《The New Creator》Chapter 15

"Clear your head of everything and focus on the feeling of my magic. Once we've matched our magic, I'll search for the dragon and you'll be able to feel where its aura is." Adam said, with his hand on Brandon's shoulder.

Brandon sits on the edge of his bed with his eyes close. He takes a deep breath as he relaxes and clears his head. Seconds pass and he manages to match his magic with Adam.

"Good. Now then, let's look for that dragon." Adam said, closing his eyes as well.

They sit in silence for several minutes before speaking again.

"There it is, near a destroyed city it seems. That's good, means you'll have plenty of room to take care of it." Adam said, taking his hand off Brandon.

"That city, I was there during its destruction. It use to be called Brittlemore, it fell a very long time ago. Even though it was liberated, the damage was immense and everyone claimed the place was haunted so what remained was quickly abandoned." Brandon explained, standing up.

"Well in this case it's good that it was abandoned. You wouldn't be able to evacuate it if there were still people living there." Adam explain.

They make their way out of Brandon's room and into the hallway.

"Don't forget to do what we discussed while I'm gone. If they want to keep up, they're going to need your help." Brandon said as they made their way down the halls.

"I'll make sure it's done, I should be to push them to at least four times in power while you're gone," Adam said.

Brandon nods at him and they stop before the main doors.

"Don't forget, once you use that spell the council will be able to sense it. If you don't finish it with that one move, you'll be on a timer." Adam explained.

"Sounds easy enough, just don't miss my shot and everything will be good. Well, I'm off, if I need you I'll call." Brandon said, opening the door.

Adam waves as Brandon leaves and then turns to make his way towards Kaito and Nozomi's room. He knocks on their door and Nozomi opens it.

"Oh hey, Adam, what I can do for you?" Nozomi asked.

"It's not what you can do for me, but what I', going to do for you and your brother. Brandon just left to kill that dragon and he tasked me with furthering your training while he is away. He stated that you two would be no match for this kind of fight and wanted me to help train you two so you can help out whenever this kind of fight happens." Adam explained.

"How are you going to further our training?" Kaito questioned, practically leaping from his bed.

"Come with me, we're going somewhere special to train," Adam said, walking away from their room.

He leads them to Brandon's room and opens the portal once again. As they enter, Nozomi and Kaito are in awe.

"What is this place?" Nozomi asked as she looked around at all the books.

"The divine library of Heaven and outside that door over there is one of the many fields of Heaven," Adam explained.

"Wait, so we're actually in Heaven? How does that even work?" Kaito questioned in disbelief.

"Heaven isn't just a single place, Heaven is comprised of tens of thousands of locations to be exact. This area is simply one of the many that makeup heaven. I have access due to my role in Brandon's trials. I was permitted to bring him and anyone who is helping him on his journey here to gain knowledge and power. And that's why we're here. I'm going to make the both of you stronger." Adam said.

Still baffled at what they just heard, they nod in agreeance to Adam, both of them eager to continue training.

In the middle of the throne room, the floor begins to glow white. Suddenly Mirabelle, Syllia, and the council soldiers appear in the castle.

"We shall begin our preparations for the barrier now." One of the soldiers said as he bowed.

The soldiers walk out of the castle and into the town.

"I still can't believe this is happening. I'm glad Brandon isn't here, he'd probably try to go fight the dragon and get himself killed. Or try to take care of the Oracle beam in some way." Mirabelle said, sitting down at her throne.

"He has always had a flair for the dramatic, hasn't he?" Syllia asked, letting out a chuckle.

"That he has, thank God he's out traveling," Mirabelle said.

Suddenly Gerald enters the room and kneels before them.

"Welcome back your highnesses, I have news for you. Prince Brandon returned home yesterday evening and left this morning to kill the dragon.

They stare at him in silence then look at each other

"You've got to be kidding me," Mirabelle said, shaking her head in disbelief.

"I'm afraid not your majesty, he left a few hours ago. Also, I can't find Nozomi or Kaito either, they might have gone with him." Gerald explained.

"Nozomi and Kaito? Who are they?" Syllia questioned.

"From what I know, they're his students. They've been traveling with him for more than a year now. I checked their room and couldn't find them so I assume they went with him." Gerald said.

Mirabelle begins to rub her temples once again.

"One thing after another. Now he's going to get other people killed along with himself." Mirabelle said in frustration.

"Come on now, let's think positive. Who's to say that Brandon can't beat the dragon? We don't know how strong he's gotten during his travels. Plus, the castle is pretty big, maybe Kaito and Nozomi decided to explore some. Brandon does his best to make sure others are kept away from violence, you know that. He probably went off on his own to fight it." Syllia explained.

