Markus woke up on the ground and saw his soldiers looking at him. He looked confused and baffled as he got up.
He looked around and saw that his men had won the battle.
"Take it easy, commander," one of his soldiers said.
Markus was confused as to why his soldiers had not deserted.
He then smiled realizing his small gamble had paid off. He on purpose put himself in harm's way hoping to inspire loyalty. He also acted surprised and confused in front of his men as he stood up.
"Idiots..."Markus thought to himself.
"I think we should head to the capital then," Markus said to his men as he got up.

The black company started to march toward the city. Even though most of their garrison had been killed and defeated there was still the obstacle with the high walls of the city. With just a small number of men, the walls could be manned and defended against a larger force. Everyone knew they had left at least a small force to guard the city.
Markus though was not worried at all.

When they arrived they saw the walls had been breached with the last of the soldiers guarding the capital laying dead on the battlements.

As the black company walked through the breach on the wall they saw August and Mona and around fifty soldiers of the black company with them.
"Took you long enough," Mona said.
"Are all the soldiers dealt with?" Markus asked.
"Every single one is dead," August answered.
Markus then turned around and looked at his men.
"Go and have some fun. This city is yours now boys."
The men of the black company smiled and yelled in excitement. They then rushed to the city and started to sack the city.
With no soldiers defending the people, the citizens were at their mercy. The soldiers raped, stole and burnt down all and everything they saw.
Markus put the head of the Mayor whom the citizens loved and adored on a spear and gave it to one of his men. As the people saw this all hope left their souls with only despair replacing it.
An orgy of violence and purgatory started.
Markus started to feel as his powers were growing.
"You feel that too?" Mona asked.
"Yeah...I guess the winds of Pandora are starting to blow here as well."
"You have taken your first step. How do you feel?"
