Prologue - Mithril Scrolls

My name is Kurogami Miyuki, a 16-year-old dropout who survives from investing in stocks, my parents deemed me a failure but as long as they got money from me, they’re happy.

I live in an apartment alone and my room is pretty clean, I have an empty water bottle or two on my desk sometimes, spending most of my time playing games, I was pretty much a NEET, usually, I get notified of the release date of every game I played during its beta and today a new VRMMO game was publicly released, ‘Mithril Scrolls’ which was super hyped during the beta due to the ultra-realistic graphics and revolutionary senses. Touch, hear and the smell is implemented making it one of the first in the world to have 3 senses with the exception of sight of course. The game developers posted on a forum that there’ll be even more senses added to the game in the future.

Kurogami was considered a top player during the beta phase, maxing out her level to 200 and getting a mythical job; Medical God, by accident since she produced a lot of potions for money. There are only 7 spots for God class jobs in one of 3 servers and, you're allowed keep your game data with half of your level decreased when the beta ends instead of getting your data wiped. Grabbing my headgear and putting the game disc into my PC, I loaded up the game.

“Alright, time to load it up!” (Kurogami)

Upon closing my eyes, my surroundings changed into white space and a blue hologram text box appeared in front of me.

Upon selecting log in, the scenery suddenly changes from an empty white space to a grassy hill with a pale blue sky and a bright sun shining down, a gust of cold wind brushes my face as I enter the game once again. Wait, something isn’t right here! There wasn’t any wind from beta and there’s no mention of it in the release note! Maybe this was a secret feature added by the devs, they got me good this time, colour me surprised indeed. The map and the HP/MP/STM bars are gone as well, something’s off.

“Status, open.”

One from another world? What kind of title is that? Well, I guess my status pretty much stayed the same but my race changed, probably because of the God job. I should teleport to Arcadia and buy some- wait, the menu is gone? I guess the devs want us to exercise more in-game? I’ll have to walk until I reach the nearest town, maybe I can help some newbies on the way.

After walking through the forest for several hours, or maybe days, I lost count after 2 minutes. I found nothing but grass, trees and clouds.

“Ahhhh, this is boring as hell!”

{Rustling}

“Hmm? A PK player hiding in the bush ambushing newbies?”

I approached the direction of which the sound was coming from and there I found...

“A player? You seem pretty injured.”

A player was injured in the bush lying on the ground. Do your limbs become paralyzed after taking a critical hit now? The game is becoming much more realistic than I thought, I should probably heal him.

“Small Heal!”

A bright light covers the injured player, it seems to be a male player in his teens, poor thing must’ve passed out after experiencing a realistic battle with something like slime or goblin. I should probably check his status.

“Ohhh, a new job? Adventurer…. I wonder what that does, he seems to be an NPC since his level is too high for a player, the game just officially released a moment ago.”

It’s probably almost night-time now, I should log off. Oh right, the menu is gone, I can’t log off!

“Maybe this is one of those Isekai troupes, so this NPC will react to me like a living person? I should shelter him but first, I should have some goals in another world, well my first goal in another world will be….. Having fun playing in another world? But I’m tired from non-stop walking for however long, so my first goal will be sleeping comfortably! Inventory select - Portable base!”

A modern military-looking hut made of concrete with a rectangular shape appeared, 5m x 10m x 2m with iron fences covering the perimeter. Inside is a small toilet with a shower installed with water magic stones on the left, a small bunked bed to the right, a mini kitchen inwards and a couch with a small glass table in the centre. I carried the unconscious beastman and laid him down on the bottom because the top is always mine! I should eat something, if this is another world then I can probably taste the food.

“Cook! Omelete!”

The fridge and cupboards open on its own with the ingredients flying out and cooking itself using my MP, I’ve never eaten omelettes but it looked super good in anime, I can finally savour it now. After 15 minutes, a large omelette with a sword-shaped tomato sauce on it was in front of me, drool starts pouring down as I stare at the fluffy omelette, time to dig in!

“Mm! Yummy! I love this new world! The omelettes are the best!”

After filling myself with 4 servings, I decided to head to bed and sleep, after tying up the beastman that is, he might be dangerous since he’s not an NPC, I’ll cast barrier magic as well just in case. Jumping on my top side of the bunk bed, I slowly lose my consciousness as I rest on the comfortable mattress with a thick blue blanket covering me.
