Chapter Eleven - Ex-Fiance Part 2
This girl's eyebrows were like perfectly shaped crescents, and her eyes were bright and big. To Lucky's shock, the original dark brown eyes were now a jewel-like pink! Her oval face was still without a single blemish, and she had smooth jade-like pearl colored skin. She appeared lithe and delicate, like the wind could blow her over with ease. It gave men a strong desire to protect her. However, this young lady stood sturdily among her peers. Her lower body was slightly athletic, and her shape could only be called mature.
From the girl's posture, she was apparently a trained warrior. Lucky's breathing literally stopped for half a second when he laid eyes on her. She was nearly as breath-taking as Margot. It was indeed no wonder she was considered an angel of the Academy. However, he was already used to this reaction that happened whenever he had been away from her.
This young lady was none other than Lucky's childhood best friend and fiancé, Violet Mercy! She had been in the same class as Lucky since the time they graduated from elementary school through high school. This lasted all the way up until the second year's end assessment when she was promoted to the advanced class due to her outstanding talent and rapid progress.
At that time, she was able to stay in the Original Pressure Chamber for more than an hour.
Violet Mercy was standing on the platform on the east side of the training field, listening to the opening lecture of the instructor on that side. The girl suddenly frowned, as she felt an excellent perception pass over her. She turned her head and noticed an extremely handsome male staring her down. This young man was tall and exotic, making Violet's heart beat nervously against her will. She was about to strike at this invasive perception with her own when her eyes involuntarily locked with the same pair of intense hazel eyes that she had worked tirelessly to forget.
“Ka.. si… no…,” Violet gasped and said in awe. That sexy hunk was Lucky?! She temporarily couldn't process what exactly was going on?! Why would Lucky be here? He was a commoner, with low level and low talent! His stepfather was a super-rich mogul, but Marc Raizen had never cared for Lucky at all. Violet had always been thinking that their lives were destined to part for good more than a year ago. How was he here now?
How could he even be here now?
Her family had called him waste with no potential! A political attack! They told her he would never progress past the fifth level in his life, that they were basically born incompatible.
They hated Marc Raizen for cornering them into this marriage!
It shouldn't be like this!
This was the worst thing that could have happened!
That was what Violet Mercy had been spoon-fed for the last year.
Violet Mercy and many other advanced students had yet to return to school from the winter break when the assessment occurred. This was because they just didn't need to participate in this event. Therefore, many of these students were totally unaware of the events happening in the last few days. There were a few exceptions, such as those with younger siblings who took the assessment. Unfortunately, Violet and her younger sibling were not currently seeing eye to eye or she may have been aware of what happened. However, considering the reason they weren’t seeing eye to eye, perhaps this was no accident on her younger sister’s part.
Lucky Riot noticed this more than strange reaction of Violet, and his mood immediately soured. He knew her well enough to read many things from that lost and panicked look in her eyes. He wasn't sure what to expect, but this reaction confirmed that his fears were at least partially real. Having not seen her before now was definitely no accident. It simply wasn’t that difficult to return to the main academy. In fact, for certain situations it was mandatory. Lucky’s face turned cold as he looked away indifferently.

There had always been contention toward this engagement by those in Violet's family and the families of her other suitors. Once both Lucky and Violet's talents were revealed in school, the difference between them was like the difference between mud and the heavens in the eyes of her family. Many people fiercely opposed their engagement, but his step-father's reputation held it together. This had long since made Lucky feel disgusted with himself.
He didn't doubt that he would be the strongest existence one day.
Merely, he had no reason why he felt this way innately. Also, that didn't change how weak he was now.
This made the little Lucky Riot feel depressed for a while, as he couldn't find a path to redemption. In elementary school, it was Magus Clear Sky that changed his perspective of himself. This was why he had such good feelings toward this professor of his.
Had Lucky seriously been betrayed by Violet? Of this, he wasn't sure. However, her reaction aroused his suspicion. Lucky planned on getting to the bottom of it. He had never given a damn about things like elevated status or social ranking. In his hometown, such things were superfluous. That was an actual city, with only one true overlord! There were only two things that made someone genuinely influential.
