"347346789 years. Thirty four seven million three forty six hundred thousand seven hundred eighty nine years. I was created in this base 100 million years ago.... I have been waiting for so long. Finally
I can converse with an actual talking being now!"
"Excuse me... What the fuck?"
My mouth went ajar from the number of digits i heard.
(Wha-what??? Holy shit!? That is a ridiculous number! So that thing is saying i've slept for three hundred million years? Wait, wait, wait... How am i even alive? I know i slept by getting froze but... Was that even
a cryo chamber? It felt more like a... slime chamber. Yeah okay, i guess you can get frozen or encased
in slime and can sleep for thousands of years but... hundreds of millions? How does the human body
withstand that? How am i alive? Actually how is my body still holding just fine?)
Three hundred million years is a really long time...Generations no, eons must have passed on this... Atria
world... How many nations rose and fall during those times? Did technology increase or decrease?
Are we capable of travelling through galaxies now?
"It is truly such a miracle that your human body is functioning with ease! The people that woke up here either died in seconds or were just dead due to their brains being turned into mush! Oooh how exciting!
Im finally not going to be alone... Im so happy!"
"Dead people?"
"Yes... There were many people that awoke here over this long timespan... The fortunate ones were the ones that died in their sleep.... The unlucky ones... well... Their bodies... Deflated."
(Holy shit? Deflated? You mean they just turned into jelly? What the absolute fuck??? How am i actually alive? I must be really lucky.)

"I unfortunately cannot control when people can get ejected from their cryo-capsules.... It seems like the...
Previous AI caretaker of this facility set it to random... I do not know why."
"Previous AI caretaker?"
"Yes... It... Um. All of the Arkbases ever built were given AI to maintain the bases. They were coded to learn
over thousand of years of silence, before reactivating again and maintaining their own individual Arkbases after all the humans have slept."
"I see. So did the previous caretaker AI of this... Arkbase die or something?"
"Yes... Sadly. A- ...No sorry, the caretaker AI of this Arkbase unfortunately was shutdowned 57 million years ago. The reason is unknown."
"But you said you were created inside this base 100 million years ago yes?"
"Ah... Yes you are right... My apologies master, i cannot reveal to you now why the AI shutdowned itself
dozens of millions of years ago. I will tell you this perhaps... Another time...."
As it said these words... For some reason, it sounded... Sad? It feels like as if this drone had emotions or something... But thats not possible right? How can robots have emotions? Hmm... Technically learning for
thousands of years can allow robots to replicate emotions... Right? But..."repilcate". Is it really the same as
"having" emotions?
i was confused about this. But i decided to ask this robot drone next time.
So i asked this.
"O-okay. Alright then, so uh... Were you perhaps... lonely? Waiting for something to talk to?"
"...W, what? Yes, yes! Of course! I was so lonely for the past 57 million years, it felt like i was the only
thing capable of speech in this world! Of course there were the locals aboveground but... Nay, i could not
understand a single thing they were saying.... And also the directives given to me by the previous care

taker AI was to not leave the Arkbase until all the cryo-chambers were opened...
Your chamber is the last one to open. Finally! I can explore outside world with my new master! Oh my
circuits are trembling in joy!"
"Locals? You mean the natives in this current era? What do they look like?"
"Some of them look like humans, while others looked like beasts. It was so weird seeing short humanoids
and humanoids with long ears. Some humans must've not entered cryosleep somehow, allowing evolution
to produce these... Neo-Humans.
"By the way you said you couldnt leave the base, so how did you know what was going on?"
"Aaah... I was using remote drones to investigate them. They looked very primitive, as if they were in the
stone age. Ah. i think its been ummm.... 983944 years since i last sent a scout drone out?
I wonder if they have the same technology as us now..."
"Woah. Thats a really long time... So did you see any peculiarities on them or something?"
"Hmm yes.... Now that i remember they were using some sort of uh... Energy form to do actions
that do not adhere to the law of physics. I do not understand how they do this but it seems like
some weird form energy-manipulation. Something like the reverse of science. They make them
spew fire, shoot out wind blades, create streams of water, and create rocks out of thin air...
It is quite... Peculiar."
(Hmm? Creating things out of thin air? That is quite peculiar indeed.)
I could not imagine how those natives of this current era made things out of thin air like that... But whatever.
This guy has been alone for millions of years right? I feel bad for it. Hmm.... Why do i feel bad for a
robot... Have i gone crazy?
"Say... what was your name again?"
"My current designated unit name is Arc-347, sir."
"Arc-347... I dont like that name, its quite robotic..."
"Huh? What?"
"Lets call you something different... Hmm. Arc, Arc, Arc... Aha! I got it! From now on, your name will be Arci!
Nice to meet you Arci!"
"W-what? ...Thank you sir, yes... My name is Arci from now on... Although it sounds really weird i cannot refute the words of my master. Thank you master, really!"
"Oh and also... Dont call me master. Just call me... Ryan, yeah. Ryan. Just call me by that name"
"Really master? You will allow me to call you by your honorable first name?"
"Yup! From now on, i'll call you Arci, and you will call me Ryan. Did you get that? Arci?"
"...Yes! Yes! Ryan! From now on my name is Arci and i will refer to you as Ryan!"
(Arci seems pretty happy... Does this little guy really have emotions? Well whatever... He looks pretty
happy now to me... Man... Cheering up a robot drone. Crazy.)
I smiled when i see Arci exclaim his new name. Still though... I dont get it... How lonely was Arci to be this happy to just be given a new name... Also it didnt even refuse...stuck inside alone without nobody to converse with for millions of years huh... I wouldve gone crazy in just a month without nobody to talk to.
So... About whether my memories from Earth are fake, and i really came from Atria... Guess i'll find out.
Lets see whats inside this base, and head above ground.

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