"You're right, I just wish he wasn't so quick to throw himself headfirst into danger. Let's go look for the other two, I'm curious to see just who they are." Mirabelle said, standing up from her throne.

After searching nearly every room, they stop to check Brandon's room. They knock and open the door, they're taken aback by the portal in the cent of Brandon's room.

"What is a portal doing here?" Mirabelle questioned.

"I have no idea, but there's a note here on his bed," Gerald said.

Gerald picked up the note and read it aloud.

"If anyone finds this portal, don't worry about it. I'm currently training Kaito and Nozomi while Brandon is gone. I can explain everything once we're done if anyone is curious. PS, don't enter the portal, it will almost certainly lead to the death of anyone who enters, Adam." Gerald read.

"Who's Adam?" Syllia asked.

"I'll explain what I know over lunch. Let's just leave this for now and hear about it when they're done." Gerald said, placing the note back on the bed.

Mirabelle and Syllia reluctantly agree to leave the portal and save their many questions for later.

Brandon stands on the crumbled road that led into Brittlemore. He takes several deep breaths, trying to remain calm as he begins walking into the abandoned city. Several memories begin to flood his mind as he walks through the war-tattered city once again. Old stone roads covered in moss and vegetation crumble slightly under the pressure of his feet as he walked. Decrepit buildings barely stand on the sides of the roads, all hope of being rebuilt gone from their years of crumbling away. Brandon reaches the center of the city, where a once-grand fountain use to stand. He stands almost trembling as he looks where the fountain used to be. The dragon was lying in its place, almost curled into a ball like a dog taking a nap. From its head to its tail, it was covered in deep crimson scales, each with black going along its edges. As the dragon breathes in its sleep, Brandon can see massive heat waves rising.

"I can't sense any magic from this thing, yet I'm terrified. Its size alone is scary. But this is my only chance, I'll finish this with one shot while it's still asleep." He thought to himself.

Directly across from him, past the dragon, a four-story building, barely standing. He notices it and quietly makes his way toward the building. Making his way through the doorless doorframe, he hastily makes his way to the roof of the building. Even on the roof, the dragon's size made Brandon feel tiny in comparison as the dragon was still taller than the building while laying down. He closes his eyes and takes several deep breaths.

"Adam's plan will work, just stick to what he said and it'll work out." He thought to himself, trying to calm his nerves.

He jumps straight up into the air and suddenly little black squares beneath his feet. He uses them to jump further and further into the air until he was a couple of hundred feet above the dragon. Brandon raised his right arm above his head, pointing his palm outward towards the sky. A small perfectly round orb appears in his hand. It emitted a soft golden and white light, slightly illuminating his palm. Brandon tightens his arm and his veins become prominent in his arm and hand as he sends more magic into the orb. Within seconds the orb grew rapidly in size, before long the orb was larger than common houses.

"Ju..just...a little more power." Brandon struggled to see as his breathing became labored.

Sensing the massive magic energy, the dragon is jarred awake and looks up at Brandon, letting out a blood-curdling roar. It opens its mouth, revealing hundreds of blood-stained teeth. An orange glow builds up from the back of its throat, it's chest expands as it begins to build a massive amount of magic energy. Suddenly the dragon releases the magic from its throat, breathing fire out. The fire was as hot as the sun, scorching the air itself as it rushed towards Brandon. At this point, Brandon's magic had formed an orb almost the size of the dragon itself. He launches it towards the dragon and hits the stream of fire on its way down. The orb splits the fire down the middle and makes its way directly to the dragon. Within seconds the orb hits the dragon and it lets out a horrifying roar in agony as it becomes engulfed in blinding light. Everything begins to shake and tremble underneath the power of the orb, so much that it knocks Brandon back down to the ground. The orb expands, covering the entire dragon's body, and continues to expand until it covered more than half of the city. It gives a quick flash of white light and vanishes into thin air. Brandon gets off the ground and tries to catch his breath. He walks around the corner of a building and stops in his steps in shock at the damage he had caused. Most of the abandoned city was gone, the buildings, the streets, the lights, even the bushes, everything was gone. Before him, was a massive spherical crater, which was deep enough to hold another city inside it. He sits on the edge, giving a faint smile.

"That went better than expected, I shouldn't have doubted Adam so much. He knows his stuff." He said, looking down into the crater.

A faint buzzing noise fills the air as a small metallic ball approaches him. He turns and spots the ball getting closer to him. Its blue lens spins as it stares at him and then at the crater.