Money!
Strength!
Ultimately, with enough strength, it was easy to obtain wealth! So truthfully, Lucky already had a clear focus.
Increasing his strength!
Surpassing his peers!
His piece of shit stepfather had risen to the upper echelon Kairo City with strength and ingenuity in business. There was no reason Lucky couldn't do the same.
When Violet Mercy saw Lucky’s cold eyes turn away from her, she felt so lost, as if she had just let something terribly important slip out of her hand. Now it had just fallen and broken in front of her. Remembering the perceptive force she felt pass over, she felt so bewildered. She was one of two people in the class and nine people in the school who possessed this level of spirit power. Why did Lucky's feel so overwhelming? She bit her lip and turned her head back to the front.
Something wasn’t right about this entire situation…
"Is everything okay, babe?" came a deep voice from her left, which made her body quake a little.
“It's… everything is fine. I just thought I saw something, but it was in my head I guess," said Violet softly, before tuning into the instructor's words. The tall young man with broad shoulders at her left frowned but said nothing.
A dark glint flashed in his eyes, as he glanced at the students on the other platform. However, he didn't see any young men that fit the profile he was given by his leader; 5'11 with brown skin and hazel eyes, wavy black hair and likes to wear his hair cut low… there were students matching that description but not the face in the pictures he had memorized.
They were clearly different.
The one person whose face looked slightly similar, was tall and imposing. Nothing like the description.
'Could that waste really have made it here like the boss said he might? No way, right?'
"When a warrior cultivates his mystic ki it is stored in a fist-sized location beneath the navel, also known as the origin root. Mystic Ki that can be released from the body as what we call essence strength or battle qi!" In front of the group of youths on the west platform stood a burly man in a coach uniform as he instructed the youths before him, "True battles are fought with battle ki. A real warrior is one who can properly release battle ki from their bodies! Only then can you properly utilize mystic arts. Before the might a true mystic arts at any level, regular martial arts will completely crumble! For those who are unable to reach this boundary, they will never become more than cannon fodder. As members of the advanced class, you are expected to reach this step in less than a year!"

This was the man assigned to be the Junior Instructor for Advanced Warrior Class 57, Sir Wale. Lucky listened attentively as Sir Wale continued his speech.
"High Schoolers! The resources available to you are abundant. If you were not capable of exceeding the eighth level, you could never be accepted into this class. There's no harm, and thus no reason, for you to fail to reach the eighth level within a year! Only those in the second year or below will be excused from this rule! Only students who achieve the eighth level may train with Senior Instructor Maze across the field, where they will take an oath of silence before learning the exact path of the warrior! Of course, the Prefects among you will take this oath anyway.
"Teach…!… er," a voice called out before stopping. However, he had already spoke. It is considered incredibly rude and insulting to interrupt a commanding warrior's opening monologue. Nonetheless, junior instructor Sir Wale had just been disrupted in such a way. This placed him in a bad mood. To Maggie's dismay, this voice was surprisingly owned by Lucky Riot.
Lucky had recently been ruminating over the things his older sister had taught him about warriors and the mysteries of the world. So upon hearing what the teacher said, he couldn't stop himself and shouted out. He realized upon seeing the sharp glare in the instructor's eyes, as well as the few glares and snickers from the surrounding students that he had experienced a lapse in judgment.
However, once one grabbed a bull by the horns, could he just stop riding it? "Well. Why is it that we have to take an oath to learn the authentic path of the warrior? Is it some big secret?"
Sir Wale sneered in disdain, and spat, before responding, "Those without the capabilities have no need to know the truth of this world! You are far too weak! You are unworthy! Either you claw and fight to the peak in a bitter struggle, or you struggle to survive the mundane lower plains. This oath will not impact your life in any way! It's only purpose is to prevent students from spreading undesirable information, keeping the Avarian government out of our hair. Now, is there anything else you would like to add while we're here, mister important question?"
There were more snickers from the surrounding youths. Lucky, however, reacted as if he didn't hear the hidden meaning in Sir Wale's words. In Lucky’s mind, there was no one here but himself, Maggie, and the instructor, "What if we can release battle qi, but have yet to reach the eighth level? Is it safe to do so?”
