《EEPOS: from rags to godhood》A party to remember

Two weeks had passed since the sons of the red moon were defeated. Edward had become an official member of the black rat gang after a little bit of convincing from Rufus. It was a beginning of a new era
~~
Edward, Haley, and Rufus came jumping from a fancy building's window.
"Why the hell are you joining us, Haley?!" screamed Edward to Haley while flying through mid-air.
"Oh, someone has to keep an eye on you, and while we are on the subject why is Rufus here helping you during this heist?!" screamed Haley back.
"Oh I asked him?" said Edward.
They jumped on the rooftop of the building below. Soldiers were alerted and began chasing them.
"Why can't I and Rufus just take care of those soldiers? I'd be a lot quicker that way," asked Edward.
"NO! NO! That will cause a scene. We don't want people to know that there are two people with divine powers working as criminals. They'd send some other people with divine power to go after us," stated Haley angrily.
They jumped off the building onto the busy streets.
"Oh, you worry too much. Me and Rufus would surely be able to handle anyone who would come and stop us. Right buddy?" said Edward and smiled.
"Yeah, yeah sure, but guys. Let's pick up the pace, they are gaining on us. They are now chasing us on horseback," screamed Rufus and pointed behind him.
Four horsemen were riding with lances in hand.
After running for a while all around Jacobstadt they were able to lose the guards who were after them. They were now catching their breath and hiding from the soldiers.
"Damn. You really can run fast for someone with no divine power," said Edward with a smile at Haley.
"Oh shut up. What was anyways so important that you had to go and steal it," asked Haley.
Edward then took out a sword. It was the same kind of sword that Rufus had destroyed during their last fight. A very long sword that was as long as Edward himself was tall. A large hilt and guard and a blade as wide as a man's hand.
"That…. That was the reason? For a damn sword! Why the hell?" asked Haley.
"I need a sword, you chimpanzee. My divine powers are for swordsmanship. I really can't do anything without one."
"But why steal it? I mean you could have just bought yourself one. We wouldn't have to have risked ourselves like this," asked Haley.
"No…I only fight with a certain style. An old form of combat that is rarely seen anymore. A style I learned from someone. And for that, I need a certain kind of sword," Explained Edward and then started to look at his sword.

The sword was beautiful with no dents or rust anywhere.
"This sword was just decoration for that fool of a nobleman. He won't be needing this."
"Aaaahmmm. I am sorry that I broke your last sword. I guess it was valuable and was precious to you," said Rufus apologetically thinking he had broken a valuable heirloom of Edward.
"Ah. Don't worry. It was an old sword. And it didn't hold any special meaning. This sword instead holds much more promise. You can see how well made it is. I wouldn't be surprised if it was built by Ilmarinen himself, and brought here from his own world," explained Rufus.
"Ilmarinen?" asked Rufus.
"Ooh, you probably never heard of him. Every weapon or other tool specialist knows him. He is the greatest craftsman of weapons and tools. He can bend the fires of his furnace to his will and craft the most amazing items," explained Edward," He apparently lives on a moon world very close to Asgard. All gods beg to meet him so he can craft them all kinds of objects"
Both Haley and Rufus looked confused.
"Asgard? Moon world? What's that?" Haley and Rufus asked in unison.
"Oi, oi, oi. How don't you know the basics? Haaaah. I'll explain. A world like our own world Aesis is called just simply a world, but some worlds have moon worlds nearby them. They are technically part of the world and technically not. The green solo world for example is a moon world that is technically and not technically part of our world," explained Edward to a confused Haley and Rufus.
"...it's like an island in space close to the actual world," said Edward who realized they weren't getting it.
"Wow the old man knows a lot," said Haley.
"I'm only nineteen, you idiot. One year older than Rufus!" yelled Edward back at Haley.
~~
Later they started to walk towards the black rat gang's official gathering place, old man Haufen's bar. When they arrived there, all the members of the black rat gang were present. When the members saw Rufus entering the bar, they bowed down and yelled," Good evening, Boss!"
"Don't know when I will get used to that," Thought Rufus to himself and waved to everyone.
All the members had put the tables in a U shape. They dragged Rufus to the end of the tables where everyone could see him. Then Haley and Edward sat next to him. Everyone else present gathered around the tables and sat down. The tables were so full of food and drinks that Rufus had never seen so much in his life.
Leif then stood up from his chair with a glass in his hand.

