"Ah! I just forgot to tell you, you might want to hide that robot drone friend of yours."
"Really? Why?"
"Just hurry, you don't want people seeing you with a flying drone, right?"
(I guess he's right.)
"Arci, get in."
"Yes."
I opened my jacket, letting Arci inside. Although he was a bit big, and a small protrusion could be seen coming out of my jacket, I think this is fine.
"The people who have drones like you are either filthy rich, a magitech technician, or an Eye of Truth member, you're bound to attract attention with him out, especially if he can talk like that. That's why we got so much attention back at the fort."
"Excuse me? Are you mocking me right now?"
"Hahaha, maybe? Who knows."
"Grrr...."
I could feel Arci vibrating inside my jacket, feels weird.
"Alright then, lets move."
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"We're going to find you a suitable house for you to live in! Aren't you glad? The great noble me is taking care of you!."
...This guy is really getting on my nerves right now.
"You? Noble? Hah! What a joke!" Arci quips.
"Oooh, did you forget? I have the noble title of Baron, you know?"
"If someone like you could become a noble, then this kingdom is doomed.'
"Hahaha, maybe it is already doomed?"
We started going down the platform, after having my foot on the ground, I was a bit overwhelmed by
the amount of people walking erraticly. There were people with baskets on their head, carrying fruits.
People going inside buildings, carriages going through the horde of people. I wasn't used to this.
"Alright then, keep in mind I'm not going to let you live easily okay? I will only buy you 3 sets of clothes,
food that will last you 3 days, and your house is going to be in the outskirts of the town, outside the walls.
"Will I be living in the wilderness?"
"Nearby, I'm not that evil just to put you in the forest. Of course, you will need to learn how to get your own money, and I'll be teaching you this nation's language for 3 days only. And after that I will only send you books, so learn your best, alright?"
I see, so I'm not just going to live an easy life huh....

"Oh and, after 3 months I will be introducing you to another teacher... If it's successful..."
"...? Who will be the teacher?"
"Oh, you don't need to know right now... Theres a chance that she might not agree so..."
"Suspicious." Arci replied.
"Ah and you, don't talk too much... Your voice stands out too much"
"..."
Some people were looking over my direction, it seems like they heard Arci. But after a moment they just
turned their heads, maybe they thought it was just in their heads.
"Alright then, lets buy you some clothes and food shall we?"
After walking around a bit, I asked a question to Dain.
"So, do i still earn any money from being a knight?"
"Yes, but as you are an exception, you won't get any paychecks whatsoever, so try your hardest okay?"
"So how do i earn money?"
"Hahaha, figure that out on your own in your 3 days of studying, okay?"
"..."
We arrived to a clothes store, and for some reason... It had glass? Did the medieval ages had glass?
Dain for some reason took a look at my face... What is he doing?
"Alright, lets buy you a couple of clothes... You stand out a bit with the ones your wearing... People must be thinking you're a noble or something."
We headed over inside. Dain picked out some clothes for me, they were made out of cloth. It felt quite smooth, is this really a medieval aged kingdom?
After that, we went to a weird store... I thought we were going to get some food, why are we in front of a really shady store? And also people are buying whatever the tools inside are... They looked a bit rich, some of them even had guards. What is this store?
We entered the store. I took a look around, it was quite big, filled with weird things... Pouches, staffs, wands, books, scrolls, gems... All odd stuff, something you'd find suspicious in my memories...
After waiting in line, we finally got to the counter. An old man with weird robes and something like a wizard's hat was behind the counter.
"Yo! One low-tier magic pouch please."
"Ta de, 500000 dori."
"Here."
Dain took out a 5 gold coins from the pouch on his waist. Is that a wallet of some sort?
After that, the old man grabbed a pouch from one of the showcases, and then puts it on the table.

