It's been many hours and everyone got sick of French fries besides JJ. His hunger was insatiable. He kept removing the waste inside him while eating more and more French fries.
The other three looked at him as if he was a monster. Seeing that it was safe, Silaya soon left the island to return to her home. Tesra and Fluff looked at JJ worriedly.
“JJ are you going to be fine eating that much.”
JJ nodded and kept eating. Jelly and Jack who was watching the whole thing soon got sick of it.
“Alright, time to switch,” Jelly said with disgust.
Jelly then switched with JJ. The body attire changed to that of a scientist with glasses. Looking at the island, Jelly sighed. He then looked at Tesra.
“Come on, let's go.”
Tesra nods and Jelly carried the two of them away into the sky. They flew at a paste not too fast or slow. Wherever they flew, Jelly would quickly scan the marine life. After a long while of flying, they reached a small island.
Jelly and Tesra looked at the island strangely. The small island had a wooden hut on it with a tan man in rags currently roasting fishes on a stick. The gruff man with brown long messy hair looked tired and old with a brown beard.
Jelly and Tesra with Fluff landed on the island. The bearded man looked at them and they, in turn, looked at him.
“I must be going crazy.” The bearded man muttered.
The man then went back to roasting fishes. He turned the fish on the stick slowly. After a while, he saw that the three people in front of him still hadn't disappeared yet.
“Uhm, are you real.”
The three in front of him didn't speak or move. That was because Jelly was holding everyone still with mana. It wasn't because this bearded man in front of him was op or something. Jelly just wanted to scare him when he gets close.
The man kept looking at them while roasting his fish and he was slowly getting startled. The fish was soon done cooking and he started eating while keeping his eyes on the three people in front of him. They didn't move and he became uneasy.
“Would you like to have a fish?”
Jelly spoke loudly which startled the man and made him fall on his back.
“Why yes I would like to have a fish, hello my name is Jelly and this is Tesra and Fluff. How are you doing today mister? Why I must ask why you're all alone in this place of nowhere.”

The man looked at them scared. He calmed himself and got up.
Grabbing the stick with the fish, the man pointed it towards Jelly who took a fish off the stick. Tesra and Fluff both got a fish of the stick. They ate it and looked at the gruff man before them. The gruff man spoke nervously.
“Um, my name is Halgin; I was stranded at sea years ago and came upon this island which I now call home.”
Chewing the fish, Jelly spoke. “Do you have a family to return to?”
Halgin in front of him nodded sadly. He wished to speak truthfully in front of Jelly, isolation had made him old and soft.
“Back home I have a wife and two kids. They're probably adults by now.”
Halgin had a look of fear and regrets in his eyes.
“Do you think someone had taken advantage of your family?”
Tesra and Halgin’s eyes both widened. Halgin trembled for a moment and nodded. Jelly kept eating the fish and spoke.
“Well Halgin, me and my two friends here are traveling around the world to see what's out there; we could take you home if you want.”
Halgin looked at Jelly with hope.
“I would be grateful if you could take me home.”
“Where do you live?”
“I live in the continent of Faskilan. Do you happen to know if it?”
“Nope, I got no idea. What's it like.”
Halgin reminiscented in his memories.
“I remember that it's a hot dry place. Water and food is a low commodity there. To make a living for my family I started sailing. Unfortunately here I am now. I would be grateful if you could return me home.”
Tesra looked at the man sadly while Fluff kept eating fish. Jelly was done eating the fish and threw it into the firepit.
“Anything you would like to take with you before you return home?”
Halgin shooked his head.
“Alright then, let's go.”
Covering the other three with mana, Jelly flew into the sky with them. Tesra, Fluff, and Halgin looked down while admiring the view. Soon they were high enough that they could see continents. Halgin saw the continents and was amazed, he remembered the map of his home continent and pointed towards it.
Jelly then flew down towards the continent of Faskilan. Faskilan was a continent south of the planet. While flying down, Halgin kept giving directions and they soon reached a dry place with a small town. The small town was by the ocean and it seemed abandoned.

