《EEPOS: from rags to godhood》The man eating Sonam tribe part 4

Haley looked disappointed at the grey skin warriors that were fighting on their side. The other grey skin started to feel angry and that they were disgraced by their own performance. They hurried at the Sonam tribesman with newfound motivation and ferocity.
Even if they were smaller, weaker or not as fast as the Sonam tribesmen the warriors of Haley and Pema. With two Ghersengs cutting down a large portion of the enemy, slowly the tide of battle started to change
Pema smiled and didn't give an answer to Skal. He swept him and was about to kick him with his heel but Skal dodged it that would have cracked his skull if it had hit.
Both Pema and Skal jumped around the battlefield with both being immensely fast and having unnatural reflexes. The fast swings of Skla with his curved blade made it look like he was wielding a whip to the normal eye.
"I see that this is going to be a hard battle. And do you know what follows after a hard battle? A well-earned meal. And as we say among our tribe. The deadlier our prey, the stronger you get when you eat devour it. I will surely be able to best even the mighty Raja once I have savored your flesh in my mouth," Skal said and sharpened his sword and knife with each other.
"The only thing you will savor is your own blood's taste in your mouth."
Though Skal was an even match to Pema he alone was not enough to stop all of them. He looked around and realized his warriors were being pushed back and cut down. The Ghersengs were extremely strong also with one strong enough to take on ten grey skin warriors by themself.
With him distracted Pema attacked Skal with a punch that he managed to dodge barely. The punch went through the building right behind Skal. He thought this was his chance and went to cut the hand of Pema with his butcher's knife. The blade flew off the handle at first contact and the impact sounded like an ax being hit on a rock. Pema just looked and smirked at Skal. His carbon armor was near impenetrable.

Skal decided to run away realizing he couldn't defeat Pema and almost all his warriors had been finished off. He started to run away, with Pema giving chase.
Skal went inside a barn and Pema followed him. Inside he saw all the villagers being gathered and chained with Skal standing with his curved sword looking at Pema.
"It seems we are forced to give out our pantry. Let's make a deal. I don't kill all these humans and you let me go," Skal said and smirked at Pema.
"Fine. Walk away," Pema said with other grey skin warriors entering the barn.
"No, no, no, no. I was not born yesterday. I want you all to get far enough so I have time to run away from you," Skal said and pointed his curved sword at the villagers.
He knew what was Pema's intention as soon as he got far enough from the villagers. He was thinking now if he could take out Skal before he could kill any one of them.
"Don't think you can kill me before I take many of these pig skins with me. You have seen how fast I am. I will cut at least ten down. Just as I told and just walk away," Skal said and smiled at them knowing he had good leverage.
Pema looked frustrated.
"Do not worry. I am sure to keep eating humans when I get away from you. They just are so tasty. When I got my first bite, I felt a huge surge of power. Like I was at the top of the food chain. I even once devoured a fellow grey skin," Skal said and just kept smiling.
A large crystal flew at Skal missing him but was able to scratch him in the left eye. Pema rushed in and kicked Skal away from the villagers. Hailey was standing behind all the grey skins and had just shot the crystal at Skal.

Skal realized his leverage was gone so he threw his sword at Hailey in a last-ditch effort to kill someone important but it too was deflected by a Gherseng.
Skal realized his chance was gone and decided that running away was the only option now. He jumped out of the barn with other grey skins giving chase with Pema in the lead.
Outside the barn, they were desperately trying to catch him, but Skal released more of his divine power and put all his energy into making his legs go faster. He was running easily faster than a horse and was slowly getting away.
After around a five-minute chase the grey skins along with Pema had gotten nowhere close to gaining on him with them catching their breath while looking at Skal running off to the distance.
Skal had gotten away.

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
