《Multi Me Myself And I》Ch. 78 A plan on whim

Gine dressed as a poor old man and he walked down the streets of the slums with his cane. Most people around him seemed dead and they were starving. The occasional laugh in the slum came from the children who tried to be happy by playing with each other.
Jack paid attention to most things and kept walking down the street. The smell of blood was everywhere, it irritated him greatly. The blood was nasty and filthy, it was not like the blood fresh from a healthy person.
A skinny dog whose bones can be seen ran across the street. The adults saw it and chased after it. Poverty was sometimes related to corruption, from Gine's memories, Jack could tell that the empire was rich enough that it could give everyone a living.
"Mom," Jack heard the quiet voice of a female child.
No one around Jack heard it, the sound was so small that it took Gine's sharp ear to hear it.
"Don't leave me, mom," the girl said softly.
"Hmmmmm," Jack thought to himself.
The other three looked at each other. They couldn't come to a decision and decided to let Jack decide.
"Alright," Jack replied.
Jack started walking from the sound. Light sobbing from the girl came into his ears. Jack stopped for a moment and thought to himself again. He stayed still and listened to the quiet sobbing. The sobbing continued for what felt like hours to Jack.
"Let's go," said Jack.
He started walking and walking, the further he got, the heavier his legs were.
"Quite the predicament we're in," Jelly said softly.
Jack sighed, "Yeah," he replied.
Jack took a foot forward and started walking again. Every step felt painful to him. Jack understood that it was not their business to meddle around with things. He stopped for a moment. From the day he had been born, had he not done what he wanted, when he wanted, and how he wanted?
"Being 300 years old really gets to you, the youth of my wild days seems so far behind," Jack thought to himself.
Jack turned around and walked towards where he heard the sobbings. In a shabby run-down house, in an alley, where the sobbing came from, was a light blond hair girl with blue eyes. Her name was Lienos and she was currently feeling very sad. She knew that her life was going to be difficult from here on out.

Looking at the kitchen knife her mom used to cook for her, she thought about killing herself. Killing herself would be easy, she wouldn't have to live in this desolate world anymore. But she decided not to, she wanted to stay strong and try to survive in this world.
Light knocking came from the door and Lienos panicked. She was scared and she wondered who was at the door. Lienos took the kitchen knife and walked towards the door quietly. She looked back at her mom who was lying peacefully on the bed.
Her mother's face gave her courage and she steeled herself. The light knocking came again and she walked towards the door.
"Who is it?" Lienos asked,
"I'm an old man named Gine," replied the voice.
"What do you want?" Lienos asked.
"I want to help you out," replied Gine.
Lienos tightened her hand on the knife. The old man from the other side seemed suspicious. Her mother told her to never trust strangers. She took her mother's advice seriously and had been saved many times because of it.
"Why do you want to help me out?" Lienos asked.
"I heard your sobbing and I felt pity for you," replied Gine.
Lienos brain started working, she was sure she had cried quietly enough so that no one could hear her. Her mother once told her stories of great heroes in the empire. Some were strong, some were quick, some were smart, and some could hear voices from miles. Remembering her mother's stories, she remembered a hero named Gine, the one-man stand.
"Are you Gine, the one-man stand?" Lienos asked.
"Oh ho, it seems everyone knows me,” said Gine.
Lienos was still suspicious and a big doubt grew. Why would the hero of the empire be here in the slum?
"Why are you here?" Lienos asked.
"I'm here because I wanted to help you," replied Gine.
Silence came and Lienos became indecisive. For all she knew, the old man behind the door could be a kidnapper that lured kids into thinking he was Gine. But if he was the real Gine, she could get access to a whole new world.
"I can hear your mother's breathe weakening," said Gine.
Lienos became shocked and her eyes widened. She looked towards her mother on the bed with hope and fear. She was about to go toward her mother when Gine spoke again.