Halgin lost hope upon seeing this. They landed in the middle of the town on the hot sand. Tesra looked at Halgin eyes and saw that its light was slowly extinguishing. She saw what her eyes use to be in his eyes.
“Maybe they moved, right Jelly?”
Jelly didn't speak and looked around silently. He was wondering if it was possible to bring back the dead. He would need the soul to bring back the dead. Currently, he felt he did not have such powers. Maybe when he reached the solid phase it would be possible.
Seeing that Jelly seemed to be lost in thought, Tesra started losing hope. Fluff felt that she was sad and nudged her. Halgin walked around trying to find his former house. Jelly and Tesra followed after him.
Soon they reached a small house. One could see that it was extremely old and filled with holes. Halgin walked into the house and the other three followed in. There was nothing in the house.
Tears formed in Halgin eyes and his knees fell to the ground. He took out a knife from his pocket.
“No stop,” Tesra screamed.
She quickly came close to him and disarmed him. Halgin looked at her with tears. The was only sorrow in his eyes.
“I have nothing left to live for, I wish to see my family on the other side. Please, let me pass on.”
“Don’t do it, you still have so much to live for.” Tesra pleaded desperately with him. She saw her former father in Halgin, a man who cared about his family above all else.
Jelly looked on silently and debated whether he should tell Halgin that he might be able to bring his family back to life one day or that there was a secret book under the house board. Jill saw what Jelly was thinking and spoke.
“Help Tesra, I don't want to see her break.”
Jelly nodded mentally. He then went to the corner of the room and the other three looked at him. Placing his hand down, he prided the sandy floorboard open. From it, he took out an old leathery book.
Halgin and Tesra looked at the book hopefully. Jelly came to Halgin and handed him the book. Halgin looked at the book with some hope and opened it.
The book explained what happened after Halgin left. Bandits raided the village and the people ran out of resources. The village started declining and many people started to die. One day an army commander passed by the village. Halgin's son went out to the commander and pleaded for the well-being of his village.
The commander refused until he saw Halgin’s daughter. The commander then explained that they could still negotiate. Halgin’s daughter had a high talent for magic and she could become a great mage one day. The commander hoped that in exchange for saving Halgin’s village while setting Halgin’s daughter to become a great mage; Halgin family would repay him by making his family prosperous. The deal was made and the commander saved the entire village by moving them away to his home city.
“Want to go there?” Jelly asked while smiling.
Filled with hope, Halgin spoke. “Yes, I would like to go there.”
Tesra didn't know what was in the book, but the fact that Halgin had hope meant that his family might still be alive. The three of them walked out the door and they floated up into the sky. Jelly then flew towards the city of Yelina.
While flying he looked at Halgin who was filled with hope and Tesra who was hopeful. He smiled a little and wondered to himself. What was the fate of Halgin family? What would be waiting for them at Yelina? Would it be the hope that saves Halgin or the reality that will crush Halgin?
Jill who saw what he was thinking sighed.
“Sometimes, Jelly is a little coo-coo head. He got that after he saw a parent force a child to have plastic surgery.” Jack spike quietly.
“Whats plastic surgery?”
“Plastic surgery is like getting your face carved with a knife, that's what I heard.”
“I'm pretty sure that that's not what made Jelly coocoo. I believe that Jelly only acts coocoo to be like a mad scientist.” JJ spoke while eating French fries made with imagination.
“Hmmm, you might be right,” Jack spoke while nodding.
Outside, Jelly kept flying and the four of them soon reached Yelina city.

8 125Fighting to be Kind in a Cultivation World
Aren't you tired of the typical cultivation story, where an isekai'd person comes into the world and becomes a brutal or selfish person? I know I am. So instead of being fully changed by the world, I want this protagonist to stick to their beliefs and help to change the world (and people) for the better. There will still be main character development and tests of those beliefs, but I want them to maintain that aspect. Brief Synopsis:American is thrown into a typical Xuanhuan cultivation world where the masses of the people are typically sacrificed for the abilities of the few. This is meant to be an alternate take on how protagonists approach these worlds. Main character comes into the world w/ scanning, healing, and monster taming abilities. The release schedule will begin on Dec 1st. The schedule is 2 chapters/week (Tue & Fri) at 11pm. Please like, comment, and follow, as that helps me to gauge interest in the series. Final note: I notice that many cultivation novels treat abuse or sexual assault as a throwaway tool to set a stage. I think the way it is normally done is both lazy and a disrespectful to victims. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve the way I've done it in this series, please let me know. I want to do this the right way. P.S. *Nudge, nudge* If you are looking for a sneak peek of up to 16 chapters ahead, check out my Patreon. :D
8 185Imagine Being a Rare
The world of mobile games is harsh on wallets and harsher on the characters. How do you stand out in an crowd of designs calculated to attract attention from whales? You want power and fame, powercreep alts and event appearances. Some high rarities succeed, others fail. But how do you stand out when your design is plain, your power low, and your rarity, well, Rare? You don't. In the moderately popular gacha game Commandment of Hero, some Rares have had enough. A new gameplay mode will give them a chance to rise above their rarity, they think. All they need are courage, kindness, and wisdom. They have none of those, but they do have stubbornness, selfishness, and shamelessness, which are at least as effective. If that sounds pathetic, just imagine being a Rare. Updates Monday and Friday.
