《Trek Into The Woods》Chapter 21

“Ah, there one is” I hear a woman speak, I turn around to see Lisa standing there holding one of those rods with wire at the end to capture animals.
“What are you doing here, aren’t you suppose to stay in the lab?” I ask to her.
“Nah, too boring. And plus you’re going to need help catching one so we can examine it” she shoots back.
“Fine then, I’ll draw its attention and you can grab it from the back” “sounds good to me” she answers.
I watch as she circles around the mutated person careful not to make any noise. Alright, my turn now. I jump out of cover, “Oy, over here you big ugly lump” (I know making fun of it isn’t going to do anything but it still can be fun). The thing snaps its attention towards me, “Yeah that’s right, come on”.
It begins to slowly navigate towards me, “You’re a rather slow one aren’t you?” I question it. It stops and stares at the question, then breaks into a sprint at me. It grabs me by the shoulders and slams me to the wall behind. “LISA GRAB IT!!” no wire comes, no answer sounds, just the gnashing of teeth in front of me. “LISA, where are you!?” no answer comes forth, just void. The room flips onto its side, I’m on my back against the wall. “LISA!!!” teeth go for my throat.
I grab ahold of the arm shaking my shoulder and hold where the teeth went for. I gasp for air, my skin is clammy to the touch. “Are you alright?” I look over to Alexia whom just asked the question, stare at her blankly for a moment. I release her arm and lean back into the driver seat, Alexia and I are in the front seats, Doug and Helen are in the back seat. Helen wanted to split girls to boys but no matter the situation or timeframe I don’t believe in splitting up couples, so we got put in the front seats with a barrier in between us.

“What am I saying? Or course you’re not, nobody is” she whispers out, the other two sleeping. After I get relaxed again I speak, “The trick is not to let it get to you” I smirk. “How can I not let it get to me? It’s all around, it’s our very world now” she says back. “Now? Since when has it not been” I ask, “What do you mean?” she replies. “The world has always been a cruel and unjust place to live. Wars waged by old men panting at greed and power, young men drafted or volunteering for violence and dying for the unknown true goal. Psychopaths running ramped through the streets killing for pleasure, kidnappers gunning for ransom. Robbers stealing what they don’t deserve from those who do” I pause to catch my breath and to have it sink in “ the present only adds another element as other things have in the past centuries. The world as always mean corrupt in many ways, in time we’ll learn how to callus it, learn how to deal and handle the situation and solve it. It all takes time and others to heal old and new wounds alike”.
“Uh” Alexia lets out an awkward sound. “Pfft, don’t worry about it too much. Just remember to stay close to your friends and trust in them. Everything else will fall into its own place the way it’s suppose to be. The universe is chaotic, yet still is peaceful and ordered in its own way” I look over at her face, which as a confused look on. “Haha, I’m going to try and get more sleep. You get enough too” I give a soft smile to her, probably can’t see it though since it’s quite dark.
“Have some good dreams” she replies, “Yes, you too ma belle” I mutter as I drift back to the void.

An Unbound Soul
When Peter suffers a too-close encounter with a truck, he finds himself reborn in another world. At first glance it is a perfect fantasy land. There's magic to play with, elves singing in the forest and a hyperactive catgirl neighbour. There's even a System that lets him earn skills and level up. But it isn't long before he notices that the world is far too perfect. Just why is everyone so nice? Can Peter accept the alien morality of this world's self-proclaimed protector, or will he seek to overthrow her? Set after the events of A Lonely Dungeon, a few hundred years after the rebirth of civilization, this is a story about an earthling falling into Erryn's new world and the subsequent struggles of himself and Erryn to understand each other. It's a slow paced slice of life, and while there are pieces of action, don't expect any immediate grand conflict between Erryn and Peter. Published here, scribblehub and amazon. Two new chapters a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Empty Valley Cries Unheard
The stories can be read at any order. Phew, this story was finally finished at last! What could I say, it was a hell of a ride when I wrote it from the beginning to end. Thanks for having me on RR :D All the current chapter had already done a run on Grammarly, so hopefully it'd be more readable. ...kinda feeling lazy so calling off the edits for now. A couple of old / new attempts of combining Horror, Comedy and Absurdist elements. I'm not very good at writing Horror stories but I'd like to try once in a while. Although the first chapter may be completely screwed up, believe me--I mostly write fluffy gay scenes between two girls. It would PROBABLY become a lot lighter as we moved up the chapter count. Not for the faint of heart, but if you're like me who like some absurd or nonsensical stories, this might be right up your alley. Sorry in advance if some of the chapters seem normal lol additional tags : nonsense / absurd / parody

A Demon Lord's Reincarnation
Selina’s got a pretty active imagination. When doing math, she pretends that she is a great detective solving a heinous crime! Ordinary tasks, like a trip upstairs, turn into a perilous adventure to raid a dragon’s cave! She believes that life should be full of wonder and magic, and tries to force the world to cope with her conviction! But when Selina wakes up to remember her past life as the Demon Lord, she has to face the fact that real life is messy, and not anything like what she imagined. With ancient powers stirring, family problems, and the hectic life of a teenager, Selina will have to discover more about herself if she is going to survive the trials ahead. With the help of her best friend and a fair share of luck, she might just get through this alive. Maybe. (Updates (hopefully) on Sundays) This story started out as a flipped isekai. Instead of a hero being pulled into a medieval world, a Demon Lord is pulled into the modern world. It has since moved a bit beyond that initial premise but it is the foundation of the work. Along the way, I threw in dragons, elves, dwarves, and some vampires (but no werewolves, gotta nip that in the bud) all wrapped up in the political drama of a modern world. The story, however, will mainly focus on the characters and their development and as such, is a bit of a slow burn. It may take a couple of chapters to get into. You have been warned! (PS, please show patience for the author's notes. They're a bit crazy and don't always make the most sense. The author's a bit of a ditz. Please ignore him.)

Blood & Noodles
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] As they always have, humanity hunts the gods roaming the world, craving the supernatural power that flows within their veins. Even a drop is zealously guarded, passed from master to student through the ages. It is with this stolen power that the Blooded - those with divine blood coursing through them - grasp beyond mortality and achieve prestige, power, and greatness. Yet, for every fraction of power gained, thousands perish, slain by the gods' supernatural prowess. But everything is beginning to change. Eight years ago, for the first time in human memory, a god was felled. Part-time chef and full-time nuisance Orvi wants nothing to do with gods. Living in a derelict city, his only concerns are ensuring his adopted family's restaurant is prosperous and how to best beat the neighbourhood boys in a fight. If he's lucky, he might even snag a date with the farmer's daughter at the market. But even though he cares nothing for the gods or their blood, the world won't leave him alone forever. Because to reach godhood, one must first leave their humanity behind. *** The first arc of Blood & Noodles follows the adolescent Orvi as he attempts to navigate his rapidly changing home and - by his own definition - protect his family. The story is told almost entirely in the first-person, from the perspective of a teenager who isn't always the sharpest tool in the shed. There are tragic elements, especially in the current arc. It's character-focused and driven, though the protagonist's shenanigans are backdropped by a world operating independently from him. Orvi's a generally light-hearted character, and though the story veers into darker territory, I also want it to be able to make readers smile. Action sequences, despite the fantastical elements, are meant to be grounded and clearly-conveyed; Orvi is a brawler, not a warrior. I'm trying to write a story that's enjoyable to read and flows nicely, mainly because it's more fun to write. I'm also trying to improve my writing, so any feedback, whether positive or negative, is welcome!
