Chapter Seven - Thoth Academy part 3
Two weeks later…
Nibiru City, Thoth High School - Classroom 457
Over thirty students were sitting down, waiting on their new homeroom teacher to arrive and give them their new class assignments. The class was full of Apprentice level mystic warriors, which just meant warriors in the Mystic Essence Realm at the fifth level of the Hard Body Stage or higher. They were the hope of Nibiru City, the future leaders, and prospective business owners of their proud city.
"That new chick is insanely hot, man."
"Our homeroom teacher is top class as well."
"Did you hear? Our new teacher, Scarlet Mercury, is the principal's mistress!"
"But I heard she was the Royale Family's only Mystic Spiritualist? Isn't she already married?"
"She is rumored to be at the Profound Orb Stage, my god! Only one step weaker than the principal, it seems!"
"Seriously, my grandmother said that when she was back in high school, everyone knew about their casual affairs!"
"No, that's not possible! I heard the principal is infinitely close to reaching the next realm! That will make him a legend like Renzo Frenzy, the Frenzy Family's Grand Elder! That's a legendary cultivation level, man."
"Shh, the angel might hear you!"
"I heard she was in the Silver Mercury gang. Is the Silver Mercury Gang secretly affiliated with the Royale Family?"
"I mean, it's hardly a secret, though? My mom was telling my aunt about it just last night."
"Less nonsense, did you guys hear about the mad mortal, that immortal waste Riot, who took an independent year? He actually came back! I thought for sure he was just another dropout."
"Has anyone noticed that new hot guy in the back? I think I need to go change..."
"You're so nasty! But who is he? Do you think he's single?"
"Who cares!"
"What a masochist! You said the waste came back, huh? If he isn't here, then he must have really gotten left-back in the third year's class. That Riot kid's a glutton for punishment though, yeah?"
"No, I heard he even passed both parts of his absentee assessment! They say he's made it to the next year with us. I heard the absentee assessment is even more stringent than the year-end assessment."

"How could that be true? If he made it to the next year, wouldn't he be here in this room right now?"
"Forget about him, they say that Margot Frenzy of the school's Angelic Trinity returned from her independent study as well! Rumor has it she was with the Riot boy when he returned."
"I heard they left together!"
"You both are so stupid, don't you know the Angel transferred to our class already? We were just talking about her, for pluto's sake!"
"You mean that blinding light in the back?"
"The fantastic work of art seated in the rear?
"That's the little tyrant Maggie Frenzy? No way... she's a total babe!"
"No wonder, no wonder..."
"Wasn't that waste in our homeroom? If he was really promoted, then where is he now?"
"They were clearly lying…"
All of the students were having multiple conversations and gossiping among themselves while waiting for their new homeroom teacher to arrive. The door of the classroom opened, and a gorgeous woman sashayed slowly to the front of the class, capturing the soul of every male student as she glided past them. Even the female students were stunned into staring at her voluptuous figure.
She was tall and wore an azure dress that hugged her body seductively, emphasizing her substantial assets. Her legs were long, smooth, slender, and looked to be made out of polished white jade. Her make-up was nearly flawless, making her appear as beautiful as an elegant angel. She had an oval face with eyes in the shape of a divine bird. Her curly green hair was tied up into a bun favoring utility over style, but the loose hairs that hung over her face gave her a slightly naughty look.
However, her gaze, her posture, and her aura exposed her deeply proud heart. There was apparently no one in her eyes at all. It felt as if the entire world was beneath her notice. She stood before the class, her gaze seemed to be staring at the top of the bookcases behind the students. She had yet to even peek at them. This was understandable, as the Royale Family was one of the top factions in the city. Because of her noble birth and the fact that she had reached the Profound Orb Stage before the age of 40, most people felt she definitely had the right to be a bit arrogant.

"Mystic Spiritualist, huh… I wonder whats stronger, the Spiritualist or the Pharaoh," as usual, Lucky Riot sat in the back of the class on a row by himself. He was thoroughly accustomed to this, as the other students had always looked down on him. No one wanted to associate with him too closely. They considered him trash, a waste. This was predominantly because his cultivation stagnated at a second level Hard Body for a very long time.
Today, Lucky Riot let his long and wavy black hair fall naturally down on his chest, too lazy to braid it like he usually did. His hair was now thicker and more challenging to manipulate. Actually, Lucky kind of liked this new look. His sturdy and tall frame, along with that handsome mug, made him look vastly different from a year ago. Besides, he had a cool looking back rod equipped to the back of his Thoth Academy blazer. This was the profound stage equipment Lucky had requisitioned from those thugs over a year ago.
Essence Equipment was fundamental for any essence warrior. By equipping essence equipment, warriors would receive a significant increase in their competence. This could quickly turn the tides of a fight or even become the deciding factor in a war. Equipment of the profound stage provided the smallest boost of up too 15%.
For instance, the black rod only boosted Lucky's abilities by 10%.
Inwardly, Lucky wondered how that beautiful girl with white and pink hair would react to his current appearance. Did he have a shot with her now? Most of the class thought he was a transferring warrior and were unable to recognize him at all. With the way that he looked now, Lucky's fellow classmates' treatment of him would change very quickly. As long as he so desired this change, it was effortless to achieve it. After all, no one in this room could fight him anymore.
Well, other than the teacher who could probably slaughter him. Anyway, today, Lucky was already not alone on the back row.
Everyone's attention was centered on the Teacher, Scarlet Mercury, waiting for her to speak. As a Profound Orb Stage mystic spiritualist, she didn't have to teach here at all. She only agreed to be here because her favorite cousin's son had been put into this very class.
"Magi and Warriors all cultivate their bodies in the same way at first. The main difference between the two is their affinity with origin energy. As you know, the Hardbody Stage has 10 levels, but in all honesty, the latter three levels are the most important. At the seventh level, you decide which path you want to take, the path of the Warrior, or the path of the Magi. There is merit in both paths, and warriors are capable of becoming powerhouses as well. However, ultimately, a magus is above a warrior as a mystic fighter," said Scarlet Mercury arrogantly. "The only way for warriors to compete with magi is to become essence hunters. Otherwise, they cannot hope to compete."
It was evident to Lucky that the teacher was a Magus herself.
"We Magi are the true rulers of the world. Nobility can only truly be obtained by Magi. Magi can sense the body's spiritual bridge, that will connect to the origin sea once it forms. This spiritual bridge allows one to awaken their ESP, which is the first step in utilizing magical energy. Warriors simply cannot compare once we reach that state. The spiritual bridge is also the key to integrating with mystic beast souls to alter your bloodline. Take my Flaming Thunder Stallion limit breaker, as an example."
Scarlet Mercury performed several rapid hand signs while chanting an obscure incantation in a strange language. An orb made of azure flames that were the size of a fist emerged from her heart and floated in place. There were blue sparks of electricity snaking around the sphere. The students felt more energy in that one orb than they had ever felt from the body of anyone else they had met. Well, except for those who had a connection with the previous Mayor.
This was Scarlet Mercury's profound orb!

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
