Chapter Seven - Thoth Academy part 1

"You!" The spear-wielding young thug was tugging and pulling on his spear, but it didn't budge a single inch. He suddenly felt his heart sink.

Was it a genius student? The young man usually only encountered the weaker commoner students coming back from the inner sector, as only they would dare to venture out to the internal sector without a chaperone. This was mainly because they didn't have anyone to play that role. Commoners were the absolute most comfortable students to bully and intimidate. Never would the young thug have imagined that one of these twerps could be so scary!

The thug felt like Lucky had to be on the seventh level, or maybe even the eighth! He was just too strong. Little did he know, the current Lucky only possesses a sixth level hard body.

In spite of how wrong he was, the young man knew that he had kicked a stone wall this time. Left with no obvious alternative, the young man chose to threaten, "Release my spear, student! You wouldn't be so brazen enough to challenge the Silver Mercury Gang, would you? You can hide in the school, but can you hide forever? Can your friends or families hide too? You'd better watch yourself!"

Bravo, Antonio, and Capital all frowned. Below them, Margot's face immediately became ice-cold as Antonio helped her to her feet like a princess. She looked delicate and graceful as she balanced herself. Nonetheless, she was livid. These clowns were threatening their families and friends? Worse, these threats were targeted mainly at her Kasino! Thugs had taken over the city, and no one could fight them? So now they couldn't even defend themselves, or they risked their families being retaliated against?

Was Nibiru City renamed gangland now? This simply felt too ridiculous.

"Hahaha," to the shock of everyone present, Lucky Riot actually burst out into laughter. Then his eyes turned cold, and a slight killing intent crept into his heart. A killing intent that subtly released through his eyes, "You can't do as you please to us, so now you want to threaten our families? Well, here's the thing, pal… I'm an orphan! No one likes me either! So your threat means absolutely nothing to me but fart!"

Lucky pulled on the spear abruptly, dragging the young man along with it. Lucky poured his mystic strength into his fist as it collided with the young man's face, crushing several facial bones and sending him crashing 10 meters away in a trail of blood. The young thug coughed up blood and teeth twice as he climbed to his feet, using his spear to support himself shakily, "You're dead, kid! DEAD!"

The spear-wielding young man turned and ran off into the middle sector. Lucky Riot was considering catching him and killing him to prevent future troubles. This was a sort of instinctual protective impulse he had difficulty resisting. His bloodthirstiness seemed to be increasing by the second, and he almost felt as if he wanted to drink that warrior's blood to strengthen himself. The warrior had smelled a bit like a serpent.

Could he be one of those hidden races?

This sensation gave Lucky pause, and during that pause, Capp placed his hand on Lucky's shoulder, "I'm glad you let it go, Kasino. We were starting to worry that you were turning into a murderous madman like Bruno Mercury.

"Bruno what-now?" Lucky turned to Capp, confused.

"One of the Co-Leaders of the Silver Mercury Gang. It should be enough as long as you teach these fuck boys a lesson. We don't need to kill everyone we don't like, right?" Capp smiled warmly, trying to reassure his friends that this was the proper path. The path of righteousness.

"…" Lucky Riot didn't speak a word, as he was still ruminating over the previous sensation. Could he really have awakened a murderous desire within himself? Or was it something else?

Could he maybe be psychotic?

A psychopath?

A secret serial-killer?

Was falling into depravity actually something so simple?!

After all, Lucky didn't feel crazy or bloodthirsty most of the time. Of course, that was most of the time and not all of the time. Once he was angered, it was an entirely different conversation. The gang continued on their way, uninterrupted. However, they saw many more incidents of Silver Mercury gangsters harassing the public, trying to assert and impose their absolute pressure in the outer regions of the middle sector. Lucky and the gang even witnessed several fights and many different profound arts being performed.

"Did you see that move? I heard the qi scream like a tiger," exclaimed Capp sounding impressed.

"That's the Bugara family's Roar of the White Tiger palm," replied Bravo with a nod. Lucky noticed Bravo and Capp talked to each other quite a lot these days, their interaction seemed far less forced than before.

"I'm more impressed by that thug's Profound Turtle Shell defense," Maggie commented, "It looked like a transparent shell endured the blow for him before it shattered.

'The city has indeed grown rather lawless,' thought Lucky privately as his friends chatted.

