Chapter Twelve - Two oaths in one day Part 1
Violet Mercy turned deadly pale. She had simply not imagined that Lucky would not only be in the Magi Class, but he was assigned to the seat right behind her! This would be their placements for the remainder of the year! The seating arrangement was based on the known potential of the students at the start of the term. Just by looking in the room, people could know who the students that possessed the most magical potential were.
Lucky was once again in the last row of the class. In spite of his overwhelming performance during the assessment, his magical talent was still not perceived as heaven-defying as he had not yet developed esp.
Of course, Lucky was unconcerned with his class ranking. He would be confident in becoming the number one student eventually, regardless of the current state of affairs. After all, his body had high-level affinities, and his professor always told him that he simply didn't need anyone's help to be great.
"Lucky, I…" Violet turned around in her desk to face Lucky, but once their eyes locked, she became speechless, her heart skipping a beat. This was a feeling no one else gave her, not even Jimmy. Not even once. Initially, she believed that she was just maturing, and such sentiments were a product of her inexperience. However, what about now? It turns out that only this boy seated behind her made her feel this way. Violet took a deep breath and continued, "We… we need to talk. After class, okay?"
"Save it," replied Lucky, his voice surprisingly cold. Violet was caught off guard by this, but Lucky's next words painted a clearer picture for her, cruelly revealing a well-kept secret that made her heart almost leap from out her chest, "Your scent has changed. You smell like… well, you smell like this guy. Could I marry another man's woman? He can have you, there is no need for the drama."
"Ouch…" whispered Margot Frenzy under her breath. Lucky had always had an incredible sense of smell. He might as well be a hound! Even without his spirit power, he was able to smell many things. She reminded herself again how ruthless Lucky could become once you crossed him. He was indeed like a madman who only wanted to see the world burn. Of course, to the kindred spirit in Maggie, this was a deadly attraction.

Would she care if the world burned? If she could watch the flames of destruction with her head on Lucky's chest, then she definitely wouldn't care.
"Who are they?"
"One of the new students, right?"
This little play had suddenly gained the attention of the entire class, including the group of aloof students in the first two rows. Lucky had never seen many of these students before, so he knew they likely the direct students of some magi. These students possessed so much potential in magic that they simply didn't even enroll in the warrior class!
"You, little tactless punk, you'd best watch that mouth of yours. One more word out of you and I'll rip out your dog tongue!" said the broad-shouldered man sitting next to Violet as he rose from his seat. Lucky also found this punk familiar, but couldn't quite put his finger on why. Regardless, he too rose from his desk to meet the eyes of the other.
"Jimmy, stop it!" urged Violet Mercy, hopping up frantically as she grabbed his arm.
"Get off of me," the so-called 'Jimmy' pushed Violet, who crashed back down into the desk pitifully. He then took a step toward Lucky, who watched them emotionlessly, "Stay away from her, and scram the fuck out of this classroom, before I get angry!"
"First of all, …toothpaste. It is an outdated convention now, right? Still, it would do wonders for your breath. Or even better! You ever saw those breath strips? Made from Taxia Beast skin or something. Anyway, your breath needs work. Don't speak to me with such a dirty mouth again," Lucky Riot spoke unhurriedly, his words provoking the giggles of the females in the room, "Second, are you good with English? I said you can have her. This is already me being merciful. Do not deny this toast, or you may drink a forfeit."
More giggles from the females in class made the frown on Jim's face grow deeper. Who knew this brat was so glib? The profile on him differed from this a lot. Some of the males even snickered, but in their hearts, they all thought that it was this funny kid that was toast. In this era, class clowns got beat to hell every time. There was no room for funny business.