"I can save her if you let me in," Gine replied.
A choice came in front of Lienos. Let the stranger in who might kidnap and kill her mother or let the stranger in so that he could save her mother.
"If you hesitate too long," said Gine, "I won't be able to save her."
Lienos gritted her teeth, screw it she decided to take a chance, if worse comes to worst, she'll stab the old man to death. Lienos came to the door and opened it. An old calm man in rags greeted Lienos and she felt like he was a fraud. As the hero of the empire, Duke Gine should be wearing rich clothes and have armed escorts like all the other nobles she saw.
Lienos didn't hesitate and she stabbed forward with her knife. Duke Gine stretched out his hand calmly and pinched the knife with two fingers. Lienos tried to pull the knife away but she couldn't. She thought quickly and let go of the knife. She ran into the house to find more weapons to defend herself.
Duke Gine calmly walked into the house and placed the knife on a table. He headed towards where Lienos' mother was. He looked down on Lienos mother, she had light blond hair and blue eyes which Jack detected using Rilt. Jack smiled and a plan quickly started forming and shaping inside his head. Lienos mother had royal bloodline, he could tell because he had smelled it from Prince Sikal.
Jack didn't like the slum, if he could make Lienos the empress, then he could change this country. If that didn't work, there was always the good old method that always went his way, violence. Duke Gine started channeling the Rilt inside him and transferred it into Lienos mother.
Lienos came into the room and was about to attack Duke Gine with another knife but stopped when she saw that he was healing her mother. She saw that her mother's completion was getting better and she became hopeful and happy. She went towards her mother while still keeping hold of her knife in case duke Gine pulls a fast one.
Duke Gine did not attack her and she watched him slowly heal her mother. Her mother opened her eyes and became weary of Duke Gine’s face, but relaxed when she saw Lienos face. Tears started falling from Lienos face and she dropped her knife. She went towards her mother and hugged her.
"Hey guys," said Jelly.
The three of them looked at Jelly. Jelly smiled happily.
"I've found a way to get out of this world and restore the ability we lost. Give me enough time and we'll get out of this world soon," said Jelly.
The three of them nodded happily. Jelly's news was good and they should be able to leave this world one day.
"Come with me," said Duke Gine.
Lienos and her mother looked at Duke Gine warily but they decided to follow him. He had not harmed them so far so they had some trust in him. They got out of their house and into the alley. Rilt envelop the mother and the child and they turned invisible.
Jack flew up into the sky and back towards the mansion. After flying for a while, they reached the mansion. Jack got the maid to get Lienos and her mother to wear new clothes. After changing clothes from rags and into high-class fancy clothes, they sat down to talk with Jack in the garden house.
"If you have any question, ask now," said Duke Gine.
"What now?" Lienos's mother asked.
"Do you know you have the blood of royalty in you, Miss Losania?" Jack asked.
Losania widened her eyes, thoughts flew in her head and she understood why Jack helped her and her daughter. Lienos looked at her mother with shock and amazement.
"How did you find out?" Losania asked.
"I could smell it in your blood," said Duke Gine.
"What do you plan to do with us?" Losania asked.
"Nothing terrible," replied Jack, "I just want to make your daughter the new empress so that corruption can be purged from this land. If you're not willing to let your daughter do such a thing then that's fine, you can live out your life out in this mansion with lavish for as long as you like," said Jack.
Losania and her daughter looked at each other. They could see fears in each other eyes. For all they know, Duke Gine would kick them out if they refuse.
"I don't want my daughter to go into such plots," said Losania.
"That's fine," said Duke Gine, "tell me whenever you change your mind, the offer is open for as long as I live in this empire."

Ortus
A woman wakes up in a forest, naked, alone, and injured. She has nothing but a strange, black dagger and mysterious, floating, blue boxes to aid her. Can she find food and water? Survive the deadly animals? Escape the forest? Learn about the life-altering magic the boxes provide her? She has to use her wits, her knowledge, and maths to do so. But first, baby steps. She doesn't even understand the language, yet. If you see any maths mistakes or strange story decisions, leave a comment and I will either fix it or consider changing it. This is also, essentially, a first draft. That means I will edit older chapters and nothing is final, including numbers. Any major changes are listed in the changelog below each chapter. Since this is a first draft, the start is noticably bad and inconsistent compared to the more recent chapters so you will have to endure that to get to the good stuff. In the realm of Yggdrasil, there exist nine worlds. Each and every world has unique stories to tell, but there was one that stood out--The Floating World of Speir. In the land of Speir, the impossible does not exist; this world has given birth to thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of tales, fables, and legends. The fight for the fate of the world is a common occurrence and the neverending stories of the people which reside in it were all, by itself, always unique and interesting. Now, after many aeons have passed, the world has changed. Not only the power of magic could shape reality, technology also has the ability to change the world with just a thought. And from the world where futuristic technology meets magic, I have chosen to tell you a story, a story picked from countless others. This is the story of a boy who recently entered the prestigious, and the most powerful academy in all of the nine worlds--Yggdrasil Academy, to fufill his dream. What is his dream, you might ask. Well, allow me to show you the life of Reynard Foxtale, one of The Children of The Sky. *Warning. For those who don't like lengthy explanations or long talks, this might not suit your taste. However, the setting of my story does not adhere to most of the main stream fantasy/sci-fi settings. So, you might find my ideas unique or a little too weird and complicated or both. Whatever opinions you might have, I truly thank all of you who are willing to spend your time to read my story. *The cover (which is a picture I do not own) is not in any way an accurate depiction of the world in the story. P/S I will post this story on FictionPress as well. P/P/S I'm relatively new to this website, so if I made any obvious (to regulars) mistakes, please tell me. P/P/P/S Will update every two weeks. *Important: In Hiatus for now. **13/7/2017 Update. Check chapter nine (and maybe ten) post-chapter note.
