《EEPOS: from rags to godhood》The assassins of the green twin mantis gang part 1

The next morning Edward and Rufus came down to the front of the bar. It was already past the crack of dawn with Haley and Doreen waiting for the two of them.
"Do you know what time it is?" yelled Doreen angrily at the two of them.
"Huooooah, It's time for breakfast," yawned Edward in an attempt to annoy her.
"Ooh wow you really decided to wake up early," Rufus asked from Haley.
"Yeah, but not because she told me to."
Doreen looked extremely pissed. Like an elementary school teacher trying to control a misbehaving student.

Doreen took the gang to the fancy neighborhood of the city. There were nice buildings everywhere and the neighborhood was close to the royal palace. There were no beggars on the streets and people seemed to me smiling, unaware of the harsh reality what was the life of a common person inside the kingdom.
"So, what are we doing here lady," Edward yawned trying to provoke on purpose Doreen by calling her a lady.
Doreen was visibly pissed but tried not to show it and didn't reply to him. She then stopped them at the corner of a building. She pointed out to a specific fancy building.
"That is the home of the leaders of the green twin mantis gang," Doreen said while pointing at the mansion.
"Wait? There is more than one leader," asked Rufus.
"Yeah. There they are,"
Two twin girls came out of the building holding hands. It was the Milene twins who still had the same creepy smiles on both their faces.
"Wait those two adorable little girls are running a gang? You've got to be kidding me," said Edward who was shocked when he saw them.
"Unfortunately, that is the case. Do not let their looks fool you. They both have divinities that should not be underestimated."

"Do you have any idea what kind of power?"
"No. I just know that they have personally done assassination jobs for high-paying clients. They have always left a bloody mess. Killing everyone in the household so not to leave any evidence."
"Then how were you able to obtain this information about their identities?" asked Haley.
"Prince Markus is an extremely resourceful man. For him knowledge is everything and he knows almost everything that happens in this kingdom."
"So, what are we doing here?" asked Rufus.
"We are here to find the meeting place of their assassins. I do believe the two of them are going to the gang's hideout right now. It is also an opportune time to go and steal important documents from their home while they are away.
"I believe we can be able to get our hands on those documents listing all their clients while they are away. That information will be crucial for the prince's plan. I will go and steal the documents while you three follow the twins," Doreen said and explained her plan.
"Listen here now. First of all, you are not in charge. Rufus is the boss of our gang," Haley said and pointed at Rufus.
Doreen was a bit confused as she was talking back at her.
"He is the one who gives orders and I ask him to let me go steal the documents since I am the only one here with burglary experience. RIIIIIIGHT RUUUFUS?" Haley said and stared right into the soul of Rufus.
Haley knew Rufus had a hard time refusing people and he gave up and said he is with Haley's plan. Doreen planted his palm on his face in disbelief. She caved in and then agreed to the change of plans.

Haley started to scout away Inside the building while Doreen, Edward, and Rufus tailed the carriage that was escorting the Milene twins.
The carriage went outside the city walls and was heading north to a place where no one lived.
The carriage finally stopped at a small farm. The place didn't look in any way anything special as just a normal farm building in the middle of nowhere.
"Could that little shed be the meeting place of a deadly group of assassins?" Edward said.
"No. It isn't, but it's a good place to kill nosy people."
Both the twins were somehow able to sneak behind the three of them. They were all caught by surprise by the sneaky twins.
"Oja. Isn't that the aide to the prince, Ana?"
"Yes, it seems like it is, Ene."
At the same time, ten people had surrounded them wearing black cloaks and holding knives in their hands. These people were the assassins Doreen mentioned earlier. They all looked like experienced fighters who were not afraid to get their hands dirty and bloody.
"Well, if this isn't a great situation you dragged us into," said Edward who readied his sword and fighting stance.
Doreen had two rings on both her hands placed on the middle fingers. The rings started to glow, one formed a circular hoplite style shield and the other one a dory style spear. She also took her fighting stance placing her shield in front of her and spear ready to pierce anyone in front of her.
"Shut up, you washed up knight. I was not planning to strike them down now, but since our cover is blown we have to improvise," Doreen said.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought you and your prince were so smart so how come we are now in this situation? And don't call me a knight!"
"Eeeeeeh, You want to have a spear up your ass? It can be arranged!" Doreen yelled.
"Guys! How about we focus on the this thing in front of us!" Rufus said who felt uncomfortable with the two of them fighting.

Crossroads
On the continent of Khaan, a peculiar boy escapes from his hidden village to find a land to call home. Suppressed ambitions are unveiled as a head-strong princess defies the emperor. New kingdoms expand as the old decay. This is a story of those who lived in the times of change. Dear Reader, Thank you for stopping by! This is my first attempt at writing something of more substantial length and would be incredibly grateful to receive feedback and advice. The plan is to post at least a chapter a week and more if I find time. Also, in order to not disappoint any expectations; the story plays in a fictional world reminiscent of the real world 17th to 19th century with some supernatural elements, but no obvious magic or game-like system.

8 164Solstice Anthology
A collection of short stories I've written over the past few years, the centerpiece being "Solstice" itself: On the Winter Solstice, the wind whispered. It roared and blew across the world, and reached even the Heavens above. With it, the great cold of winter flooded across that higher plane, and the gods staggered. They felt the golden dust of their divinity drift away from them, and the message of that wind became clear… This Winter will never end so that the Earth will.
