Following the adult man's direction, I arrived at an intersection. I could see a fountain in the middle, with benches surrounding it. I saw children running around, carrying sticks and wearing capes... Were they playing a game?
(That's quite cute. How nice would it be if I was young again.)
I turned my gaze away from the children playing, there was no need to get nostalgic over my childhood.
Right as I was about to turn right however, I could feel something poke me.
"Tag! Your the demon lord now!"
(Huh? What? Im the demon lord now?)
"Everyone, run from the demon lord!"
"Kyaaa!"
Uhh... Why were these children trying to play with me...
"Oi, Demon Lord! Don't just stand there, start chasing!"
"Uh. What? But-"
"Cmon! Start chasing!"
I was getting confused... Why am I the demon lord? Was this tag? Hey, why did you guys drag me into your game...
"All of you, stop messing with strangers."
I could hear a female voice, I turned around to look where it came from... A nun?
"But, we want to play..."
"No but's. You can't play with other strangers okay? You're just annoying them."
"..." The children were silent, it seems they were quite obedient towards this nun.
"Im sorry, these children always drag strangers into their game." The nun bowed.
"Ah, It's fine... Im not in a hurry anyways."
It wasn't a big deal anyways, after exchanging a couple of pleasantries, I went continued on my journey towards the Adventurer's Guild. This time, there were no obstacles at all.
(So this is it... It's quite big.)
I arrived in front of a large building... It had the look of a mansion, with people going in and out... I saw people in armor, carrying swords, bows, staffs, books. Many people were conversing with each other here.

On the entrance, a large sign was placed above. It read 'Adventurer's Guild, Temere'dan Branch' It seems like this was it. I was here now. This was it.
I proceeded to walk through the entrance. I was quite amazed by the size of its interior. It was spacious and luxurious, I could see the reception tables from here, walls filled with paper, a bar, some tables and chairs...
This place seemed gorgeous...
Dain told me I just had to go to a reception table, and ask to be an adventurer. It was that easy apparently, he said there were no tests at all... I walked over to a reception table, waited in line, and after finally getting to the front. I asked this towards the receptionist-
"Hello, may I register to be an adventurer?" I asked with a tinge of nervousness towards the receptionist lady.
"Oh yes, just put your hand over this card right here."
The receptionist lady put a card on the table. I then proceeded to put my palm on top of it, suddenly a light came from out of nowhere. It seems like it came from the card, was this something like an ID card?
"Um. Is it this easy to become an adventurer?"
"Yes. Long ago the Guild used to test people individually, however that was when the world was in a much more rougher state. Nowadays, people just need to be assigned a card... However, we, the Guild ask you to not lose this card. Replacing your card will require a fee of about 5 silver coins."
"I see, thank you..." I thanked her politely, and proceeded to exit the line... It was that easy to become an adventurer?
I took a look at my adventurer's card. It seems like it had a complex structure. I could see my name, and

a letter reading G-, 0/10 This must be my adventurer rank. I was quite low on the power pyramid, however it's to be expected. I just joined after all. And those numbers right next to it... Were they the required amount of commissions to advance to the next rank?
(I'm an adventurer now... But I don't feel like I achieved anything special. Right, the commissions.)
Every adventurer's guild always had walls of commissions, it was separated by difficulty, not by adventurer rank... It was quite a weird system, but apparently it was quite helpful in reducing casualties.
I went over to the wall that said 'Easy Commissions'. It was quite the wide wall, with thousands of paper
attached, I could see many people taking the papers out of the wall. Seems like most of the people here were new too.. However I could see people that looked like they were veterans. I took a look at the wall, scanning for commissions that I was able to do... The adult man told me to pick a commission about picking herbs or making deliveries.
(This one. This one should be safe.)
I found a commission that I was able to do safely... It was a delivery job. I had to deliver a box to a certain point in the town...
(Actually... Nevermind about this one.)
I realized that I didn't know anything about the town at all... Why would i do this commission? It would just be a hassle... However i spotted another request that i was interested in...
(This is it. 'Collect 20 silvertipped tongue.')
Seems like it was some type of plant. It even had the description of it. Apparently the tip was just silver.
Well, it came from the name i guess. This one seemed like a doable commission. It was even inside the forest I was living in, Daren Forest. I can just ask Chloe to find them for me, it seemed like he knew the ins
and outs of this forest well. And it had the reward of 5 large copper coins. A total of 5000 Dori. It was quite
a good reward. I took the paper, went over to the receptionist desk again, and went out for my first ever commission... Yeah. Was this even adventuring?
I set outside the city to do my very first commission... And nothing really interesting happened. I met up with Chloe, told him to show me where silvertipped tongues grew, and Chloe led me to a place inside the forest.
I picked the silver tipped herbs that were on the ground, made sure to check if I had enough of it, and then
I went back to the Guild. I then proceeded to give the herbs to the receptionist. She stamped the paper, and then gave me my 5 large copper coins. Yay, my first ever money...
(... This is an 'Adventurer's' Guild... Right?)
Well, now that i think about it... It was just collecting herbs. I then took 9 herb gathering commissions, proceeded to complete them all, earned a total of 25 copper coins and 17 large copper coins, for a total
19500 dori. My adventurer rank in went from G- to G. Wow... That was easy. But it seems like I had to complete 30 commissions now... And also I couldn't just complete herb gathering commissions all the time to rank up, i had to complete a set amount of other commissions. Deliveries, combat, scouting. All that stuff.
Well, I guess things weren't that easy huh...
I then proceeded to walk back home... It was already night time. It took a while to complete all those gathering commissions. I walked back towards the forest edge, greeted Chloe, and then proceeded to go back home for today... It was time to practice Starlight Magic.

Interface
Welcome to the World-City of Thousel, the sixth iteration of life on the planet. These are the recordings of the people of Thousel. Thousel is believed to be the second longest iteration of life, and the overall most prosperous compared to what we know about the past five iterations. Medicine and technology have all progressed abundantly, and the world itself has been turned into one great city, governed and managed by the Governmental-Company Alliance, or the GCA.These particular recordings concern the discovery of a peculiar machine. When two very different people find themselves bound by the fate of one mysterious bot, life in the World-City begins to change… Interface is a cyberpunk webnovel set in an ecumenopolis world where people evolved with electro-sensory abilities. These senses shape the face of modern technology and life in a world where the three largest corporations run what has effectively become the government. Each of these three companies control various aspects of life in the city, and they all constantly vie for domain and power over one another. The world stands at the precipice of biological, technological, and historical breakthrough. After decades of study into microbiology, archaeology, and geology, it has been discovered that sentient life has lived on the planet multiple times over. These past peoples are referred to as the “prior iterations of life,” and it is believed that five great civilizations were constructed before the rise of the modern world. No one can be sure for certain what caused these peoples’ extinction long ago, and the theories range from simply dying off over time to massive tectonic fractures in the face of the planet. Advanced technology, far more complicated than anything the people possess today, has been uncovered in multiple locations. This has lead scholars to speculate on exactly how long each iteration of life survived and how far they progressed as a society. None of the companies have been able to find a way to make this ancient technology work for their own profit. It is as though they are each missing the final key needed to unlock these centuries old secrets. What could this knowledge reveal about the nature of life across every iteration? What power could it give to the one who wields it?Far from the investigation into the origin of life, two kids unlock a new mystery – one that ties their fates to the discovery of an old, mysterious robot. Suddenly, eyes begin to turn towards them as life in the city of Thousel changes wherever they go…
