Jake and Ling Lin quickly walked into the library and stopped. Jake looked around at all the shelves of scrolls. He was unsure of how to proceed so he turned to Ling Lin.

“Sister Lin please guide me.” He said bowing to Ling Lin.

“Humph, who is your sister?” Replied Ling Lin blushing. “Okay what do you want to look for first? Which technique?”

Jake thought for a minute. He wanted a fist, sword and body technique as grandfather had said.

“I want a fist, sword and body technique.” He said earnestly. “Which one should I look for first?” He was so excited at the chance to learn mysterious and powerful techniques.

“They are all in different sections, and there are a lot of different types as well.” She replied. “Lets start with a body technique first, that will make your body stronger. If we run out of time we can come back for others later. Follow me.”

She walked a little ways into the library and stopped next to an aisle. She pointed down the aisle and said. “All in this aisle are body techniques. Slowly read them until you find one that you have a resonance with. Make sure to run your spirit into it as you read the introduction.”

She picked up the first scroll that was called Bloody Body Technique.

“Ok, this one causes you to bleed out of all your pores, getting rid of impurities in the body.” She said reading the scroll. “Sounds gross to me, but this is just an example. As you move down you can read fully by getting them from the other librarian, at the back of the library. I am going to look for some techniques as well, so look for me if you need anything.”

“Ok thanks.” Replied Jake. “If I need help I will look for you.”

She then put the scroll back and walked away further into the library leaving Jake by himself. I do not like that bloody one, he thought. He picked up the scroll next to it. It was titled The Shaolin technique. Written by that religion, but the sect contain only monk with strict rule that they are all vegetarian and no woman or marriages allowed. It did focus on self healing and self hardening. No way, thought Jake, I am definitely not going to be a monk. Forget this one.

He picked up the next scroll entitled, The Emei Sect technique. A female martial artist only technique. Ok stop there, thought Jake, I have the wrong gear for that one. He put the scroll down and moved to the next one.

It was titled The Gravity Crushing Technique. The body is formed of millions of cells and as you cultivate you can awaken them and feel gravity crushing the cells. This allows the cells to become stronger and more purified strengthening the entire body. Ooh this one seems good, thought Jake. He ran his spirit into it and get a strong response.

Also when you awaken all of the cells you may unlock a special ability of the technique. These may be things such as creating weapon and armour, growing a pair of wings to enable you to fly. This seems weird but interesting I will look at this one thought Jake.

He picked up the next scroll entitled, Endless Radiance Body. It is reputed to have the strongest defensive power in the world, using the power of the sun to temper your body. Your body becomes denser as the sun burns away the impurities in your body. A golden radiance will also appear on the body adding a defensive barrier from attacks. He ran his spirit into it and get another strong response. This one is also interesting.

He picked up the next scroll entitled, Divine Fire Body. Using the power of flames to burn away the impurities in the body. That one sounds painful, so I do not think so, thought Jake. He put the scroll back.

He picked up the next scroll entitled, Primordial Starlight Celestial Body. Use the power of the stars to reform your body. As you link to more stars, your body will become stronger. He ran his spirit into it and get another strong response. Sounds similar to the radiance body, he thought, so I do not think so, thought Jake. He put the scroll back.

He picked up the next scroll entitled, Yin and Yang Body Sculpting. Use the power of a Dao partner to create a more powerful body. When both are virgins, you get the most powerful effect. If either is a virgin the non-virgin gains the most but the other also still gets a boost. Repeated joining’s will let both partners sculpt a more heavenly body and also an increase in cultivation. He ran his spirit into it for fun and get the strongest response. Does this mean this is the best suited for me, he wondered. As you link to more women, your body will become stronger, does this mean you need a harem? Jake felt a nosebleed starting. He put the scroll back with a thoughtful look on his face. I am too young for this now but maybe in the future.

Ok let’s try these and look at the cultivation techniques. He went to the librarian and lay the scrolls down on the desk.

The librarian looked at him and said “Only one at a time.”

Jake looked at him and pulled out the first elders badge and flashed it at the librarian.

“I just want to read them and see which one best suits me.” Said Jake. “Grandfather said I could try as many as I wanted.”

The librarian looked at the badge. It was no issue with him, better not to anger the first elder. He went into the back and came back with the scrolls and jade slips.

“What are the jade strips?” Asked Jake.

“The cultivation methods of the martial world cannot be passed on orally but have to be passed on through these cultivation method jade slips.” Explained the librarian. “This is because cultivation methods are far too complex and couldn’t be fully explained in words alone. Only by slowly meditating and digesting these types of information can one be able to grasp the basics of cultivation. This cannot be done in one sitting but you must master each stage. These jades were created by masters who have mastered the techniques to the highest level. Over time as you reuse the jade and increase your levels more information will be given to you from the jade. The scrolls are the experiences of masters who have practiced these techniques. This can add to the cultivation process.”

“Go to the rooms on the left.” He said, and gave Jake a key. “This opens the door. The rooms are sealed so you will not interfere with others when you read the scrolls. Touch the jade to your forehead to start the process then read the scrolls as you like. Train and meditate on each technique.”

He did not care about idiots. He always got people who thought they could learn a number of techniques instantly. He usually explained this to the newbie, but since this person had flashed his badge, then let him learn on his own, thought the librarian.

“Thanks.” Said Jake with a grin.

This badge is awesome, I will keep as long as I want and only give it back when asked. He picked up the scrolls and headed towards the room.