Silence.
Everyone was taken aback by this question. The two youths who heard the conversation between Margot and Kasino previously looked at the latter as if they were observing a clown. The young warrior with a dreaded mohawk spoke out in frustration, "Hey punk, this isn't the little leagues anymore, all right? No one thinks your funny, no one wants to play around with you. We're all serious about our futures here. Take your jokes somewhere else. Or could it be your trying to impress the angel next to you? Pathetic."
Lucky glanced at this young man for the first time, a smoldering intensity rising from his body like invisible pressure bearing down on that young man. Lucky sneered, speaking coldly, "If you speak to me like that again, you'll be spending the next three months in the infirmary."
Silence.
Shock!
And then a giggle.
No one other then Margot thought this was anything less than startling. A new upstart wanted to start trouble with a genius who had been in the advanced class since middle school? This dreaded young man looked to be around 16-years-old, but he already had a cultivation at the perfected seventh level Hard Body Stage. In the eyes of the rest of the students, Lucky was about to be embarrassed on his first day of class!
"Hmph," Sir Wale was displeased with these rowdy brats, but ultimately he felt that competition could never be a bad thing in Warrior class. Plus, it was a good opportunity to teach this stupid punk a lesson, and spoil the one he felt certain would be the victor of this match. Especially since he was one of Sir Wale's favorite students, Curtis Liverpool, "Since you punks want to play, go ahead and play. You two will spar, and the loser will get the hell out of my class for the next two weeks! The winner will be rewarded with priority in the allocation of rank one Body Strengthening Tablets this evening after class and tomorrow at the pavilion."
"State your name, cadet," demanded Sir Wale, stepping forward to look Lucky in his eyes.
"Kasino Shreya Riot." Lucky's words caused more waves of murmurs to pass through the crowd. Even the youth with the dreaded mohawk, Curtis Liverpool, had his face turn more stern than previously. His current expression was far less arrogant. He had heard the angel Margot Frenzy call the boy 'Lucky,' so he never thought it could be the school's latest record holder.
The currently famous Kasino Riot and the school's angel Margot Frenzy were apparently an item now.
He was lucky indeed.
Even Sir Wale was shocked, his initial frustration and intent to make things difficult for this youth vanished as soon as he heard his name.
What a joke!
That this kid still breathed meant that was the direct student of both the Guru and a Dean! In addition, every dean could be considered his teacher as well. Sir Wale didn't have the guts to challenge such a person. He suddenly became worried about allowing Magus Clear Sky's student to be hurt. This wouldn't do at all. So his heart bled, as he grit his teeth and put forth an extra concession, "Liverpool, Riot, center stage. Everyone else, withdraw! As a gift from me, if Riot wins this match, I will give him my rank 2 body strengthening pills for this month only!"
Gasp!
Rank 2 Body Strengthening Tablets!
The eyes of every youth on the platform shined green with the light of envy, as they breathed erratically, many of them already plotting on how to make a bet with Curtis Liverpool to take some of his cut away. Until they realized a problem. The instructor had only said Kasino’s name! This mean this was a gift exclusive to the Guru’s student. Body Strengthening Tablets were a type of magical body tempering and potential enhancing medicinal pills known as mystic pills. Mystic pills were known to be very rare, as only a Alchemist were capable of refining these pills.
These alchemists were also all mystic spiritualist, as one needed mighty spirit power to perform alchemy. Thus, one could imagine just how rare these tablets were. There were only two such Rank 2 Mystic Alchemy Masters in the entire Nibiru City. One of which was actually Lucky's professor, the well respected Magus Clear Sky. The other was the great hegemon of the Divine Sun Family, the legendary Sun God Sam, Samuel Heru. These pills were of course refined by Thoth Academy's own rank two mystic alchemy master, Magus Clear Sky.
The students nearly ignored the comment about Kasino winning, as in their hearts this was just impossible. Curtis Liverpool had been in the advanced classes since he was in middle school. He had been practicing profound rank spear arts, and ice attributed mystic level mystic arts. They wondered if Lucky even knew what these types of arts were.