"Damn, should've known the council would've detected that much power. At least now I don't need to worry about them using the Oracle on us." He thought to himself, as he waved at the ball.

In an instant the ground began to violently shake, causing Brandon to struggle to keep his balance. Both he and the ball ran to the edge of the crater and looked down at the center of it. There was still dust settling from Brandon's attack, but they could make out the shadow of what looked like a person down at the bottom. The person lets out a scream that was more beastlike than human, shaking the ground as it does. The ball lets out a small beeping sound before taking off.

"Not good, if that thing makes it, it'll tell them to fire the Oracle." He thought to himself.

He holds out his hand and began shooting black lightning bolts at the ball. However, before he could land a hit, the person screamed again. The vibrations caused the edge to give out from beneath Brandon's feet, sending him rolling down to the bottom of the crater. He slowly stands up, his cloak tattered with new holes. Without warning, a ball of flame flies directly at him. As he jumps to the side, the edge of his cloak catches fire. He hastily pulls it off and tosses it to the ground.

"I'm impressed, after using all that magic you're still pretty quick on your feet." A deep, almost demonic voice said.

Brandon turned towards the voice which came in the direction of the center of the crater. A humanoid figure stood before, nearly eight feet in height. It had dark-chocolate skin, with most of its body riddled with scars. Its torso, arms, and legs were human, with its hands and feet that of a dragon. It had yellow eyes with spikey, short, black hair on its head. A crimson dragon tail drags on the ground behind it. Brandon was slightly trembling as the figure got closer to him.

"Before I kill you, I'd like to offer my thanks. I've been stuck in that form for a while now, all that magic you threw at me broke the seal holding my true form back." The creature said, just a few feet away from Brandon.

"True form? Just what the Hell are you?" Brandon asked, trying to calm his shaken nerves.

"Well, I supposed you've earned some answers. My name is Djall, demon lord of all the flames in Hell. Lucifer created me along with some other demons to fight in his war against God all those years ago. Once Lucifer lost the war and God decided to make the holy artifacts, he sealed me along with the other demons inside a ring. This ring could summon just about any monster you can think of, and if the user's will is strong enough, they could conjure up one of us, instead of a normal monster. That chimera that the DHA took care of, that was a demon-like me, though significantly weaker." Djall said, giving a cocky grin.

Suddenly Djall was towering over Brandon, grinning ear to ear. He punches Brandon directly in the stomach, sending him flying off his feet and across the crater, slamming into the side of it.

"If you lived through that kid, I'll answer another question for you!" Djall yelled out to Brandon.

Struggling to muster his strength, Brandon manages to stand back up, coughing up some blood onto the stony ground below. Djall jumps to Brandon, landing just a few feet away from him. He begins clapping and smiling at Brandon.

"Bravo, no mere mortal could survive that, you must be extremely powerful. I'll answer another question for you if you'd like." Djall said, stopping with his claps.

"Lucifer made you, are you and the other demons he made the original demonic beasts in the bible?" Brandon asked, wiping blood off his bottom lip.

"Yes and no, we're one of a kind, not a species like the bible stated. Leave it to humans to get things wrong with their bibles. There are nine of us total, that bit is correct. Each with a different monster type, the royal behemoth you killed was just a monster created from the ring. However, that chimera was another demon such as myself. Of the original nine of us, I'm the second to be summoned into this world. Which sucks for you, because I'm the strongest of the nine." Djall explained.

Djall readied his fist to strike Brandon again, but before he could an elderly woman begins yelling at Djall. She was a short woman, gray hair held up in a bun, a small wooden cane helping her stand. Her handmade clothes were worn and had small threads hanging off.

"Stop playing around, kill this idiot and let's continue with my plan!" She said, swinging her cane at Djall's leg.

"This is Maria, the current user of that ring I mentioned. She's been the one summoning the extra monsters you've seen around the South as of late. And she's technically able to control anything she summons with that ring, however." Dajll said, leaning over her.

With one swift swipe, Djall rips the old lady's arm clean off. She screams in agony and cries as she hits the ground, grabbing at the stub where her right arm used to be. Blood pours out of her wound, soaking her and the ground. Djall pulls the rings off her right hand, then proceeds to eat her right arm. Brandon stands there, too scared to make a move. After stripping as much meat off the arm, Djall tosses it to the side and licks his lips.

"Not even worthy as a morsel you old hag. If you're wondering why you couldn't control me, well, that ring was intended to control any monster you summon. Seeing how Brandon over there broke my monster form and sent me into my demon form, you could no longer control me." Djall explained grinning ear to ear.

