Lucky Or Not? part 1
One beautiful afternoon, as the sun slowly descended into the night, an enormous beast that looked like a silver falcon with dragon whiskers could be seen soaring over the fertile grasslands. Its eyes glowed with a scarlet light, and its wingspan was close to 100 meters when spread out. These enormous wings were only slightly longer than the falcon beast's body. Standing on the head of this mighty bird beast was a robust middle-aged man with a handsome face and regal white attire. Twenty meters behind him, seated elegantly in a luxury sedan on the back, this creature was a beautiful woman and an adorable little boy. Sitting in the boy's lap was an even cuter baby girl.
"Mother, this Midnight Falconian is so super fast! We should reach the school in no time, right?" this adorable little boy was named Kasino Shreya Riot, but his mother called him Lucky. Due to this fact, even Kasino rarely introduced himself as anything other than Lucky Riot.
"Be still, little Luck," cautioned his mother, Kiya Prozen, while grabbing her baby girl and making her giggle endlessly. She knew that her son was growing anxious and would surely be bouncing all over the sedan momentarily, so she secured her youngest early. "Thoth Academy is an institution that's recognized throughout the continent. Only the schools and sects back home in the capital can compete with a school like Thoth. Of course, universities are on a different level. "You be good while you're gone from mama, you understand? You're going to be very far away from me for a long time. There is no one in these lower realms that understands transfer magic, so we will have to wait on your father to build an array for us to travel here easily."
"Transfer magic… the stuff you told me that I couldn't know about until I turned 15? Oh and he is NOT my father, mom," Lucky Riot frowned as he spoke and wore a disgusted face. However, his playful and child-like look quickly returned, "Besides, why would he waste so much just to help me? He won't do this."
"This… Kasino, do not speak of or to your step-father like this again," Kiya frowned at her son's words. However, in her heart, she knew he was right. Merely, she was powerless to change anything. Sending her son and daughter off to boarding schools was all she could do for now. She knew that her kids were in danger if they stayed too long and their talents were exposed prematurely. Luckily, such a thing as sending kids off for martial practice and education was commonplace in this new world.
"Who are you, brat, to say what I will and won't do?" Marc Raizen only glanced back before responding. This punk, Kasino, was really starting to bug him lately. Who wanted to be his father? Admittedly, Marc never liked the twerp in the first place. He had always punished him with manual labor for the smallest grievance to entertain himself. Unwittingly he had made the brat quite resilient over the years and more aggressive to boot. However, that pride of a dragon only made Marc dislike the boy more. This trait was markedly different from the scheming nature of boy's contriving father.

If having a happy and active Kiya wasn't so vital to him, he simply wouldn't have spared this seed of his nemesis. Luckily, the boy didn't even seem to have anything special about his mystic conduits. Thus, Marc Raizen had grown a lot less concerned about him. Even if Marc later discovered Kasino carried a special bloodline, at least he didn't inherit his mother's talent. "I will help you, wholeheartedly, without a doubt. I'll secure a location for building the magic transfer array once we return."
Lucky Riot didn't buy it for a minute. Lucky knew in his heart that this guy hated him the moment his baby sister was born. Chevy Raizen was doted on so heavily by her father, Marc, that it made Lucky feel sick. Marc had never been even a third as kind to Lucky's older sister, Meri Riot.
"You're five years old today, Lucky. Today, you will take the first step to become strong." Kiya Prozen suddenly spoke very seriously, "Do not forget what you told mother, okay? You want to be the strongest in the entire world and protect mommy and your sisters, right?"
"Yes!" Little Lucky responded with fire in his eyes.
"Then work hard. I'm counting on you, my little man." Kiya smiled sweetly while nuzzling her face on her sons, making him giggle.
"Mom, how far is Nibiru City from Phu?" Lucky Riot was used to referring to his sister by her middle name, as she referred to himself in the same manner. His mother obviously knew of who he was speaking.
"It would take your sister two months to get here if she regularly traveled unless she flew on a beast similar to this Midnight Falconian with rank three lifeblood. However, she would likely need a beast with rank four lifeblood to match this speed," murmured Lucky's mother in deep thought. "Well, she's around that far anyway."
Lucky frowned as he complained to his mother, "Mom, why couldn't I just go with Phu? I don't want to be alone."
"Oh, baby," Kiya Prozen cradled her son's little face and secretly erected a soundproof magic bubble around their heads. "Do not ever forget how much your mother and your sisters love you, little Luck. I needed to get you away… far away. The further, the better. The people in Phu's sect can't protect you but…"
Kiya looked at the approaching dome in the distance. Inside the azure dome was an incredibly fancy city, with towering buildings and flying cars. All manners of beasts, people, and caravans were seen traveling to and fro that direction.
"Maybe she can…"

Ten years later, Nibiru City, Thoth High School - Classroom 357
In the center of the vast city was a great academy that had a white water river channel running through the middle. The buildings of the academy were all regal and futuristic, constructed from all kinds of mysterious ores that sparkled and shined. Hovercrafts and wondrous technology littered the campus. On the other side of the river, in a spacious classroom, there were dozens of students seated in the lotus position while meditating. It was like a room full of Buddhist monks seeking enlightenment. There were nearly invisible lights swirling all around their bodies, making the surroundings appear somewhat magical.

