[Guila's Town, Rebecca's Room]
As Rebecca asks Kaido this question she stared at him intently cause for some reason unknown she strongly felt that Kaido was the one who's responsible for the commotion that happened last night
In return to her glare Kaido just looked at her without moving an inch, with this reaction Rebecca felt something that she should not pry into
"If you won't tell me then fine..." She said
When Rebecca said this Kaido avoided her gaze and replied
"There are something's that you better off not knowing"
As he said this Kaido started to leave the room but before he could do so Rebecca interrupted him
"By the way since I saw you collapsed into the floor... Let me ask you... Have you eaten anything yet?"
"What are?..." Stuttered Kaido
"I knew it! Alright let's head to the Adventurer's Guild then we go out to eat" said Rebecca
"What are you planning?" Said Kaido while staring at her
"Huh? Didn't you forget? We're going to take the reward for the subjugation and your promotion" answered Rebecca
As she said this Kaido remembered about the reward so he easily went there together with Rebecca
[Guila's Adventurer's Guild]
As they arrived the hallway was filled with adventurers that were talking about the murdered adventurer team that was found this morning
"Oi! Looks like someone is out there killing adventurers"
"Do you think it's a monster?"
"No way! That's impossible... No monsters can get in here"
"Then how do you explain the death of one of the adventurers team?"
As this talks goes on Rebecca and Kaido arrived infront of the reception desk
"Hey Lanka! What's with the commotion?" Greeted Rebecca
"Well it's quite disturbing Rebecca-san we still haven't found out there creature that attacked the adventurers team and the establishment last night" replied Lanka

"Ah yes that will be quite disturbing!" Lamented Rebecca
"So why are you here today?" Asks Lanka returning to her original composure
"Oh yeah! We're here for the reward!" Answered Rebecca
"Ah yes! The reward.... Here the reward for the materials and subjugation request totaling of 5 big silver and 25 small silver" announced Lanka
"That's a lot!!!" Said Rebecca as she looked at the reward
When Kaido heard Rebecca's comment he took a glance at the reward
"A lot?" He asked in confusion
"Yeah! That's a lot for a commoner!" Answered Rebecca
"Well I don't know the currency here" said Kaido
When they heard this both Rebecca and Lanka became silent for a second
"Do you mean that you don't know the currency here?" Asked Rebecca inching her face close to Kaido with the looks of curiousness
"Are you perhaps a foreigner?" Asked Lanka as she touched her glasses
"Wait! Don't tell me you don't know the common sense in this country!!!!" Added Rebecca
After being bombarded by various questions Kaido suddenly took a step back before answering
"First of all Yes! I don't know about the currency here... Second your right! You could call me a Foreigner and third I do know what common sense here redhead!!! Do you want me to smack you!!!" Answered Kaido as he eagle gripped Rebecca
Expecting for them to shut it Kaido glared at them but contrary to his expectation they both conversed each other in a sentimental conversation that basically ignored Kaido's glare
"It must be so sad to be all alone...! Pointed out Rebecca
"Yeah! Yeah! So sad!" Continued Lanka
Noticing that he was being ignored Kaido took his reward and look at his current rank
"E-rank?" He asked himself

"What E-rank!!! Even though he killed a wyvern?" Said Rebecca complaining to Lanka
"I'm so sorry Rebecca-san but the thing is Adventurer's can only advance 1 rank per promotion and if you want to skip some ranks... You need someone like a king to bestow the rank on you" answered Lanka as she put her palm on her cheeks and tilting her head sideways
Not caring about ranks at all Kaido exited the guild taking the reward
[Guila's Town Entertainment District]
As Kaido was walking the streets Rebecca immediately catches up to him
"Oi!!!! Wait up!!!" She said
"Why are you following me?" He asks
"Well you suddenly left the guild so I joined you to adventure together!!! So by the way... Where are you going?" Asks Rebecca to Kaido
"I'm going to eat!" Replied nonchalantly by Kaido
When she heard this Rebecca immediately pulled Kaido's sleeve
"Alright! I know a place where there is good food!" Announced Rebecca happily
Since Kaido was going to eat anyway he allowed her to tagged him along
[Guila's Town, Boar Pub]
As Rebecca kept talking about her past adventure before arriving at Guila's Town and staying here the waitress arrived with the food they ordered
"Here you go!" Said the waitress
"Thanks!" Said Rebecca
"And this is for your boyfriend!" Added the waitress
When Rebecca heard this she became flustered
"It's not what you think! He's just a companion!" Reasoned Rebecca
"Well companionship is where every romance started" said the waitress as she teased Rebecca
Hearing this Kaido glanced at the other direction, fortunately Kaido was never interested in Rebecca cause for him the time her girlfriend left him due to his peculiarities in the other world left a deep scar to him that if even now that he remembered that!, It will just leave a bitter taste to him
As they were eating Kaido conversed with Rebecca
"Hey!" Exclaimed Kaido
"Hmm?" Reacted Rebecca as Kaido called her
"I think that you should find a new teammates" said Kaido
As he said this Rebecca froze for a moment
"Wha... What do you mean?" She asked
"I'll be leaving Guila's Town tomorrow so I can't stay here meaning you need to find another partner for your adventure..." Pointed out Kaido
"Why? Does this town not satisfy you? Did we ever do anything wrong? Where are you going?" Asks Rebecca as she panicked for the reason that she's going to be left alone again
"No this town is good just a little bit weird and I'm heading for the Port City Screa"
When she heard this she panicked at the location
"Screa?! Port City Screa? That at least will take you two weeks to get their by carriage! Are you planning to fly there?" She asked
"Nope I'm going to take the carriage... I'm still human after all so I get tired" he said
After pondering for a bit Rebecca steeled her resolve
"There's no way I can stop you right?" She asked
"Of course! cause if you did... I'm going to have to break every bone in your body so that you won't obstruct me" Kaido answered
When she heard this she promised herself to never obstruct Kaido's path ever
After a few seconds of silence Rebecca made a decision that will lead her to many unforeseen hardships and challenges
"Alright I'm going with you!"

Riposte
Noël is known across the city of Portland—and not by choice. Under the care of the richest man in the city and just transferred to a new high school, she's already making close friends... and bitter enemies. A chance encounter on her first day plunges her headfirst into a secret underground tournament. Between suspicious classmates and utter strangers, Noël soon gets a taste for the addictive rush of the duel, but questions of love and trust complicate every move she makes. Cutthroat games with grim consequences await her in a shadowy world of competitors all dueling for the greatest prize imaginable. A new story from Etzoli, that one butterfly who writes things. This is a side-adventure I've written during the pandemic, as I've been having a lot of trouble getting into the correct head-space for writing my main series (The Last Science). Expect some rougher bits. Schedule is sporadic, but this will be a shorter one (closer to Snipe or Epilogue in length). I hope you enjoy it! BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

This is the story of many mob families. It is set in the 1950s. There are many families involved in the crime life in New York. There is honour. There is war to keep that honour. There is loyalty but there is betrayal too. This is not related to my other trilogy. The families featured in this book are different. This is a standalone book. Cover by @aresrising