He places his foot on the old lady's head and with one step, crushes her head as if it was just a grape. Blood and brain matter splatter out onto the ground. Djall begins laughing hysterically as he steps on her remains a few more times before turning back to Brandon.

"Sorry about there, now we can go back to our little game," Djall said, lunging toward Brandon.

"Something's wrong, Brandon's aura is getting weaker and there is a new one at his location. I can't sense that dragon's aura anymore, but the new one is significantly stronger than the dragon." Adam thought to himself, as he watched Kaito and Nozomi train.

Kaito and Nozomi who had been sparing stop and stare at the portal, their eyes widening in fear.

"If they can sense it, then it's as bad as I thought. Everyone within a thousand miles can probably sense this strong aura. This is very problematic, Brandon's aura is a drop in the ocean compared to this new one." Adam thought to himself

"The council's soldiers have already reported the location of the energy, they're being told the Oracle will be fired soon," Syllia said, walking up to Mirabelle's throne.

"What happened to it taking them a day to charge the damn thing?" Mirabelle questioned.

"I was informed that it was already charged before the voting was even concluded, everyone is ready at their positions to hold the barrier," Syllia explained.

"Damn those bastards! Come on, we need to go help with the barrier, it's all we can do at this point." Mirabelle said standing up from her throne.

With her fists clenched tightly, she storms out of the castle and towards the city edge to help the soldiers.

Brandon jumps backward, dodging Djall's fist. Djall lets out a laugh and lunges at Brandon again.

"That's it! Make this fun for me, I haven't had this much fun in forever!" Djall yelled as Brandon dodges his fist.

"Adam!" Brandon called out, holding his right arm in the air.

Adam appeared in his sword form and drops into Brandon's hand.

"I was wondering when you were going to summon me. I see that things have taken an unexpected turn in the worse possible way. So who exactly is this?" Adam asked from inside Brandon's head.

"I'll explain everything later, just know this is that dragon I tried killing with that spell," Brandon explained.

Before they could say more, Djall flung a fireball at them. Brandon dodges it with ease and readies his sword.

"Teleportation magic and you have a holy artifact? You're full of surprises, please try to entertain me for a bit longer. I don't want the fun to end." Djall said, throwing another fireball at Brandon.

With one swing, Brandon cuts the fireball in half. The two halves crash onto the ground behind him, causing two small explosions. He grips his sword tightly and the Adam gemstone begins to shine brightly from the handle. He runs towards Djall and swings his sword. Djall stumbles backward, surprised by Brandon's new speed. In an instant, Brandon was behind Djall and with haste, he cuts off Djall's tail. Djall screams in pain and rage.

"Just because you got a small power-up, doesn't mean you stand a chance against me!" Djall screamed.

Djall matched Brandon's speed and lands another punch, the sound of one of his bones breaking fills the air as he is thrown across the crater. Djall inhales a deep breath, his chest expands and emits a soft orange glow. He let out his breath, sending a stream of scorching flames directly towards Brandon, who was still flying from the punch. Brandon shoots a gust of wind out from his hand, launching himself to the side, barely dodging the flames. He struggles to stand, his hand over his chest, he winces in pain.

"That was close, I don't know what we're going to do. You got any plans?" Brandon asked Adam.

"No, I don't know what to do, and if you keep using my power you're gonna run out of steam in a few minutes," Adam said, trying to think of something to help.

"At least it was only a rib that he broke," Brandon said, letting out a chuckle.

"Next will probably be your face if we don't think of something. Damnit, if we only had my wife's gemstone, she would be perfect in this situation." Adam said.

"Looks like there's no other choice, I'm going to use my godly aura. With that, it should at least be an even playing field." Brandon said.

"Damned if we do, and damned if we don't, huh? Either you die from him or you die from too much power. I'll link to your god aura and do my best to keep the internal damages to a minimum." Adam said.

"While that will be helpful, I need a couple of minutes to prepare myself. I haven't done this in a very long time, and I don't think he's going to give us the time." Brandon explained.

Djall rushes toward them and Brandon braces himself. Suddenly Djall stops in his tracks and looks toward the sky. The sky turns dark and the ground begins to tremble. Brandon uses this chance to close his eyes and focus on his godly aura. A black beam shoots down from the sky, piercing the clouds. Djall laughs and holds up both his hands catching the beam. The beam pushed his body down with such great force, that the stone beneath his feet began to break and crumble. Brandon could barely keep his balance from all the violent shaking that was going on.