"No slacking off! You're entering your third year in a week! In a mere two years, you all will graduate, and what's after that? If you have not become an acolyte by your fifth year, then there will no place for you outside of this city's walls! No sects or universities will want anything to do with you unless you're an acolyte or peak level warrior! As a warrior, maybe you can spend your life guarding some noble brat with more talent than yourself. However, those powerful creatures beyond the county walls will still tear you to pieces if you aren't well prepared."
"Teacher, are the mystic beasts really that strong?" one of the students asked.
"A rank one mystic beast is more powerful than your teacher, I." The man shouting was the class teacher Mr. Turner, a middle-aged man with both hands at his waist, washing the entire room full of training students in saliva as he continued to rant. "Luckily, with the first rank military-grade origin tools, even I can defeat a first rank mystic beast.
"Listen, you may have had an easy time up until now, but it's my job to turn you adolescent punks into respected acolyte scholars or fierce essence hunting mystic artists! This is the human race's age of magical evolution. To follow this path is to shape your own destiny. To travel down any other road is merely walking down the way of the snacks. That's right, I said the snacks! The nightmare beasts outside don't care about your dreams or comfort, they will eat you as soon as they see you because the refined essence energy in your flesh and blood makes them stronger. This is essence hunting!
"By the end of the year, I aim to have each of you wimps reach the sixth level of the Hardbody stage. Only students who reach the sixth level and pass all courses with at least a gold star will be promoted from juniors to the Warrior and Magi classes. However, any student who reaches the sixth level can be promoted to the next year. If you can't at least do this, I refuse to pass you, and the school refuses to house you."
The teacher was confident all the students knew by now their academic work was graded on a star scale. From the highest prism star down to gold star, silver star, all the way to the lowest bronze star. At least, a bronze star was still better than no stars.
"Am I speaking to myself?" Mr. Turner frowned as he spoke to the class.
"No, sir, Teacher!" shouted all the students in unison.
"Well, have I made myself clear?" asked Mr. Turner impatiently.
"Yes, sir, Teacher!"
"Excellent. We already reviewed the proper method of improving your origin root, developing it until it reaches the origin pool phase. Tomorrow, I expect to see some level of improvement in each of you! I will not allow any poor results in the quarterly assessment! If you can show me significant improvement, I'll recommend you for a reward. If you can produce any liquid origin from the origin root, then I will recommend you to the advanced classes. All right, class dismissed."
~Swish
To Mr. Turner's astonishment, the moment he said the word 'dismissed' the seemingly diligent class grabbed their things and vanished in a tornado of excitement. He was simply stunned. Mr. Turner should have guessed that these punks weren't seriously lost in their own reflections. Kids these days were more rebellious, but what could he do?
"Oh?" Mr. Turner was surprised to see that three students in the back of the class were truly still lost in meditation as if they hadn't noticed any commotion at all. This made him feel a little gratified. Maybe he might find a gem or two in this batch, after all. He pulled out a tablet-like device and checked the profile of the kids in front of him.
"What do we have here? A lady of House Graham? The Mayor's daughter, huh? Already a fourth level Hard Body at a mere 14 years old? This is rather nice... next," after checking a pretty girl wearing red with pigtails in her hair, Mr. Turner moved on to a strapping young lad in stylish overalls, who was clearly releasing some slight origin strength. "Oh yeah? A brat from the Sinatra house? The fifth level, Hard Body Mystic Stage?! Yeah, they ain't normal indeed, hmph."
"As for this one... tsk," Mr. Turner sneered and sucked his teeth when he saw who the final student was. He didn't even need the tablet to identify this young man. "As a teacher, I shouldn't call any students trash but come on... how could this brat even bother to stay in this school. Waste like this needs to be in mortal schools, he doesn't have the aptitude to become an Essence Hunting Mystic Artist, he shows no lifeblood traits of a Bloodline Warrior, and he doesn't even qualify to be a Magus. He can't even hope to qualify."
Mr. Turner made fun of the boy, but inwardly he thought it was indeed a pity. He had never seen another student work harder than this one! Never had there been seen another athlete give more of his heart and soul to every competition! However, no matter how much effort the kid put in, his talent... just didn't make the cut. As a result, this boy was often bullied. However, this brat was dominant of heart! He would fight back with everything he had no matter who challenged him! Whether he won or lost, he would stay on his feet and hold his head up high the entire time, unless he was knocked unconscious.
And knocking this kid out was nearly impossible.
The kids now called the boy the mad mortal and stayed far away from him.
"Second level of the Hard Body Mystic Stage, ugh. He's not even at the third level, that's the worst for this year. Sigh... well I'll begrudgingly root for you, Kasino. Fight hard."
