《Trek Into The Woods》Chapter 15

My hands drop to my sides, (Don’t provoke him to do anything rash). I move my foot to take a step, “I Said Don’t Move! Or is it that you want me to kill her” I lean back and raise my hands “No no, I don’t want that”. I look into Alexia’s eyes as if to telepath you’ll be okay, I’ll get you out of this. What I see is of True fear and shock, not the fear of dying, no that would be to easy. This fear is having her free will taken away, helpless, being able to do absolutely nothing against this horribly man. The shear terror, this situation, she went through something similar to this before. The shear terror of knowing what can and will happen.
“What is it that you want?” I ask the man. “Your supplies, all of them. I don’t know how this place is still standing, but it must mean your loaded” He laughs. “May I ask one question before this goes any further?” I ask (even though this is a question in itself). “What is it?” He hisses. “It’s probably obvious one but, How did you find this place?” “I’ve been following them 3 days back, then I found this place. I just waited until the best time to attack” he gave a hissed laugh. (He’s begin watching them huh) I watch as Alexia’s face turns pale and her eyes tremble with even more fear as that though runs through her brain too. “Come here and gag her. If you even think about doing anything funny, I won’t hesitate to plunge this straight into her throat” Alexia makes a squeak “What am I suppose to use?” I ask. “The cloth hanging off my bag” he notions to the bag he has over his shoulders. I slowly walk over to him, “Don’t even think about it” he hisses. “Don’t worry, I have no plan to be the hero today” “Good” he notions his head. I slowly grab the cloth and walk to the front of Alexia, “Don’t you dare try to scream” he presses the knife a bit more on her throat, somehow it doesn’t draw any blood. He removes his hand from her mouth and I hear a little gasp from her lips. I lift the cloth up to her mouth “I’m sorry” I whisper, I wrap the cloth around her head and tie it off. He then pulls the pistol out from her pants, she flinches slightly (Why did you have to bring that with you). He pulls the knife away and points the pistol at her head, “Get Back!” I step back a few steps. “Take me to your supplies!” I start walking backwards with my hands up again, Alexia doesn’t move. He shoves the gun onto her head and she whimpers, “Move IT!” She squeezes her eyes shut and starts letting out small cries. I start walking back to Alexia “What are you doing!?” He’s starting to get in a frustrating mood. I motion my hands in a hold on gesture “If you give me a moment, I’ll get her to start following” “Fine.” I walk up to Alexia and place my hands under her ears, holding her head I place my forehead on her forehead. “Even if it’s the smallest speck, do you trust me?” she waits a second and gives a small nod. “Good, I’ll get you out of this situation soon. I won’t let any harm come to you.” I whisper. I let go and step backwards, “Now, please. Follow me” I keep walking backwards and she begins to follow. I take him through the usual route. (He seems to have some intelligence, which is lucky for me since he won’t go into a frenzy. Though he does have a bad temper).

We reach the steel door, he pushes Alexia to the door “Open it”. She touches the side panel and it lights up, “She can’t” I say. “Why Not!?” he screams, “Because I’m the only one that has the code” He grabs her and pulls her away from the door. He harshly motions with the pistol “Then Put It In” “I will gladly cooperate and give you no trouble if you allow me to tie her to the stairwell”. He stands there for a second letting what I said soak in. “Err! Fine. If you promise full and complete cooperation.” “I will give you no trouble at all”. “Fine. Fine.” He grabs a long zippy tie from his bag and tolls it to me “Make it quick!”. I hurry over to Alexia and sit her down on the stairs, I reach around her from her front and grab her hands. I guide her hands through the rail, “if you would please hold them there” I whisper into her ear. I begin the wrap the tie around her hands, “I’ve scrapped myself a few times on these railings. They should cut the tie within a minute or so. When they do cut, please run far from here” I whisper directly into her ear. I grab her ears and kiss the top of her head.
I enter the code to the door and swing open the door. He proceeds to press the pistol into the back of my head and pushes me forward. We walk down the steps to the next door, pistol pointed at head. Before I open the door I make sure I’m not going to get shot from misunderstanding, “I want to let you know, that away you don’t shoot me, the next hallway is dark and it’s lights are triggered by words, also the next room works similar to a airlock. So please don’t shoot me.” “Fine. Now open the door” I open the door. “Lights on” The lights flicker on, “So you even have power. Must be a generator” We walk to the next door, door shut and pressurizes, light on and open final door. “Are anymore of those codes needed?” he asks me, “No? Everything else is automated from here on out”. “Good, then I don’t need you anymore” He gun whips me in the back of the head. Everything goes black.

I wake up to him standing by the entrance holding something. “Good Bye. Thanks For Everything” He laughs out loud. He pulls pins out of the objects, and throws them across the room. (Pins and require throw away from you? Good bye? … wait, those are grenades) As fast as I can, I pull the dinner table closer to the entrance and flip it onto it’s side. I hunker down behind the table and a second later, 3 explosions go off simultaneously, then a 4th goes off even harder. The table gets blown back and I slam into the wall. Consciousness leaves again.
Something hot is licking at me. My eyes snap open, flames are engulfed in front of me. The whole place is on fire, I start to cough violently. (I’ve got to get out before I’m burned alive) I stand up (Entrance, entrance where are you?) the lights are out but the flames illuminate everything around me. 10 feet away, I jump over the flaming table legs and roll to the floor coughing again. I check to make sure I’m not on fire and crawl to the door. Whenever the power is out, everything does an unlock, no more air pressured door. I reach for the handle, “Ouch!” I scream in a hoarse voice, then start coughing violently again. I use my shirt to open the door and hurry to the next to. It’s colder, I open it and close it when I get out. (This place is extremely insulated and vents should be shut, the fire can be snuffed out with the closed doors) I stagger down the hallway holding onto the wall, continually coughing as I go along. I reach the wheeled door and slowly open it while breathing hard which triggers a lot of coughing. I get into the staircase hallway and somehow push the door shut and turn the wheel closed. I hear footsteps coming down the stairs as I get done coughing. I turn as Alexia runs up to me, she grabs me into a hug, not sure if because she was happy to see me or the fact I was about to fall over. I cup her ears and lean into her forehead, “See I told you I would keep you safe, though I didn’t do so well with myself” I started to laugh, I moved my face away from her as it triggered more coughing. It brought me to my knees, Alexia put my head in her lap and rubbed my back as I continue to cough. “What happened?!” I hear Doug shouting as he and Helen come running down the stairs. “Code Red. Power is gone. No more… Also I need to get some fresh air. Um… um…” I continue to cough as I try to think “ah yes, we need to leave when I wake up” I look up at everyone. “Wake up?” Doug questions. I look at Alexia with a grin and lean into her ear “Make sure I’m still breathing every hour and that I get lots of fresh air” I lean even closer in “Also, thanks for trusting in me” I whisper lightly.
And with that I pass out on Alexia’s shoulder.

The Exodus Project
This is the original version of Origin before I rewrote it. It's much more simpler, some names and personalities are a little different. THere's nowhere near as much back story or character development/interaction. But the story is essentially at the end of book one. I wrote this 15 odd years ago, and with a bit of polish it doesn't look too bad. The story like Origin is about a group of college students who find a ship that is the last remnant of an ancient human space faring civilisation, they fix her up and go back into space. Along they way they'll meet alot of aliens, religious fundamentalists and conmen.