'Never show mercy! Mercy will kill you! Remember that your father died ultimately because of his kind nature! Otherwise, how could this pathetic realm endure his might? Never show mercy!' a soul thought suddenly rocked Lucky's consciousness before vanishing in a blink. Lucky Riot called out a few times with his soul power, but there was no answer.

"Damn dragon," grumbled Lucky Riot under his breath. Both Tony and Maggie curiously looked at him.

"I disagree, Capp." Bravo Frenzy chose this moment to chime in as the gang made their way back to their school. Lucky still felt secretly astounded by how close Bravo and Capp seemed to have become now. They just weren't so chummy before yesterday.

Then again, what was yesterday for Lucky was actually over a year ago for everyone else. A year was definitely enough time for two people to become closer. Thinking up to here, things suddenly made sense to him again.

"It would've been better if Kasino had slaughtered that bastard, yeah? The punk tried to attack Mags! She was absolutely unguarded, and that fuck boy could have easily killed her! God, I couldn't even see that attack! He got off way too light, and he'll definitely report our appearances to his buddies!" Bravo was visibly upset, his eyes leaking a small amount of killing intent as he spoke in disgust.

Kasino reeled from hearing Bravo use the term 'fuck boy.' Did Capp really set a new trend? He shrugged off his thoughts and agreed with Bravo, "They could already have squads looking for us from the earlier incident! Silencing him would have saved us loads of trouble."

"But, of course," Tony blurted out and with dramatic flair. Maggie liked dazzling things and felt slightly impressed, but the other three just rolled their eyes. Of course, this wouldn't deter Tony from his enthusiastic act at all, "Without his life, how could it be difficult for us to leave the school shortly? Now, however, we must be cautious. Truly Luck, you should not have been so nice, no?"

Although Lucky appeared utterly indifferent at this moment, he was initially in shock from hearing Tony refer to him as Luck for the first time in his life. Typically, Tony didn't address him directly at all. Perhaps he had called Lucky by the name Kasino once or twice. Then again, at least Tony wasn't so tender-natured. Lucky chose to allow it.

These thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a startling realization.

It wasn't until this moment that Lucky realized that this best friend of his, Capital Blacc, was somewhat soft-hearted in comparison to most other warriors. Of course, in Lucky's opinion, this was also what made Capp such an outstanding young man. Capp had been bullied a lot since young, but he rarely fought back. He had a good sense of justice and morality. Capp placed heavy emphasis on emotional bonds and nonviolence.

Unfortunately, Lucky felt that this may also be the reason Capp lost in the fight against Frankie. Frankie was ruthless and brutal. He wouldn't hold back in most situations. On the other hand, Capp would avoid using his full competence if he could.

Quite frankly, if Capp were more ruthless, Frankie would have only been able to fight him to a draw at best. After all, he had been practicing the Water God Fist Arts. Not only that, Capp already had strength at the mid-phase of the sixth level of the Hard Body Mystic Stage. He was stronger than all of them, save for the current Lucky Riot.

On the other hand, Lucky had never been so lovely. He had also been bullied since young, but he fought back more fiercely every single time! Life had taught him quite a bit about the evil in the hearts of man. Lucky had never been very good with most emotions in general, but he was super in tune with anger and aggression. He could identify with these feelings the most. Familial love was second place, while happiness and laughter came as a close third.

When he equipped his Eye Of Horus, Lucky would feel more in tune with human emotions. However, other than those moments, he mostly lacked empathy.

All other emotions were a bit foreign to Lucky, and he indeed had trouble understanding them. It seemed to him as if this aspect of his mentality had been growing more affluent after his blood boiled a little while ago. In fact, he felt it somewhat tricky to handle anything outside of anger currently. The moment this anger exceeded a specific boundary, his blood would boil again. Therefore, he was either angry or utterly indifferent. There existed no middle ground at all.

If it weren't for the fact that he was utterly incapable of viewing the thug from before as a threat, he would have definitely murdered him where he stood. Actually, there was one more emotion he was beginning to comprehend as he kept experiencing it while he looked at Maggie.

This was lust… an extreme and pervasive sense of desire. This emotion was almost more intimidating than anger. He nearly undressed Maggie with his eyes, causing her to blush over and over.

Maggie felt happy that lucky seemed to in herself now, but she also felt some bitterness in her heart. She didn't want her crush to be like every other guy, mesmerized by her beauty to the point of stupidity.

Such a man could never claim her heart.