"Krhmhmhm. Only a few months ago we got ourselves a new leader. That turned out to be one hell of a person. Then a little while ago we all found in each of ourselves courage. Some of us are remember being pushed around by the other gangs because we didn't know how to fight. But things are different now. We have grown exponentially and we have new members in our midst. We now control almost all the trading posts and warehouses. Also, we control the markets and forums in this city. We have been reborn!"
Everyone cheered. Among the people were old members of the sons of the red moon gang that had decided to join the gang after their old one was disbanded.
"Now let us give a big applaud to the new executives of our gang," Yelled out Leif like he was hosting a prize event
"First we have our newest member. Edward! He has divine power and is our number one guy to turn to when things get tough. Next, we have Lady Haley, the sister of our boss. With her management, we have been able to cut back on our losses and achieve larger profits. Last and certainly not least we have our BOSSSSSSSS! RUUUUFFFUUUUUS!"
The noise got even louder.
"What are we celebrating?" asked Rufus from Haley.
"You don't remember. It's your birthday, well technically not your birthday, but on this day Harley met you on the streets. Since you didn't know when your birthday was, Harley decided to make this day your birthday. Harley always remembered it, but never had any money to buy you anything or celebrate it in any way," said Haley with a smile.
Rufus felt immense happiness with the only thing missing was Harley. He wished she could have been there with them.
~~
The party lasted until late at night. Almost everyone was passed out on the floor from heavy drinking except Haley and Rufus. Rufus had gone outside for some fresh air and Haley decided to join him.
"You know people don't just get a party when they have their birthday. They also get presents," she said and gave Rufus a gift.
Rufus opened the gift and saw brand new clothes. A navy blue jacket, new dark green colored pants, and new brown boots. He had so far worn the same almost torn clothes.
"Thank you, Haley. Thank you so much," thanked Rufus.
"So, what do you think about our new life. New life as gang bosses. Might be a bit unmoral, but at least we are not starving. You think Harley would be happy about our situation if she saw us," asked Haley from Rufus.
"I don't know. I mean we had been struggling throughout our lives trying to just get by. And even if some of the activities that we do could be questionable we at least mainly focus on those who in a way deserve it I guess," explained Rufus.
"Have I ever told you Rufus that I and Harley probably aren't from this world," said Haley out of nowhere.
Rufus didn't know what to say.
"When Edward today was talking about the different worlds it reminded me of some stories Harley told to me when I was little. When I asked about my mother she told me that our mother left us and put us onto a ship to get off the moon. I didn't understand what she meant by "moon", but what Edward said got me thinking. I don't know. Maybe I just want an excuse to leave this dump," said Haley and smiled a bit.
"What do you mean leave?" asked Rufus.
"You know leave. Like to go see the entire Aesis and not just that. The entire universe. Get on one of those flying ships we see sometimes flying over the skies. Getting on one of those and just seeing the universe and all it can offer," said Haley while she was looking up into the night sky.
"What is it that you want to do Rufus?"
Rufus looked at his hand and then up to the sky and pondered," I don't know. So far, I've always done what I've been told, so never really had any dreams, I guess. Honestly, I just want to make sure everyone is okay like you, Edward, old man Haufen, Mrs. Jean, Leif, and all the others. Never have I ever had so many people I cared about. It's so overwhelming. Maybe when I have made sure everyone will be fine, maybe then I'll join you and go on an adventure into the universe."
Haley smiled and then said jokingly," Wow you are a pushover. You will conquer the entire world of Aesis so you can take care of them. It's going to be one hell of a journey for you,"
"Oh shut up sis," laughed and slightly punched Haley on his shoulder.
"Hey, that hurt, you asshole," yelled Haley at Rufus.
"I barely touched you,"
"But still it hurt," said Haley and showed her tongue.
"Okey, Okey…. I'm sorry. Happy?" said Rufus.
Haley smiled and then said, "Yes, but you have to give me as good of a birthday party to me when it's my birthday."
Rufus was silent and was avoiding eye contact with Haley.
Haley asked," You do know when's my birthday...?"

Tales from the Triverse
Tales from the Triverse is part detective drama, part fantasy adventure and part space opera. I’m influenced by the likes of Iain M Banks, Isaac Asimov and ND Stevenson and work including The Wire and Gotham Central. It begins with an incident two hundred years ago which crashed three parallel universes together. Portals open up in 18th century London, sending England down a very different path. We pick up events in the 1970s, with the Metropolitan Police having established a new department to handle portal-related criminal activity. The story is about intolerance, immigration, multiculturalism and power. It’s about what happens when incompatible viewpoints are weaponised to seed discontent, and the efforts of some to create a fairer world. In the tradition of the best science fiction, fantasy and crime fiction, I’m using the setting to examine themes that matter to me in the real world. Who is it for?If you like science fiction or fantasy, or a mix of both, this is for you. It’s my first foray into crime fiction, but I hope if you’re a fan that you’ll enjoy yourself - especially if you’re looking for something a bit different. I write fiction that is optimistic, progressive and empathetic. Bad things can happen to good people in the stories, but the overall arc tends to be hopeful. Note that if it were a movie, Tales from the Triverse would be a 15 certificate in the UK.