It was indeed a fact that Lucky did not know what these arts were. Previously, he was only at the second level for a long time, he couldn't be bothered to focus on anything other than cultivating. He only ever practiced the arts he had received from Amenophis. He never showed extraordinary potential, so he had never received more than one body strengthening tablet every three months.
This, for Lucky, was but a small drop in a luxurious pool when he was at the second level hard body. He truly feared that the results now would be far worse. Thus, by having an ample supply due to being awarded priority and even receiving an instructor's month worth supply of rank 2 body strengthening tablets, this was precisely what Lucky needed currently. This impulsive action had suddenly become quite beneficial. He didn't mind showing off a bit for some extra resources.
Merely, his professor asked him not to easily expose his true competence, as he was only at the early-seventh level hard body. She believed it would bring him trouble if certain people knew he not only condensed an essence pool, but could already release mystic essence from his body at such a level. Lucky could only heed such logical warnings from his professor, and he honestly didn't plan to expose it.
In reality, he didn't currently have sufficient control over his primal essence qi. Lucky quickly discovered that after cultivating the {Primal Madness Sacred Exercise}, his mutated primal attributed essence was volatile and explosive! It was challenging to prevent it from leaking out. That's how his professor learned so quickly that he was capable of releasing the mystic essence strength from his body.
In fact, all of the senior magi were well aware of this, as Lucky's body was leaking primal ki when he first emerged from the original pressure chamber. In spite of all of this, he was still confident he would be fine for up to ten breaths, and the only opponents that could make him fight that long were on the opposite platform. He had been working hard on controlling his primal essence, after all.
Curtis Liverpool's eyes gleamed with sharpness when he heard the instructors words. Offering to share his own rations to appease the professor of this boy after he gets embarrassed? Curtis sneered in contempt. He should be the one receiving those tablets if he won! However, Curtis would allow this little play without causing a fuss. He was merely from a low-level aristocratic house after all, whereas the instructor was a high-level aristocrat. Curtis knew his place well, but this Kasino Riot was supposedly only a commoner! So what if he had an influential professor? This alone did not raise his rank.
After all the other students exited the stage, Curtis Liverpool spread his legs and lowered down into his battle stance. He was an entire head shorter than Lucky, but he still looked fearless and strong. The sword on his hip remained in its sheath. Lucky raised a brow at this, but Curtis spoke first when he noticed the former's gaze, "You are completely unworthy of meeting my blade. Come, let us finish this quickly. I will let you attack for two full breaths, and then you will fall."
OooOHHH! The crowd below was slightly agitated after Curtis' arrogant banter. This was how a fight should be!
"How cheesy," thought Lucky Riot to himself, without responding aloud or even changing his standing posture. He also had his black spear on his back, but he didn’t more to equip it. He had secretly been maintaining his perceptive force state, so he was able to remain clear-headed in spite of being provoked. Plus, did he need a weapon against students of this level?
"You've got him shook, Curt!
"Yeah! Knock him down, Curtis!"
"This punk thinks he knows something, show him the truth!"
"Curtis, your so dreamy!"
...…
"That's enough!" shouted the junior instructor Sir Wale, causing the crowd to fall silent. However, the uproar had drawn the attention of a few of the senior students on the other side, who had already started their morning training regiment. This included a beautiful young lady with purple hair, whose eyes shined when she noticed who was left on stage. The young man next to her frowned and looked over as well. What was so exciting about two low-level punks fighting?
Meanwhile, Sir Wale announced the start of the fight, "Okay, positions ready? Battle, start!"
"Come!" shouted Curtis Liverpool aggressively, making a summoning motion with his palm.
"All right! Just remember, shorty,” shrugged Lucky Riot indifferently. It was as if he wasn't even the one who was about to do battle. However, halfway through speaking that smoldering intensity flared up once more and the students below had the misconception that there was heat rising from his body.
In reality, it was a formless lifeblood power that not even Lucky was aware of using, let alone anyone else. Nonetheless, the current Lucky suddenly looked like a seasoned general headed out to war! Although he stood straight like a sword and hadn't assumed any stance, one could see from the look in his eyes that he didn't feel threatened at all.