Dain picked it up, and then started to walk out of the store. I followed him.
He walked inside an alley, gesturing me to come over.
"Ryan, do you know what this is?"
"Uhh, some kind of pouch?"
"Well, of course you wouldn't know. This is indeed a pouch, but this one has been enchanted by magic."
"Magic?"
I keep hearing that word, what is that?
"Ahahaha, try finding out about it when learning, okay?"
Really? He's not going to tell me anything?
"I can only tell you that magic is an essential thing in this world... You'll learn more about it after learning this kingdom's language... I can't really explain magic that well since I'm not a magic user like magicians."
Right... Well whatever, I can wait.
"This thing's name is the magic pouch, an item made by magic. It utilizes spatial magic to make the insides
more larger. This one is a low-grade magic pouch mass-produced by the Mage's Union. It the storage size of a small room. Even then, its already quite expensive for commoners. I'm such a nice person right? I'm giving this to you for free."
How do they do that? Doesn't that completely break the law of physics? I'm not going to ask. This magic
thing sounds pretty great.
"Nice person, you? You are clearly a wolf in a sheep's clothing." Arci said, there was no one in the alley so nobody heard him.
"Hahaha, is that all you can say, tin can?"
"Youu-"
"Arci, don't be too loud."
"... Sorry."
"Hahaha! Well whatever, here. This is yours now, don't lose it okay? Just tie it on a rope on your waist, or put it inside your jacket."
I take the pouch from Dain, putting it inside my jacket.
"So, lets go outside the town to find you a new house!"
"Are there just empty houses lying outside?"
"Mhm, most of them are abandoned, since its much more safer in the town."
"Safer? Will I be attacked by the local wildlife or something?"
"Not the wildlife, but by monsters. forest goblins, orcs, kobolds. These monster species sometimes
go toward the town outskirts, so the town guards have to deal with them."
Im not even going to ask what those things are, forest goblins, orcs, kobolds? Whatever those things are.
A new house huh... Living alone. Should be a good experience, right?
After leaving the alley, we went to what looked like a stall. The owner of it was selling fish, vegetables, and meat. Dain bought some fresh ingredients and told me to give him my magic pouch. I gave it to him and
he put all the things he just bought in it. The stall owner was looking at the magic pouch. Seems like he
was jealous.
After that, we went outside the town, leaving its walls. We went a bit far from town, but we still could see it.
it seems like Dain was right, there were a few houses out here, they were abandoned. They were made out of wood. But for some reason we were walking deeper inside the forest. Huh? Isn't this a bit too far?
"Ah, there's one! It looks quite good, don't you think?"
"Oi! Aren't you taking Ryan a bit too far?"
"Yeah, you said it would be dangerous, right?"
"Oooh? Yes it would be dangerous but, did i ever say we were going to find a house near the town, hmm?"
This motherfucker...
I could see his annoyed reaction... Hehe, that looks quite good.
"You! What do you think your doing? Why are we going inside the forest?"
"Aaah, it's nothing much really... I thought it would be boring if you just stayed in town's zone you know?"
"You're not even denying the fact that we went too far now!"
Seems like this robot tincan worries too much about its master.
"Yeah, why are you putting me this far from civilization? I can't see the town, are you planning to make me become a hermit?"
Ryan looked at me with wary eyes.
"You need to know how to live independently, think of it as knight training. You won't just be learning language. After three days, i will leave you all alone you know? You need to learn how to cook, how to hunt, how to kill monsters, how to earn money, etc. All of that needs an independent environment where
you are separated from civilization... Dont worry, I'll protect you, but only for those 3 days alright?"
The man sighs, as if accepting his fate. Good. It wont just make do for you to live this easily... This might seem harsh but, this world is quite cruel, and this man in front of me doesn't know it yet... I would feel bad to see him being mentally destroyed...
I took a look at him again, he seemed to think that this was all a bother.
Seems like I need to shape him mentally. Change his ways of thinking.

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.

Automata Annex
This Fiction is intended as a suppliment to my main title "I was reborn into a fantasy world as a magic robot?! Automata Prime". This is the appendix that would normally go at the END of the book. I will be updating the entries as new information is revealed in the story and linking back here from the author notes. Here we'll explore the world that I've crafted in the book, learn new things about the characters, and get a deeper understanding of how magic works. Think of it as an Automata Wiki.