"Shouldn't it be doing more than just shaking the ground?!" Mirabelle called out to the leader of the council soldiers.

"Something must be wrong, it should've exploded by now!" He yelled back.

Dozens of soldiers stand their ground, each holding a part of the barrier, awaiting the catastrophe from the Oracle.

Djall lets out a roar and flings the beam back into the sky. It travels just above the clouds before exploding, clearing the sky of every cloud.

"Now that was some serious power, I guess whoever fired that didn't care about surrounding casualties," Djall said, catching his breath.

He looks down at his hands and sees some small singe marks on them. He let out a laugh.

"All of that power, just to burn my hands a little. But, I'll give credit where it's due, I've never been burned before." He said in between his laughter.

As he turned toward Brandon, he was met with a fist to the face, sending him flying back. He bounces off the crater floor several times before crashing into the wall, causing dust clouds to form. Brandon cracks his neck and stretches out his arm.

"Been a long time since I've felt this much power. I just hope I don't need to go overboard with it." He thought to himself.

Suddenly two massive fireballs shoot out from the dust clouds directly at him. With ease, he simply flicks them away from him. Djall grits his teeth in rage at Brandon's sudden increase of power.

"Where the Hell did you get all this power from?!" Djall asked bitterly as he walked closer to Brandon.

"I'm a man with many tricks up my sleeve," Brandon said.

"No this is more than just a trick. Wait a minute, I get it now. You're part god, and judging by all that aura, I'd say it's a war god. Which god gave you their blood?" Djall asked with concern.

"Zion, he said I'm his legacy to continue his goal of killing God. Though, I killed him and plan on killing God for my OWN reasons." Brandon explained.

"Dammnit, I won't last long in a fight against him in this state. Seeing how he hasn't transformed his body any, I'm going to assume he hasn't mastered his god powers yet. His body will break soon, so I just have to last long enough for that." Djall thought to himself.

Brandon holds his right arm out to his side and a black lightning bolt appears in his hand. He flings it toward Djall, barely missing him as Djall ducks under it. Djall begins flinging as many fireballs as he could toward Brandon. Brandon leaps backward and holds both his arms out in front of him. Dozens of lightning bolts appear in the air behind Brandon. Brandon swiftly drops his hands down and the lightning bolts fly with haste directly at Djall. They cut right throw Djall's fireballs, causing them to fade away. Djall throws his arms in a cross over his face to brace himself as several lightning bolts strike his body. Each bolt leaves his body with a black burn mark and causes his muscles to spasm as he tries to move. He bites his lip to the point of bleeding in a rage. He lets out a roar and digs his nails into the ground. With all his strength, he begins pulling on the ground, pulling out a huge chunk of stone. He engulfs it with his flame and throws it at Brandon and begins running behind it. Brandon jumps to the side of it and Djall surprises him. Djall grabs him by his shirt and lifts him into the air. Brandon punches him in the face with his left hand, breaking a few of his fingers.

"Seems like you're little power-up has run out, it's just as I assumed. You haven't mastered this yet, and each second you use it, your body takes damage. I hardly felt that little punch and you ended up with broken fingers. I enjoyed this little fight, but it's time for this show to en,d kid." Djall said, shaking Brandon around.

Djall quickly takes his free hand and stabs Brandon directly in the stomach with his claws. Blood shoots out of Brandon's mouth, landing on Djall's arm. He wiggles his claws around as blood trickles out onto his hand. Brandon's vision was starting to fade, he could feel his consciousness slipping away.

"Come on Brandon, don't give up now! You can still defeat him, he's within grabbing distance. Use all of your power and force your magic into him. He's a demon, forcing your godly magic into him will be like an extreme exorcism for him!" Adam called out to Brandon.

With what little strength he had left, Brandon grabs onto Djall's head as tight as he could.

"Try all you want, you're..."

Before Djall could finish, Brandon began forcing as much of his magic into him. Djall's eyes begin glowing white, blood leaking out of his ears. His body begins to practically glow with a holy white light. His body begins shaking and without warning, there is a blinding flash of light followed by an enormous explosion. The blast throws Brandon across the crater and had burned most of his clothes to his skin. The only thing of Djall that remained was his feet, which both were smoking. Brandon lands on his back and looks up at the sky.

"Don't pass out Brandon! If you pass out now you're going to die, there isn't anyone here to help! Send me back home and I'll get you help!" Adam yelled out.

With his eyes almost fully shut, Brandon barely lifts his right hand off the ground.

"Return." He struggled to whisper.

Adam disappears instantly as Brandon's hand drops to the ground.
