They took the little boy to their camp. He still had some injuries on his leg and hands the same spots where Amala had shot arrows at the Seng. Rufus insisted that the boy's wounds would be patched and stitched by Doreen who was first reluctant.
The boy felt comfortable only around Rufus and didn't want to be separated from him. He sat behind Rufus like he was afraid of the others. The boy spoke in grey skin language that Rufus could speak and understand only the basics.
"The only one who the kid wants to talk to is of course Rufus who only speaks broken grey skin," Doreen said.
"Better than yours. Couldn't understand any grey skin language even though you went through all those books," Edward said back at her.
"You mind we don't change the subject here. Who the hell is this kid," yelled Amala and scared to young grey skin child.
The grey skin child went behind Rufus looking like it was afraid of Amala.
"I don't think yelling helps," Rufus said trying to calm Amala down.
"Well, I am sorry. Three of my tribesmen were just killed by this thing. I don't care if is actually a small child. I still am wary of it," Amala said and looked with hostility and distrust at the child grey skin.
Rufus started to try to talk with the little grey skin child.
"What is your name?" said Rufus with bad grey skin language.
"I don't know," the child said.
"Where are you from?" Rufus asked in a gentle voice.
"I don't know," the child said again.
They all seemed confused. They obviously knew that the child had no idea what had happened to him also.
"Do you know anything?" Amala asked in an annoyed and mad voice.

The child hesitated to answer.
"Do you know anything? How you ended up here in the wild and how you turned into…. that thing," Rufus asked.
"I have always been like that. Always. My memory is also very blurry. I always remember being scared. Trying to survive," the child explained.
Amala translated everything to Edward and Doreen. Pema looked more interested after he heard the child's story.
"I remember those feelings also," Pema said.
"What do you mean," asked Amala.
"My time before Tenzin found me is also all blur for me. The only thing I remember being scared and the only thing in my mind was survival," Pema explained.
"You think he is also an abandoned child?" Amala asked.
"I don't know. But I survived. Why wouldn't someone else? He manifested his divine power because of the stress and fear. I also was like him. A wild animal, afraid of everything."
"Divine power can also change a person's appearance?" said Rufus who still didn't understand much of divine power.
"Yeah. Divine power doesn't have many limits," Doreen explained.
"So, you mean all this time the Seng has actually been a grey skin child. This really doesn't help us at all," said an annoyed Amala.
They all looked disappointed. The truth was that there was no Seng to slay now.
"Not necessarily," said Doreen.
"What do you have in mind?" asked Rufus.
"Ask if he can turn back to his second form," said Doreen.
Rufus asked but the child was very reluctant. It seemed that he didn't know how to turn back to the white lion.
Amala was very frustrated and seemed to be very annoyed about the situation. They had to return with some kind of proof that Rufus had slain the Seng.

The child looked very scared about the situation. Rufus understood if you finally had cleared your head and turned into something that you had never seen before was a very scary situation especially for a young child. Rufus saw this and tried to calm the child.
"So you don't have a name right. You know what a name is right?" asked Rufus.
"Yeah I know and no I don't have one," said the child.
Rufus was pondering about a name.
"Gwon," said Pema.
Rufus looked at him.
"Gwon. It means to survive. I think he has done well to survive," Pema said.
Rufus smiled.
"Gwon. How do you like that?" asked Rufus from the child.
The child looked happy.
"Gwon it is," said Pema and smiled also.

All of them came back to their base camp and started to pack their stuff. Pema and Rufus fed Gwon with some food they had and made sure that the wounds were sealed well. They also gave him some basic clothing so he wouldn't have to be naked in the cold.
Gwon looked at Amala and all the other tribesmen. They all looked disappointed since they had failed their mission.
"Is it important to turn into the other form?" asked Gwon from Rufus.
"Well. I guess so," said Rufus back.
The boy then closed his eyes. He started to grow larger and white hair started to stick out from everywhere on his body. Gwon turned back to his Seng form.
All of the tribesmen including Amala took out their weapons thinking that Gwon was about to attack them. Gwon also growled when he saw them pointing weapons at him.
"Calm down now," said Rufus who came between them and Gwon.
"We can now take its head as proof you killed it," said Amala and pointed an arrow at Gwon.
"We can't do that now," said Rufus.
"This was Doreen's plan all along. When it's in that form we get proof we killed it," said Amala refusing to lower her bow.
"He is just a child," Rufus yelled back.
"I don't care. I am willing to kill a child for the Dechen tribe. For all grey skins."
Doreen stepped in the between as well.
"That wasn't actually my plan," said Doreen.
All of them looked confused at Doreen.
"How much do grey skins appreciate if one is able to tame a great beast?" Doreen asked.

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.

The releases for this one will largely follow the same pattern as the main project Avine. One chapter every friday for foreseeable future). 09.29.18: Reality caught up with me, this means I have to scale back my writing time considerably. I promise to finish it, but it will be piecemeal, and progress made likely around holiday times.