Lucky remained unconcerned with his fellow classmates as he continued, "Third. Let's see how it is you plan to make me scram the fuck out of this classroom. Let's see what's so scary about you being angry."
"You!" this so-called Jimmy's face was almost purple with rage as he stepped forward while lowering his hand towards his belt. Lucky frowned. Could it be a legendary spatial treasure? However, right at this moment, this Jimbo, or whatever his name was, froze in place. It was like someone had paused the channel he was on.
"Mister Mercury. Have you finally grown tired of being in this Magus' class?" came a bright and soft voice from the front of the classroom. Everyone but Lucky whipped their heads around in shock. Lucky just looked past Jim, as he was already facing this woman and was the only one who watched her enter the room. In fact, she had phased into the place in a white mist.
Standing at the front of the classroom was a rather alluring middle-aged woman with cute looks and a sexy body. She wore ocean blue brocade robes and several pieces of jewelry laced with strange gems that all emitted a slight glow. She looked like one of the divas or superstars from television shows.
Although television was slowly becoming extinct, as new magical technology was being developed, such a thing was still a nearly indispensable tool in mortal households. It had evolved into different forms of broadcast for Magi. Lucky used to watch many classic shows with Capital when they were younger. Even now, they still watched the school's broadcast devices.
This woman looked entirely like a celebrity!
Only, she had a light air of mysticism around her.
This was the instructor of class 57's Advanced Magi Class, Magus Brenda Hemingway!
The students who were still seated immediately shot up to their feet, as the whole class did their salute and spoke at nearly the same instant, "We greet honored Magus Hemingway!"
Lucky Riot was surprised, but he was wise enough to salute and greet the teacher with the rest of the class. Even the well-dressed bully, Jim Mercury, changed his entire countenance the moment he heard the instructor's voice. Visibly terrified of this middle-aged woman, Jim completely ignored Kasino Riot. It was as if he had never met a character by that name in the story of his life.
Lucky found this rather amusing, but his face remained unchanged.
"Welcome back, my favorite pupils... and a big welcome to our newest additions. This year we have a total of eight new classmates. This is impressive, to say the least. I've never seen so many young apprentices join us at once." Magus Hemingway's voice was low for a woman and carried a strange charm and momentum. Lucky felt like he could quickly become lost in her words. In his opinion, only people with this ability could be considered good teachers! "Now tell this old woman... what have I said about magic in class? Yes, Craig, what is your answer?"
Craig Crack, a young man Lucky's age with white hair and a medium build, was one of the first in the room to raise their hand to be called upon. He answered just as swiftly, "the use of force or mana in Magi class is strictly prohibited unless directly supervised or specified. Self-Defense is also permissible."
"Absolutely correct," Magus Hemingway reached into her handbag, and to Lucky's befuddlement, she pulled out an ancient tome that was bigger than her purse. Craig's eyes became wide as saucers, as Magus Hemingway handed something to him while speaking gently, "your reward, Mister Crack."
"Thank you, honored Magus!" Craig Crack was ecstatic, this tome was precisely what he needed to get past his bottleneck!

This is Linodo, the Author. I'm writing this novel as a more light-hearted and 'fun' story compared to my other works. I had a writer's block for my other story and decided to put it on hold while I have some fun with this one.I don't have a release schedule as of yet, but I will try to post as much as I can. It's meant to be a more 'fun' story, so I won't stress too much on making everything too detailed or anything. However, I will continue to ensure that there is a certain quality to this work.I hope you will enjoy "The Magic God Wants A Disciple!"

A D&D Gamer in Garweeze Wurld
He doesn't know how he got here, and while the trappings are familiar, he doesn't actually know where he is, either. From the perspective of those around him, Duromar is a half-ogre barbarian, an uncivilized brute by any standard you care to use. But from his perspective, he's a character created in a gaming system. From either one, he must live within the rules of that system. This is the story of a gamer who ends up in a game that's just a bit off from what he knows. ---- I wanted to write something a little bit old-school. Most of the LitRPG I've found seems to be based on computer RPG styled stories. Progression through levels is fast, and depending on the game, skills and even attributes can be trained with or without class levels. This wasn't true with the older pen and paper games, and that's the style of leveling I wanted to write.

But the boy Aralt once knew is gone. In his place is a reckless, traumatized teen who can light the sky on fire. The more they get reacquainted, the less Aralt likes him—and the feeling is mutual. As revenge against a common enemy boils in his blood, Aralt struggles to do his oath-sworn duty and secure sanctuary for the heir-apparent to a mystical dynasty. But instead of safety, every step brings them closer to danger: sky pirates, cannibals, and a relentless soulless scourge unleashed by their enemy are all intent on killing Lian—or worse. Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
